  1. I am 2 and a half months post op and ate a turkey sausage link on a wheat bun today. While the dog itself has 10 grams of protein, I feel guilty for being able to eat the whole thing. I made a good choice but was it too much? I don't feel like throwing up either.

    Binge Eating?

    So I have a question for more advanced sleevers. If I have got off track for about 2 weeks now, does that mean my sleeve is ruined and won't be effective anymore? Or, will it simply bounce right back to doing its job when i'm back on track? I don't ever want to get in this type of predicament again but beware it happens....... even after surgery!

    Binge Eating?

    I am 2 months post op and was doing great. 36 lbs lost and on track. I started drinking diet coke again....bad idea......everything I craved before surgery appeared again and my thoughts about constantly being hungry reappeared too. I feel like a failure right now and now I need to get off the dc again! Why did I do this to myself. I had a week of migrains preop just to get off the stuff. Pizza, candy, cake, chips......not like I used to but my protein and water intake has decreased dramatically. I hope my story helps and makes others understand that the bad habits and bad eating never truly disappear but I can take away the trigger which is diet coke because after surgery I had no desire for anything bad. Im not try to deprive myself of this food either I just can't control myself....even now. Please send word to lift me out of this black hole i am currently in.

    For Those Who Love Soda...

    Right? I totally agree but I think it is aspertame that is the culprit. All I know is that the sips and now gulps I have had have set me back so if you can be stronger than me don't even try it again.. Splenda does not make me crave salt and sugar. I noticed crystal light just came out with a lemonade powder that has stevia, a natural rather than artificial sweetener.

    I Am Hungry

    Oh yeah, I had no trouble with getting 3 oz in the beginning stages of the pureed diet and had no problem getting 3 oz of protein during the solid food stage. Actually meat is harder for me to digest than breads and cereals.......so weird!

    I Am Hungry

    I STARTED SECOND GUESSING IF I HAD EVEN HAD SURGERY BECAUSE LIQUID WENT DOWN AND STAYED DOWN SO EASILY. I actually got mad and disappointed because I was not experiencing the symptoms I had read about when I was educating myself. Now I am trying to realize that I am lucky to not have such terrible side effects. We just need to make sure we are choosing the right liquids since we are so fortunate.

    Soda=Never Again

    I took some sips 2 months out and then my sips turned to gulps and sat and sugar cravings came back. I cannot keep it in the house and I wish I had never sipped it. I haven't had any issues with the carbonation but it does affect my mental state because I started thinking of food more and all the things that taste sooooooo good with an ice cold diet coke.

    For Those Who Love Soda...

    I was a diet cokeaholic before surgery, easily downing a 24 pack a day.. I eventually got off it b4 surgery. 2 months out I had a craving for it and it went down fine. I ended up drinking more and more as the weeks went on which meant less water. More striking was the cravings I started to have for salt and sugar. Everything tastes so good with DC. I cannot keep it in the fridge because I will choose it over water every time. If you were addicted I would not try it because now I need to get off it again. I was honest with my doctor and he said the carbonation is not good for the stomach. He said it wasn't a big deal but that I would not receive his blessing to drink it. As for stretching, he did not give me a definitive answer but said "it could." I would not recommend even trying it because you will go back to your old habits......even if it means not as much.......it still feels bad to go back.
