Congrats! I' date=' too, just hit 197 (.2) today:)[/quote']Congrats to you too!!! I try not to weigh myself but once a week now, because my weight has been coming off very slow... I generally only lose 1-2 lbs per week IF ANY! And the last 2 times I weighed in, I was holding steady at 200.4 so you can imagine how thrilled I was to see 3 whole lbs gone this morning!!!!!!!

That's so awesome! What an inspriation. I'm getting sleeved on Thursday' date=' and it's stories like yours that make me so excited to start my new life! The thought of being in Onderland! Last time I was there, I was a young teenager!!! Awesome work girl![/quote']Good luck on Thursday! This was honestly the best thing I could have ever done for myself. I would do it over and over again if I had the choice.
Just a couple of pointers for ya.....
--Stay in the hospital (with the iv meds) as long as you can, because it's hard to swallow the oral pain meds at first.
--take an acid reducer (omeprazole is my favorite) everyday, whether you think you need it or not...and trust me, you'll need it. I have a bottle of Gaviscon to sip on for acute heartburn attacks as well. That combo seems to be the best.
--follow your post-op instructions to the tee. Don't try to push yourself to eat something you shouldn't, because it WILL come back up...or it will get stuck and feel like someone's punched you in the sternum.
--keep a heating pad, chapstick, and Gaviscon by the bed.
---try not to compare your results to others. Everyone loses at a different pace.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep us all posted!

Congrats Beecharmer' date=' Isn't it Awesome!!After 4 1/2 months post surgery I finally got to "Onederland" on July 29th, haven't been under 200 in over 10 years. Feels So Good![/quote']
I know, it's been years since I've been able to see the 100's too! It feels great!! Makes all the hard work and all the $$$ spent feel like it's finally paying off!

Congratulations! I just recently got back into the 200's and I'm thrilled about that. I can't wait until I see the 100's again. Keep up the good work! That's a great milestone in itself! You go girl!

I'm finally back in the 100's!!!!! As of this morning, I weighed in at 197. That is down 40 lbs since being sleeved on May 10th!!!!!!!!!!
I honestly feel so much better already. My lower back isn't constantly hurting and my heel pain is slowly getting better. I work on my feet all day (medical assistant) and I used to be in severe pain by 10am, but now I can make it through the whole work day without any! And I'm not super stiff when I first wake up. Not to mention, I was finally able to fit into size 16 jeans!!!! I'm absolutely loving the fact that I can wear (some) cute clothes now!
I still have a long road ahead, with about 70 lbs to go, but I'm celebrating today!!

I started trying sips of rum & coke right around 7 weeks post op, but it didn't sit very well. I tried again at 8 weeks p.o. and have been able to drink a little here and there ever since. It def does not take as much to get me a little tipsy now though!

You go girl!!!!! Congratulations! So happy for you!

Thanks for the reply. I started back at the gym yesterday-- did the stair climber, treadmill and elliptical. I have an ab-cruncher machine at home that I also started using yesterday. Just hope the lbs start melting off again.

When is it ok to start working out with weights and doing things like pilates without risk of getting a hernia? I'm 6 weeks post-op, and I've only lost 30 lbs. I've been in a stall for the last 2 weeks and haven't lost a single pound! I've been trying not to let it bother me, but I really want to lose more weight than this. I still have another 70 lbs to goal.
I really don't want to run the risk of hurting myself though. Any advise would help.

Congrats!!!! So happy for you!! Keep up the good work!

I will be 4 weeks post op this Thursday and still have to take acid reflux daily. I take one omeprazole every day (cut in half with a pill slicer) which seems to help after you've taken it for several days in a row. And I swallow a few teaspoon fulls of Gaviscon before bed a few times a week. Gaviscon is the best!! Doesn't taste very good going down, but it lasts through the night. I still can't seem to drink orange juice or eat super citrus-acidic foods...those seem to bring on a tummy ache. But all in all, with the daily omeprazole at the very least, I feel pretty good!
I hope you start feeling better soon. Hang in there!

I am not a soda drinker but I had a rum and coke ( I know...bad me!) at 10 weeks and only had one and there wasnt really that much soda in it...it was strong!Did it hurt your stomach at all going down? Only reason I even posted this question was because I'll be celebrating my birthday this upcoming weekend, and I'd like to have a cocktail. My drink of choice is rum & coke also. I'm only 3 weeks post op, and don't ever get the urge to drink soda straight. Never really did before either. I just don't want to get all dolled up, go out, just to feel terrible after my first few sips of a cocktail. Just curious.

How soon before anyone tried drinking a little bit of soda?

I hope surgery doesn't kick start my periods. I have Mirena so I am glad to have no period.I have Mirena also, and had a period for the first time in 3 years shortly after being sleeved.

Well, I'm home now and very sore! I highly recommend staying in the hospital as long as they will let you. IV meds were much easier, it's really hard to get my liquid pain meds down on my own. And I've never had heartburn or acid reflux before, but I sure do have it now! I can only seem to get in about 20oz liquids a day, and about 20g Protein. I'm trying really hard, just so afraid to overdo it. This first week might be a little rough, but I would do it all over again. Can't wait to start dropping some lbs!!
Thank goodness I have a loving husband to wait on me and two sweet dogs that want to stay right by my side.

So' date=' whenever I would get out of the shower, I would wrap the bath towel around me backwards, leave the back open because it didnt fit, of course....unless it was a beach towel. Well, yesterday I decided I would try to wrap and tuck the towel, see how far I was from being able to wear a bath towel out of the shower...IT WRAPPED, and IT TUCKED..and it was CLOSED!! NOT A BEACH TOWEL, A REAL BATH TOWEL! LOL! I felt normal for once!I am also excited to announce that I bought a few dresses from Old Navy and of course I go STRAIGHT to XL. Well, they are WAY too big! L is even a little too big. I bought 3 in L and 1 in Med, the Med FITS!! I would like to lose 10 more before I wear the med...just to feel a little more comfortable. I have had to purge my closet AGAIN, I am running out of clothes! But it is great going shopping! I almost got emotional in Old Navy. My head still hasnt wrapped around the weight loss. That is my only hold back. I don't always see the 70 lbs gone.[/quote']
That's awesome! Congrats on the 70 lbs gone!! How many weeks/months post op are you?
-
Good luck!! I'm getting sleeved on Thursday, May 10th! Can't wait. Def keep us updated on how you're doing!

Oh that is awesome! I cannot wait until I am out of my size 20/22 & in a 10!Me either!! I'm wearing a size 20/22 now & would be happy to be anything smaller. Heck, I'd start dancing if I could just get back in my 16's!

I'm going to be sleeved on May10th, and am trying to stock my pantry with lots of yummy things I can drink/eat for the first few weeks post op. Any suggestions? Protein powders, Jello, etc.
Also, any other suggestions for antacids/heating pads that I might need afterward? I just don't know what all I need.
Thanks!!

Good luck! Praying for you and your surgeon for a smooth procedure and speedy recovery.

Congrats!! 20lbs in 14days is awesome! I'm getting sleeved on May 10th and can only hope I lose that quickly. I will have a starting weight of 234 and I'm only 5'2. I hear the more you have to lose, the faster it cones off. Good luck to you!

Make sure you take your meds every 4-6 hrs as directed whether you need it or not, just to stay ahead of the pain. It gets better every day, I promise! The first few days home were the worst. Hang in there!!!!!
