  1. I did use Unjury unflavored immediately post op, when I was desperate to get some protien in my body. When I used just a little I could not tell it was there for the most part. But when I tried to mix alot into a small amount of food to, it changed the consistency of the food, weird. I still didn't notice too much of a change of taste and I am ultra sensitive to that Protein taste. I have not tried the GNC brand.

  2. That's exactly what right after a fill is like for me! I gulped down a protien shake not thinking and had to throw up. I have been gradually increasing the thickness of my foods over the last three days, since my fill. Started with protien shakes, then cream Soups, now egg salad.< /p>

My doc says to do liquids for 24hrs then mushies for 24hrs. But I find that I need to do liquids- full liquids for more like two days.

Just work with your body, don't push yourself to eat mushies just because your doc says you can. And the more restriction you have the slower you will have to eat and drink.

  3. This thread reminds me of one of my closest friends. I have known her about 5 years and we both struggle with weight.

However' date=' she has been nothing but supportive since I got my band. She tells me my weight loss inspires her to make changes in her own lifestyle. She said to me "I would not care if you were 100 or 500 pounds. You were always beautiful. I am happy for your weight loss because I know how bad YOU have wanted this. This is the version of you I have always seen". That is a true friend.

Now, some friends may make discouraging comments to us as we lose weight, but they are not trying to be hurtful. But If there are people in your life who INTENTIONALLY are negative about your weight loss, cut them loose. Life is too short!

    *gets off soapbox* LOL[/quote']

    What an amazing friend!

  4. I've noticed alot of rudeness and lecturing going on here lately. One would almost be afraid to ask for advice for fear of being told the same type of things we've been told our whole lifes. Your not trying hard enough type of comments. There is no need to publicly berate people that have come here for support. There is a way to tell someone to get there act together without being mean and rude.

  5. I am also about four months out. Recently I was having searing pain on the left side of my stomach, near my port but I didn't think t was being caused by my port. I thought I must have a hernia or something. Went about a week just trying not to move the wrong way. Luckily I already had an appointment scheduled with my surgeon, he felt around on my stomach and said the only thing he felt was my port and it wasn't unusual to have pain. The pain has since gone away.

  6. It's interesting to hear how everyone has reacted to it. It really helps me to know what to expect when I get banded. I think I'm going to tell only my closest family and my boss so I can get off work. Maybe after a couple of months or years when I feel comfortable I'll tell whoever asks.

That's my hope also! I would love to share what's going on with people, especially people that could Benifit from wls, but I don't want to be under a microscope.

  7. Maybe if you prayed hard enough god would have helped you have the will power to succeed without the lapband. Just saying. All christians no altering your body is not #1 on gods plan. block me if you wish but I'm on the liquid diet and would rather not be called Nasty for simply stating that if you post on the lap band forum it should be related to lapband in some way. That's all. Respond if you wish but I feel like I've had my fill of this place for a while.

What? I couldn't have read this correctly.

    1) if a cancer patient prays hard enough maybe their cancer will be cured.

    2) number one is true but why did God give man the knowledge and ability to treat and cure Cancer if he didn't want us using it?

    3) her posting about how God has helped her in her lb journey is related to lapband.

  8. I had surgery may 10th. I told my husband, kids, sister, mom, mother in law and sister in law. I was pretty sure that all of those people would be supportive. I just didn't want all the questions and criticism. All of those people have been supportive. But I wish I hadn't even told that many only because of all of the questions I get! My mother in law, sweetest lady alive, is always asking me how my eating is going, lol. She means well but sometimes I just get tired of talking about it. I am glad I have a few people to talk about it with.

When people ask about my weight loss I simply tell them I eat very little, hardly any carbs and I drink alot of non calorie liquid.< /p>

  9. While corn does contain a high percentage of carbs' date=' it also is a great source of Fiber, and not on my "forbidden foods" list that was given to me by my surgeon.

I've had a few bites of corn on the cob twice since being banded, chewed it very well, and had nothing negative happen. [/quote']

Really? Good to know. The only vegetables I've tried are ones that can be cooked down to be really soft (other than salads) like green Beans.

  10. I've found it's all or nothing for me. Also if I wait too long to eat I will usually get stuck no matter what it is. I'm guessing because I'm so hungry and I just have at it too quickly.

Yes I have for sure noticed that if I wait to long I will have problems! If I feel like I'm getting to hungry I have a snack to avoid that happening.

  11. My kids are 5 and 8. They saw me going to the doctor every month during the pre op diet, my son even came with me alot. I basically told them the basics, mom is having surgery to help her lose weight. For the five year old that was pretty much enough. The eight year old had more questions. I answered every one of them as simply as possible. My eight year old was very worried about me having surgery and actually cried the night before, I assured her that what they were doing was safe and nothing more than when she had her tonsils out.

  12. Ugh I havnt really tried corn since being banded, it really doesn't have any nutritional value and I don't think it would go down to well so I steer clear.

Being stuck is a feeling all it's own, I hope you never have to experience it. Seems like I am having an unusually hard time, either that or other bandits don't talk about it as much.

  13. Today I'm at a family gathering. On the menu is steak, salad, corn on the cob, potatoes, and bread.

So I know potatoes and bread are out for me. I'm thinkin corn is questionable so none of that either. Steak I should be able to eat if I chew chew chew. Salad is fine for me too. So I'm eating slowly, chewing well and taking long breaks between bites.

It's just not working for me.. I held off until some had started to clear the table To go to the bathroom. It wasn't going down it had to come up.

How embarrassing! I hope to never get stuck in public again!
