My surgery is scheduled for this Thursday, the 27th. The ONLY person who knows about it is my Husband. I have chosen not to tell any of my family and friends. I think my siblings would be receptive to it because my oldest brother was banded 3 years ago this month. He has lost over 100 lbs and is keeping it off. He looks fantastic and feels even better than he looks.
Our Mom died 2 days post op with DVT (deep vain thrombosis) after having Gastric Bypass. This was in May of 2001. We know it wasn't the GB that caused the loss of our Mom. She could have gotten a clot at home. Any of us can! Certainly the surgery increased the risk. But we are all at peace with our Mother's passing.
This isn't why I've chosen to keep my surgery a secret. I've made this choice because I don't want ANYONE to judge me. Maybe I'll open up later. Till then, I have LBT!

I would let the office staff know about your feelings. They can always dump her and get a new one. They may even have another one you could see. Either way...let the office manager know.

That is so messed up! Yes, throw a polite fit like Ms. Blue! Ugh! I'm SO sorry this happened to you! NOT COOL!

For all you ladies who have been banded, how soon after your surgery did you feel comfortable enough to resume "the good, good"? (Meaning, the booty?)
My husband and I have a healthy relationship and I don't want him to have to wait too long.

I called my Insurance 5 business days after my Dr's office submitted...just to be sure they got all the paperwork. Then 10 days after that, I still hadn't heard anything. I called my Insurance and was told my Drs office had left out verification of 3 office visits I needed to have during the 6 month supervised diet program. I called the office and they resubmitted. I did the same thing I did the first time and called my Insurance to be sure the paper work was in...that was Monday and I heard back yesterday that I will have surgery on the 27th.
All this started on August 13. So it was over a month for me. I would call your Insurance company.

After the 6 month "Supervised Diet Program" and all the other hoops, I HAVE A DATE! I'm so thrilled! My hot date will be on September 27! That's only TWO WEEKS AWAY! I feel so excited that it's hard to contain. My husband and I made the choice not to tell our family or friends. Not even our 4 children know! They're 8 and under, so I doubt they would understand much.
Likely, I have this forum to open up and get the help and encouragement I need! I'M STOKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So my Dr's office submitted my paperwork on the 12th of August. My insurance took two weeks on it, then said they were missing proof that i had had 3 office visits during my 6 month nutrition program. The office left out 2 of the three visits.
So the office re-submitted last week. I'm praying the insurance will not have anymore requests and that the office did their part to the fullest this time.
I really hate being at "their" mercy. Has anyone else had to deal with this? (I have Reagence BC/BS PPO)

Let us know how your apt goes.

I will. But you'd have to do the same for me!

I don't blame you one bit! I'm keeping my upcoming surgery top secret to everyone aside from my husband...(duh)! Not even my kids will know....they're too young to understand anyhow.
My brother was banded 3 years ago, and has been very successful. But I don't need any drama from others opinions. I just want to keep this to myself!

My main motivation is to be happy and healthy for my husband and our 4 children...(ages 8,7,3, and 14 months). My body is really beginning to feel the effects of the weight. So I need to nip this in the bud before it causes seriously problems!

I had my last phone conference with my nutritionist...(had to do the 6 month thing).
I've been looking forward to this day since February!
Now i wait. Wait for my Insurance to give the go ahead.
I've been watching many of you get to this point and I've been so excited for you all. Thanks for all the great posts and fabulous advice! Keep it up! I've learned so much!...can't wait to learn more!

I'm so sorry. That sounds like something that typically happens to me.

Will be finishing my 6 month nutrition program on the 18th of this month. For those who have been down this road, about how long did it take for Insurance to give the ok to the dr?

That is fantastic! Keep up the great work....and the great advice! ???‰

Mine in on the 27th too! What a popular day. I only have to do 48 hours of a liquid diet. My BMI is just at 40. So my Dr said 48 hrs was enough. Did anyone else have their dr tell them that?
