  1. Frustrated! I've only had one fill and I still don't feel a restriction. I'm trying to be good, but it's difficult when you get depressed because nothing is happening. Doc says it will take 4 or 5 fills before I really begin to notice it. Just hoping I can keep the 20 pounds off that I lost so far until that happens. And of course I told everyone that I was having the surgery so now I keep getting questions about how much I have lost now. Sorry don't mean to be negative. I know it will work eventually. Anyone else going through the same thing?

  2. I finally got my 1st fill yesterday..he put in 2.8cc in an 11cc band. I'm on liquids now for two days and then mushies for five days. I'm hoping this gives me some restriction. But my doctor said it could take up to four or five fills before I feel real restriction. Hopefully it doesn't take that long. My next fill is in 6 weeks. Good luck everyone.

  3. I just had my first fill yesterday and my doctor put in 2.8cc in an 11cc band. I'm hoping also that I have a little more restriction with this fill because I was able to eat almost anything before the fill. I am on liquids for two days and then mushies for five days. He said I could come back in 6 weeks for another fill.

  4. I had my surgery on April 18th and my first fill will be on May 31st. I can't wait either because I don't have much restriction at all. I know I get full quicker than I did and it has helped me to eat slower. But I still can eat a normal size meal. Even though prior to surgery I would eat much more than that. Hope the first fill makes a difference. Good luck everyone.

  5. I haven't really found anything I can't eat. I don't eat junk food anyway. My issues have always been the portion size. It just seemed like right after the surgery I only could eat liquid and then very little. I'm three weeks out and I and eating normally, probably less than I use to but I know I should still eat less to lose weight. I think I just expected to have more restriction. But I have my hopes that the fill will help.

  6. I appreciate the discussion also. I was banded on April 18th and lost 20 pounds pre op but haven't lost since. Now that I am three weeks out I'm feeling like I can eat a lot more. Trying to be aware of what I am putting in my mouth but I guess I wanted results immediately. My doctor said not to worry about losing weight until your fills start. But it is frustrating.

  7. Hi everyone. I'm on day 10 post op and feeling pretty good. I won't have a fill for another 4 weeks or so. When can you start exercising after the surgery? I've already been doing some walking but would like to go back to the gym and get on the bike. Just a little nervous about hurting anything inside. I don't see my doctor for another two weeks and I wasn't sure if I had to wait. Thanks for the input.

  8. I am on day 10 also and I ate some mashed potatoes and a couple bites of salmon. I chewed it very well and everything went down fine. I didn't get nauseous and1 I am feeling much better now that I have some food in me. Granted you still can't eat much, but you will eat again. I went through the depression of not being able to eat also. I think we all go through it. But I just watched a show on TV about a 600 pound woman and it gave me inspiration. We have to remember we did this to ourselves. And we have to struggle some to get ourselves healthy again. Hang in there those of you on your first week, it's the toughest I went through so far. We can do it!

  9. My surgery is this Wednesday, April 18th. I want to thank everyone for writing because it gives me comfort knowing what other people are going through. I will also do my best to write my story in case it helps anyone else. I'm extremely excited and nervous now that the day is almost here. Good luck to all of us. God Bless

  10. Thanks everyone for you comments. I will try to think more positive. I have many health issues because of my weight. I need to lose over 150 pounds...so I know I have to do something. This did seem the safest way after trying all the other non-surgical strategies. I'm going go get through this part. I think it feels almost like breaking up with my best friend...sad isn't it. That I love food that much. But thanks again everyone for the support. April 18th is not far away!

  11. I'm 11 days away from my surgery and I'm getting extremely nervous about whether I am doing the right thing. I know I need to lose the weight for my health. I think I am reading about too many horror stories and wonder if it's going to happen to me. I know this pre op diet has got my nerves a little on edge too. I was so excited last week and this week I feel like I want to back out. Anyone else go through the same thing?

  12. OK...this is my first time writing here. My surgery date is April 18th and I'm on my second day of the pre-op diet. I know I shouldn't complain because I am allowed to eat chicken breast and non starchy vegetables if I cook them in broth. I know this is bette than being on the liquid diet...but it's still difficult. I'm a stress eater and of course things are going crazy right now for me. But I am determined to get through this. I'm nervous about the life change that is going to occur after the surgery, but I am excited also. I've never been this heavy before, but I've always been overweight. I need to lose about 150 pounds. Good luck to all of us.
