Some Restriction Should I Get A Fill

Thanks Miz73 you always give such good advise and also NW girl thats what I was thinking. So i will go to my appointment and let my doctor make the decsion with me. I feel ok not satisfied with the 1 and 1/2 cups of food and want to stay the course. I work out 6-7 days a week now for the past month walking 2 miles per day with wieghts and running. Love the forum and will update this afternoon just in case anyone else has this same question.
  3. I was baned on 3/23/12 and with my 4th fill last Monday I am now up to 4.1 cc. At first i did not feel much of anything but this morning I fill restriction and ate about 1 and 1/2 cups of food and am pretty full. Yesterday the feeling was very diferrent so and felt no restriction at all and but have been white knuckling it thru the 1200 colories i allow myself daily, so i called my doctor and scheduled an appointment for this afternoon to have another fill. So my question is because I am feeling full today with less food should I keep my appointment anyway and have a slight adjustment or cancel it and wait another week to see how things go. Any help you wonderful fellow bandseters can offer would be helpful.

    True Results

I went thru True Resluts in Bedford Texas also and am under the care of Dr. Carter in Arlington for my fills. The preop was good ( a little diffrent because I was self pay and not insurance) but everyone is super nice. Dr. Carter is not as agressive with my fills as he is with other paitence not sure why though but i would recommend them to anyone especially because your first year of fills are included in the surgery price which from what others have said not all doctors are like that nor do all doctors give fills under florscope each time which is also offered by true results. GOOD LUCK and Congradulations.

Anyone Not Tighter In The Am?

I have been banded since March 2012 and dont feel tight in the morning. Like Carolina girl said you are early in the process and there will be plenty of time to feel restriction but for now just focus on healing. Also a cup of food or less is really the amount you will eat once you have good restriction before then you will more than likely eat more just because you have no restriction and the same size stomach. Be sure to eat healthy foods and always protien first. I have had 4 fills (4.1 cc) and still have very little restriction but I am getting there. Everyone's band is diffrent just listen to your body and only eat if you are hungry.

    First Fill

You will loose when you have restriction. There is one person who says it all the time on the forum " Lap band with out restriction is just another diet." So count your calories work out at least 30 min even if its just a walk around the block and with a few fills you will be moving and shaking with great speed.
  12. You are right, it is always better to ask and sometimes people who have lost a ton of weight forget that they had the same questions you do. I would say the band helps me realize when I am full and I am able to push the plate away. The band unlike other procedures like the sleeve, bypass and DS is a much slower process but it helps and has better long term results overall thats why I choose it. I am still very early in the process 3 1/2 months post op and have lost 10lbs with 3 fills. My doctors and others say the real weightloss comes when you have good restriction which can be 1-6 months for some after surgery. You will also need to commit to exersizing at some point like walking 30 min a day and think about what your eating and choosing foods that have a higher nutritional value like salad with griled fish or chicken vs. a hamburger. At the end of the day the band doesnt make it easy to loose weight but the choices you make and and the abality to feel full and push the plate away do be come eaiser. Good luck to you and keep posting the questions you are asking could be the ones others are thinking and to afraid to ask.

    Third Fill Hell!!!

You have a smaller stomach and need to devlope a new way of eating, this is exactly what is supposed to happen. If you can drink warter and chew your food well enough for it to go down then you are on your way to success. I would give it a week to get comfortable with the new restriction and if it becomes to unbearble then call your doctor and get an appointment.

    Is This Normal??

This happens to me with first meal of the day which leaves me feeling the urger to clear my throat often. I will say there are some triggers for this like if i eat anything with curry or ceartin spices. I would suggest starting out with a warm soup before eating your meal and take a mental note of what foods make you feel this way and if possiable avoid them. Good luck.

  18. Thanks for the motivation. I am 3 months post op have had 3 fills with 3.5 in my band. I have very little restriction so i know i am not in the green zone but I do eat quite a bit less.I will say take advanatage of the green zone and bump up your work outs this will help you speed the process and most of all have that cute little body that we all want that is strong and beautiful. Good luck to you all I am so thankful for this message board.

    I Feel Like A Failure

There is nothing wrong with you it happens to everyone. I am still new to this ( banded 3/23/2012) but learning the lap band has major ups and downs untill you get some good restriciton ( which i dont yet have but hope to on Monday with my 4th fill) You will be fine and loose tons of weight. Also make sure if you are able to at least do a little walking every day 15 min to start and go from there. Good luck.
  20. I took off 5 weeks mostly becase I needed a vacation and wanted to take my time healing. Inittally I was approved for 2 weeks then asked my doctor for additional time and he was very good with giving me the additional 3 weeks off. My company offers STD ( short term disiablity ) benifits so i took advantage of them. I also was self pay which helped me keep my business to myself also this surgery is defiently corverd under the FMLA law so you cant loose your job for taking the time you need to recover. At the end of the day its up to you and your doctor. Good luck.

    Gained Five Pounds!

I gained five pounds between my first and second fill and let me tell you it scared the shitake out of me. I have since then started walking 30 minuets a day roughly 2 miles and it has helped. I was banded in March 2012 so I am still pretty new at this and have very little restriction after 3 fills, but hoping the 4th is a charm. Good luck and keep us posted. Dont get to down on yourself it happens to everyone.
  22. How wonderful I am so proud of you. Welcome to the rest of your life.
  23. Hello all, I am not there yet and have 3.5 cc's in a 10 cc band. I have very little restriction and look forward to the day when I can really tell this band is working. Good luck to you all.
  24. Hello everyone, I had my surger 3/21/2012 I had my first fill 5/1 second fill June 1 3rd fill 6/26 and have not lost any weight and have NO restriction. Now dont get me wrong I do not expect the band to be a magic bullet but I als paid nearly 10k for some help ( I am self pay) and have not gotten any. If I could eat salads every day and work out consistenly 30 min per day on my own I would have and saved my nest egg for other things but I ddi not. I put me first made a decsison to invest in me much like i invested in the new care expecting that I would buy the car and put gas in it and it would bet me where I needed to go. Has anyone else had these issues. I went to my dr. and demaded a fill last Monday after grinding my teeth everyday for the last month. I am not eating as much I use to but I am only stopped by MY willpower no restriction no change in the feeling I had before the band. Is this bandster hell ? How did you get thru this and how much had you lost 3 months post surgery. I am looking for support because I feel like everyone is looking at me ( mostly partner is) saying you havent lost any weigth. I need to know that I am not alone. I am 33 5'7 243 pounds and was at 326 10 years ago before surgery and did it on my own. Now that i choose to have the surgery because I dont want to ever get to be that heavy again I feel like a failure and am Sad in bandster hell :-(

    Alone

Good morning. I want to say first of all congraulations for taking the first step and knowing that WLS is about you and your longterm out look and happiness in life. This is not an easy thing to do and the weight will not fall off by itself nor wil it happen overnight. This surgery I am learning is only a tool and after being banded for 4 months and only lost 4 lbs I am hear to tell you things wont be easy. However if you do not have the support of your boyfriend it will make it that much harder espcially if you are an emotional eater. In the first few months you will see very little change if any in your eating protions and after the surgery you will be sore and unable to work out for awhile at least 30 days. If your boyfriend is not supportive this will not help you at all through the healing process physically or emotionally. My suggestion as others have mentioned would be to invite him to a seminar with you, also take him to a dr. appointment (I did that with my girlfriend and it helped a lot) so that he can be edcuated on the procedure and also how STRONG one really has to be to take on this commitment. Good luck to you in whatever your deceision is I look forward to reading all your future success story postings.
