Most defiantly a pillow to put on your tummy for the ride home. Chap stick.

I try to order from the kids menu or an appetizer. If there are no good choices on either grilled fish or grilled shrimp with a vegetable or side salad.< /p>

Yep same reason for me. Why would I want to have an open surgery when I could do something less drastic and reversible.
I think one reason that people choose other surgeries over lap band is because in some cases they are faster. You don't have to wait for fills and all that. I also feel like the feeling is that the sleeve or bypass force weight loss.
I tend to disagree, if a person with the sleeve or bypass wants to sabotage their weight loss they can. Just like if I with my lapband am determined to eat junk I can do that.
Ultimately the choice is yours, you need to do the research on all surgeries and make a well informed decision on which is best for you.

I was asked to wear them to the hospital.

It is mind over matter. After the fifth day it got alot easier for me. I also tried to drink 100 oz of Water a day. If you get any Snacks, like sugar free Jello, or yogurt, eat them.
You can do it!

Just hang in there guys! I seem to remmber that the pre op diet got much better on day five. I also drank 100 oz of Water on my pre op diet.
I think some of the reasons doctors torture us with this crazy pre op diet are...
They take the guess work out of dieting. There is no room for mistakes, if you follow this diet you will be ready for surgery.
The protien shakes are very low fat, important to shrink your liver.
They want to make sure you can stick to it, after surgery you will have to stick to a liquid diet for weeks.
They also want you stomach to be empty in the day of surgery.
-
Most doctors will say don't worry about losing wieght so early on, just worry about healing. That being said most also recommend sugar free products. And yes getting protien in is very important.
In a few weeks when your able to eat more you want to make good food choices. I personally don't have a problem staying under 1200-1000 calories a day.

Good for u. May this be an easy journey for u. I am 4days post op and can't wait to see results just need more energy but that will come with time congratsRight after my surgery when I talked to my doctors office I told them I had no energy! The nurse said tht I probably wasn't getting enough protien, and to add a shake. So if your cleared for full liquids yet you might consider doing that.

It is absolutely normal to be hungry and be able to eat quite a bit of food right now.
Something that I did after surgery when my hunger returned was measure out my little half cup of food telling myself that if I'm still hungry I can always wait an hour or two and have another half cup. I usually wasn't though.
Just follow your post op eating plan that your doctor gave you, don't rush it. And don't over eat and stretch out you band new tiny pouch. You can do it!

So far for me eating slowly is the hardest part of being banded!
-
Probably eating to fast, taking too big of a bite, or not chewing well enough. Or a combo of all three.
It's so hard relearning how to eat! Try to put you fork down between bites and really chew well.

Hearthermarire' date='When did you get your lapband surgery?[/quote']
A little over three months ago. I have had one fill so far.
-
Defiantly get it looked at.

No bread, flour tortillas, or the worst offender... Rice! Also no potatoes of any kind. I do not know why but they give me problems every time.
-
For me the worst thing to do is drink. I've tried chewing papaya emzynes and couldnt tell that it helped much. I've also tried taking a little sip of coke, that seems to help. For mild stuck/ discomfort I find walking around and leaning over a little with my arms up helps. For major stuck the only thing to do is throw it up.

I had that happen to me around the time that I went to the doc for my 2 week check up. It was a stitch they told me to use fingernail clippers and clip it off. They are dissolvable but take forever to dissolve. But if you are have alot of pain you may need to call your doc.

I know how you feel. I had my 4th fill about two weeks ago. It has been really tight. Tight to the point that I wake up in the middle of the night because I have liquid (saliva' date=' I suppose) gurgling in my throat and it feels like I am choking. Last night I finally got some solid food to go through and stay down but then today I couldn't eat anything again til about 5ish. Liquid goes down for the most part but I am getting hungry. I am trying to ride it out til my next appointment in a few weeks but I don't know...[/quote']You need some taken out ASAP. Not being able to swallow salvia means your way to tight.

I was on Effexor and Xanax at the time of my psyc eval. And had been having panic attacks. I think some mental/ emotional problems are expected in very obese people. The feeling that I got from my eval was that they wanted to make sure that I understood the surgery and what to expect after, make sure I had realistic expectations, and make sure I had a good support system.

Yes! Totally worth it. The band has retrained
My eatin habits. I eat like a normal person now, not a cave woman. Its very worth it. Be prepared for some difficult adjusment periods after fills. I am so glad I did this for myself, best decision I've made in a longggg time. But you need to know that your comfortable with the changes you'd have to make.
-
It's no picnic. But if you have a problem with getting stuck it only takes a few days of having to go to the bathroom everytime you eat to get it through your head. Slow down and chew. Likewise if you get stuck every time you eat rice then Eventually you'll quit eating rice. So yeah you might get stuck, but your not gonna be stuck everyday of your life.
-
It will get better! Don't stress over one bad day, everyone has them.
-
I havnt heard of many docs asking their patient how much of a fill they should get. But for alot f doctors it is up to the patient to call and make an appointment when you feel like you need a fill.

I don't think anyone else mentioned carbanation. If you think it's going to be a huge issue for you to stop drinking carbanated drinks then you may want to start gradually weaning yourself off of them now.
