  1. I will be one year on January 7th. I have figured out that my stomach finds it the hardest to digest pork and chicken.....even dark meat. I threw up after 3 well chewed bites of pork ribs on New Years...boohoo. Yet, I can digest fish and beef perfectly. K would think it would be the opposite.

I started drinking diet coke again and eating candy, but never in the amount I used to. I read the threads and feel bad for people who beat themselves up or deny themselves because everything will be okay. My goal is to give up dc again because I do believe it triggers bad food choices and becomes my drink instead of Water.

So........what is your difficult food item to digest and what remains your weakness at 1 year surgerversary?

  2. Before surgery when I would get sick, even when I was a kid, I would puke a waterfall and the sound effects could be heard from the other side of the house. The intensity was powerful. I haven't thrown up since surgery except for 2 times, both when I overate. My question is why doesn't. The puke come out like it used to (all at once?) It isn't like my throat shrunk. I just think it is weird!

  3. I don't think you blew it at all! Before surgery you would have probably eaten the whole fritter and maybe a 2 or 3 more. I would say you did a fine job of controlling and limiting yourself. You did right by not denying yourself a sweet sensation. I would change your title to "I Finally Did It!" (Meaning controlled yourself)

  4. I just wanted to know if there are people who fell off the wagon and felt that they had ruined their sleeve or felt it was not working anymore. Can that happen?

I would like to hear from people who did lil miss diva's boot camp or the pouch 5 day plan even though we don't have pouches. Did you feel a big difference?

Oh, and is it true that some surgeons do tighter sleeves than others or is this a myth?

  5. Yes, why is it that sugary items like candy go down so well? I don't have issues with anything either but I tnink I am done with my sugar binge. It doesn't give me the same pleasure that it used too. I am 3 months as of March 16th. Sometimes I think my sleeve doesn't work but as soon as I eat meat like chicken I get that feeling where I am getting full. It's like the sleeve knows what you are eating but will not stop you from eating unhealthy foods. For those who think the sleeve is an easy way out, this definitely challenges me to stay on track! The weight loss is still in my hands.

  6. Hi,

I contemplated surgery for almost 5 years. At first I thought about getting the lapband but never did. Then after 4 years of fluctuating weight I started researching again and found the sleeve.

I never thought about it the way you described although I did feel like I was cheating.......but I knew I could not do it by myself. food is a sickness I think. Think of it this way, your surgeon will be accomplishing the surgery, but it is still you who will accomplish the weight loss. Your surgeon can't control you after you go home. Your sleeve cannot control you either. You will still be the main accomplisher, I promise! I will be 3 months on April 17th and I have accomplished a lot and give the credit to myself.

You will make the right decision for yourself with time. Just remember what they say about the sleeve being a tool. You are in charge of what the sleeve accomplishes.

  7. Just want to apologize Delta. While your thread was pretty harsh, perhaps I deserved it. I am happy that you were approved and again I am sorry if my words came across as negative since it was not my intention. I just didn't want you to be denied, that's all.

    Sincerely,

    YoshiKitty

  8. Instead of listening to the responses and guidance of others, you just keep arguing and complaining which will not get you any closer to a surgery date. I have Aetna and did the 3 month plan. The doctor's office asked me to do a sleep study too even though that was not required by Aetna....And you know what I did it because that is how bad I wanted the surgery. If you get denied for not doing the psych test, you will have to appeal everything which could take a looooooooong time. Listen to your fellow sleevers that are trying to help you!

  9. You are my mirror image nicmack and you crack me up! Everything goes down good for me too, especially the forbidden liquid....grrrr. We have double trouble now because our sleeves are so abiding. Many times I wonder if I had surgery because I don't experience stuff like others.

  10. NickMac......me too! I did good post surgery and then 2 months out I took the sip I so longed for and then it turned into choosing it over Water. I started sweating a lot and getting hot. Pre-surgery I could do a 24 pack. What is it about it? I never liked coke so it wasn't like I was choosing to drink the diet version. There should be Diet Coke Anonymous..right?

  11. Aaahh thanks Dorrie! I got hooked when I was a little girl. My parents didn't have good eating or drinking habits. I cannot believe how fast my cravings came back with the Diet Coke. Today is my first day again without it so I hope the headaches are not as bad as before surgery but I'm prepared! A lot of people say to drink it flat but it is not about the carbonation. That is what makes it so wonderful especially with small chunks of ice! Okay enough day dreaming, flat or carbonated stay away from it! Amen Dorrie! I am happy that you are off of it too!

  12. I think slow weight loss is better especially if you do not want to tell others rather than your family that you had surgery. I think there will be more of a chance to keep it off too. Yes, slow weight loss bites, but imagine where you would be if you had not done the surgery. You would have gained all the weight back and then some! You're not alone and my nutritionist said not to be surprised if your weight loss follows a down, down, constant, down, constant pattern. It is very common. At least it never goes up which is new to me.....lol!

I only weigh myself at my post op appointments.

  14. I justed to share with everyone that I am back on track and said farewell again to the devil in disguise, Diet Coke. I just woke up and drank a GNC 25gram Protein Shake. I'm not going to blame myself anymore for my 2 week relapse. It was a waste of time. Now all my energy is geared to being back on track! Yay me! Two and a half months out, I never want to return to the pre-surgery girl!
