  1. I was banded this morning and I have a pain "ball" which delivers a small amount of some kind of numbing agent. No real pain yet' date=' I can walk around and I feel ok. I have gas but I haven't started burping yet (or the other thing <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ) I have to use a spirometer every 20 minutes to keep my lungs clear and that is quite annoying, but I want to live so I'll use the device. My fear is that tomorrow the pain will start and look out household members. Still a little scared and I have to go back to the doctor's tomorrow so they can look at the incisions.

I need to set up my ticker too!

    Regards[/quote']

I was banded today too but def not without discomfort they gave me morphine which didn't set well with me had a few bouts of nausea and dizziness. I'm feeling better as the anesthesia wears off still sore belly and hate the spirometer and the blood thinner shots but this is recovery! And def glad to be on the other side!

  2. Google "5 Day Pouch Test" and try that. I was skeptical at first' date=' but I tried it and I'm sold. I lost an enormous amount of weight, feeling restriction again, and now I have my eating habits back under control. It's very difficult, but if you commit to it, it will help greatly.[/quote']

    Sounds interesting

  3. I'll quote my surgeon when he asked how I felt about my upcoming surgery. I told him I was nervous & anxious...he said there would be something wrong with you if you didn't have a healthy case of nervous. You are about to embarking on a new phase/life journey and its an all or nothing committment! It's ok to be scared. You are about to severe your damaged relationship with food for good & in a few months you will be glad you did!

  4. Good luck to all on your pre-op liquid diet. Very glad I didn't have to do it. While it was hard to lose the pre-op weight my network required - it taught me so much about changing eating habits that I am actually glad they require it now. It will be a shock to me to do the liquid, puree, soft for 4 weeks post-surgery though & for some of you it will be old hat :) I get banded day after tomorrow - 6 a.m. I go in!!! I'm so excited & nervous!

  5. Thanks for sharing! What a good story. Something similiar happened to me too... my back pain was so bad & due to that I fell right before thanksgiving then got regular spasms in my legs. I felt so fat & old and sickly.... I went to one support group as I was already interested in hearing more on the lapband. On Christmas my fiance gave me a gorgeous silver claddagh ring & it would not fit on my finger! I was so embarressed...I realized just how bad I'd become...and pursued this since. Almost 8 months later...I'm getting a band on July 5th! Praise god for having those events occur so that it opened my eyes to how unhealthy I'd become!!!

  6. Get to know you poll

Where are you from? Upstate NY

When is your surgery? July 5th - day after tomorrow!

What excites you most about the surgery? Finally getting a tool to help me in my lifelong Quest for a healthier me! Saying goodbye to fat girl stores!

What scares you the most? Something going drastically wrong in surgery, the learning curve as to what foods I can tolerate and what I can't - the emotional divorce between me & food

  7. Mine is Tuesday the 3rd, less than 48 hours!!! I'm scared but excited as well, more afraid of the pain after then the actual procedure itself. But some folks say its not to bad.

I am so lucky, my friends had a pool party for me yesterday, even though I could not enjoy cocktails with them and stuff from the grill. The overwhemling support they showed me brought tears to my eyes. I am a lucky guy. :P

    How are you doing???

  8. Visit with your doctor and tell him what you want to do~ they can help move you in the right direction to get started. BCBS in NY is covering my surgery as well. There is HOPE... I am so looking forward to less medical issues! Even losing the pre-surgery weight has been such an enlightenment~have benefited by being able to move more, more energy less back pain and knee pain! Have faith and make that first call...you don't know unless you try & good luck!!!

  9. Today is July 3- no approval yet. Its under clinical review and they talk to noone but the doctors. If we don't hear by end of day then surgery will be cancelled. I wish this wasn't the case. There is no way to be prepared for this let down. It's a major upset as I've been working towards this goal since Dec 2011. I've not missed an appt and I've not cheated yet sometimes even doing everything right~things still go wrong.

  10. I met with surgeon & pa and did the pre-op physical today. My insurance has not yet approved the band...so I called them & the hospital never sent over my packet. I have surgery scheduled for a week from tomorrow so it will probably get delayed due to this oversight. Just a word of warning-if you are waiting on insurance approval-be sure to call them to make sure they received the paperwork! They faxed mine to insurance today but due to the short time frame surgery date cannot be guaranteed. I'm so disappointed since everyone at work scheduled their vacations around my surgery to help me out...now I feel like I put everyone out!

Still no approval. Insurance is suppose to contact us today. It's July 2. My surgery is scheduled for July 5. I'm on pins/needles & sick to my stomach.
