I hope I feel the same, my surgery is one week. I'm a positive person with a high pain tolerance, so I am hopeful. Thx for sharing tho, makes me even more excited!

Lol! Good!

Ok, so this might sound crazy, but I was having terrible headaches from caffiene withdrawl and I found a strange suggestion that worked. There is a yoga breathing technique where you plug your right nostril and breathe in and out deeply through your left nostril for 5 minutes. Crazily enough, it works. There is all sorts of stuff about it on the internet. May want to give it a whirl. Good luck!

Less than two weeks for me. The big day is May 14th. I started my liquid diet yesterday. The liquid diet should be no problem, I did Optifast for 6 months and medifast for about the same amount of time. Too bad I couldn't keep the weight off from eith er of those two diets!!! I quit the caffeine, which sucked initially, but I think the B12 Vitamins are helping to compensate for the energy. Good luck to all! If anyone here is getting sleeved in San Diego, hit me up. I am definitely looking for local sleeve buddies. I want this to be the last time I have to lose weight!!

I have never even heard of this! I am hoping this won't be a surprise dropped on me. I start my liquid diet Monday and have surgery in two weeks. When did you find out about this?
-
Yeah I'm not looking forward to the caffeine withdrawal. k.i.t.

Yes dr mueller is awesome. You must be excited, and yes, let's absolutely keep in touch. Good luck next week!

Oh don't worry, I don't play around when it comes to medical things. I am very by the book. I am hoping to be as happy & successful with my my sleeve as you are. Thanks!

Sleevedreamer, so you are 4-5 months post- op? How are you adjusting? How much have you lost?
-
Hi guys! I am in San Diego & getting sleeved on 5/14 with Dr. Mueller at Sharp Memorial. I start my pre-op diet on 4/30 and I am totally excited.

Hi hellonurse, I am here in San Diego too and my surgeon is dr mueller too!! I also just got approved for surgery on may 14, with my pre- op class on may 2. Super excited to find someone local.

Omg I was laughing so hard about the post above! Now i am so worried about farting post-op!!! Thank you for your honesty though, and it' good advice to keep it in perspective. The post-op healing is nothing in the big picture.

LBeauty, I saw you mentioned you have taken meds for Epilepsy, I take Depakote for Epilepsy. When I was first prescribed it at 16, was the first time I ever had problems weight. Sucks. Did your surgeon mention anything about how certain meds are tolerated after VSG?
-
HI guys! So, I also started this whole process almost a year ago. I had to do everything to finally get it approved, 6 month diet and all. UI am getting sleeved by Dr. Mueller at Sharp Memorial here is San Diego CA on May 14th. I am totally obsessed with the surgery, right now I am at work and I am all over this website! I must say I am so glad this forum exists, there is a wealth of knowledge here that you just cant get from the flimsy packet of paperwork you get from the surgeon. Anyways, looking forward to losing with you guys!!

Thanks Kathy. That makes me feel a bit better knowing someone else in a similar situation. I am curios, Keppra is actually an option I have been discussing with my neurlogist because it doesn't cause the same weight gain that depakote does. I was wary of it because of the emotional side effects. How have you fared with the Keppra?

The pill is not big. Oval shaped, 250 mg. That is awesome you knew it was enteric-coated.

Hi all. So I am actually pre-op and I have been worrying about whether my epillepsy medication will be tolerated after VSG. I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 16 (now 33) and it has been completely controlled with Depakote for years. My surgeon told me it should be fine, but he kind of brushed off the question too. My other big questions are is it ok to take the medication the night before surgery and the day you get out of surgery? Anyone have a similar situation? Anyone have to take meds the night before and day after? Thanks.

Hi buddies! May 14th for me! Super excited, it's been in the works for a year. I'm 33 and in sunny San Diego. I've tried to join the group a million times, but nothing happens when I click join group. Anyone know what I need to do?

So, my surgery is scheduled May 14th, and I am very excited. Needless to say, I have been all over this website and I have noticed that all of you are talking about Iron supplements. I just made an order for my post-op supplements recommended by my doctor, and I was not instructed to get iron. I was told to purchase a Multivitamin (has a little iron in it), calcium citrate with Vitamin D, and sublingual B-12. However, my surgeon combined his vertical sleeve and gastric bypass instructions in one packet with no differences. I seriously think he needs to update his paperwork, because they are different procedures with different dietary needs and restrictions. Thoughts??

I got the call on Wednesday and I ran around my office high-fiving people! I had to jump through all of the hoops, 6 month diet and all. I am so glad I made it here. I have lost the weight on my own 3 times before and have always gained it back. I really hope this is the change I need and feel very blessed.
