  1. I started alot like you! My highest weight was 270 and at 5'2 that's alot of weight! I was required to do a 6 mo doctor supervised diet and one month I decided to buckle down and get serious. I lost ten pounds in one month, and got so depressed during that month. During the pre op diet my emotions were like a roller coaster ride one day I was energetic and happy the next I was crying at the drop of a hat.

Your gonna get tired of hearing this but it really does get easier. Don't they say it takes one month to form a new habit? Do your two week pre op diet after surgery you'll likely be on a very restrictive diet for another two weeks, bam that's a month. Right after surgery you won't even want to eat! Even as you are healing you won't be able to very much at one time at all.

I'm rambling... Take care, you'll be fine

  2. I'm glad in not the only one that still hurts. I really think I've been going and doing too much. Church last sunday, ball games tuesday, church then Walmart Wednesday( VERY bad idea) ball practice Friday, errands Saturday( another really bad idea all that getting in and out of the car killed me) then church and a bday party today.

I am not doing much of anything around the house. But I think all the going and doing is keepin that port site inflamed

  3. Was banded on the 16th and these gas pains are awful! I can move around pretty good and is ready to start being active' date=' however I am worried that my activity may out weigh my calorie consumption. I have no desire to eat and barely drink. If I am using myfitnesspal correctly it says I am consuming about 500-800 calories a day. (If that) I am on a liquid diet only. chicken broth, Protein Shakes and Water. Oh! My paperwork is confusing because one say fruit juice with no sugar and another says NO fruit juice. what do you think?[/quote']

If your unsure what you should be having call you doctor.

  4. Immediatly post op the best thing for gas pains is to walk. My surgeons office told me to walk ten minutes every hour! I sometimes split it up to like five minutes ever half hour. It hurts to get up and down, I know and it hurts to stand and move. But I am a week and a day post op and my gas pains have been minimal, I never have had it migrate into my shoulder. Walking really does help start as soon as you get back to your room and are cleared to do so, it also helps healing and helps prevent blood clots

  5. My husband did the same thing! I let him know how much it bothered me and guess what seven days post op... He is still doing it! Grrr. Isk if it's over sensitive or not but I can tell you this- it's easier to deal with the longer you stick with the eating plan that your supposed to be on. My hubby actually stopped for fast food on the way home from my surgery, they just don't think! Just keep your eye in the prize cause it gets a little easier every day!

  6. Biff' date=' I'm in the same boat. I start the soft foods in a couple days also. I still don't understand why food has to be put in a blender? Also, I've heard people saying that they used baby food. Any ideas about this?[/quote']

The reason why things have to be put in a blender is because they have to be without chunks at this stage. When chunks go through your stomach it starts to try and digest them, your stomach moves and attempts to grind the chunks up. At this stage any stomach movement is harmful because the band has been stitched to your stomach. If you stomach starts moving to digest food then stitches break therefore the placement of the band has been comprised.
