  1. before surgery, i was on 3 Metformin a day, 84 units of Lantus at night and Novolog insulin for coverage during the day. Since surgery (3 weeks ago), i am only on Lantus 20 units at bedtime. I hope i will eventually be off of it too!
  2. The worst part of my day is chewing the multivitamin. I am so limited on what I can take b/c i can't tolerate Sorbitol or Mannitol. So many vitamins have those ingredients in them! I use the flinstones with an added iron chewable tablet.
  3. Not too much. They just want to make sure you are mentally ready/prepared to follow through with your new life style and such. I had to fill out a personal survey before hand and they reviewed my answers at the appointment too. I'm excited for you! The time will go fast...i can't believe i'm on the other side already..3 weeks post op... One of my friends had her surgery at Magee also. Does your surgeon do the robotic surgery?
  4. I'm an iced tea junkie also..I drink Diet Decaf iced tea made by Swiss. I thought the snapple ones have caffiene in them...
  5. How far out from surgery till you get to eat protein bars?
  6. Wow!! 100g/day!! That would be so hard!! Have you had hair loss? I have been noticing that my hair is much drier than usual..don't know if that's from the surgery or what. Have you found any other foods that have gotten stuck? Someone said pork is hard to digest. Can you eat ground meat? I'm getting really sick of the pureed's...I still have 2 more weeks on it before I go back for my month appointment.
  7. @kimmyk me too. It tastes so good!
  8. aayres and worm...i live in Murrysvile, about 20 min away from Pgh. That's cool to connect with people in the area! Things I look forward to: Buying a Victoria Secret bra ( ha! whoever said that earlier..so true!) Wearing boots that fit over my calf Having the energy and wanting to play outside with my kids Not shopping for plus size clothes Not having my heart race after going up the steps Being able to go to the amusement park and not be afraid the seatbelt won't reach To be around my husbands friends/wives without feeling insecure about how i look or what their thinking of me Be able to enjoy working out again at the gym..i love lifting weights..maybe even get tone again!!! Be able to wear button fly jeans that make my ass look great-ha!
  9. She is, i really like her. I am still in my month of pureeds..have 2 more weeks to go in it. I am doing well. I did expierence the dumping syndrome once after trying a shake recipe that included peanut butter which i realized after was just too much fat for this stage. The worst thing so far was when i tried scrambled eggs for the second time. Either I didn't chew enough or had too much, but it was stuck for 5 1/2 hours! Crazy sick feeling...but i guess it's all trial and error. Scrambled eggs were on the list i could eat, but not again! I'll be excited to move up to the next phase just for more of a variety of food. Otherwise, just a little sore still. Are you able to eat regular consistency foods now? Have you had any complications since your surgery? So glad we connected!
  10. I live in Murrysville and just had my bypass on Dec. 7th at St. Margarets Hospital. My surgeon is Dr. Peluso. Everything's going great so far!
  11. I live in Murrysville...hoping to have the RNY surgery in a few months!

  14. My 2 hour seminar is coming up May 14th!! I can't wait to get started. I've spent a lot of time researching and reading on this forum all the ups and downs people have posted...I'm really looking forward to getting healthier!!!
  15. I have not been banded yet, but i too have an emotional attachment to food...i need the band to help with my obesity related health issues..but i do wonder how or what i'll substitute for food when i am bored, upset or stressed. It will be a learning experience, but is all for the positive for me and my family! Thanks for posting..glad to know there are others out there like me!
  16. That's a great question...i was wondering the same thing. I am in the stage of gathering information to see if this is the right procedure for me..

  23. I was wondering, should I try and lose weight before attending the initial Seminar or wait to find out what's recommended?
  24. The seminar I'm attending is May 14th. I am also looking forward to getting info on the process. Let me know what you think! @ Grandcherokee If my insurance said they'll cover it, does that mean they'll cover the fills too? Geeze, i never thought they wouldn't cover the fills! Don't think I could do it if I had to pay out of pocket..
