  1. My mom is the last person I would willingly tell. She is of the opinion that most doctors are quacks and just out for money. When I was going through some scary procedures last year to be tested for leukemia (after band & not related) she told me I was thinking myself sick and trying to give myself leukemia by convincing myself I had it... for attention... Whacko. That totally made me feel like I did the right thing with not telling her about my band. I can only imagine what her response to that would be... On the flip side I did tell my stepmom who supported my decision totally. To tell or not to tell is a case by case person by person basis for me. Close minded judgmental people have no business knowing my business. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  2. Love it. Im going to borrow it for sure! Thank you, needed the laugh Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  3. I was given the suppositories & I didnt use them, but when I got really sick with the flu the doc said to use them. So I did & they were great. Dare I say I'm wishing I had more lol. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  4. You're both right, Im going to focus on the good stuff I can have & also try to encourage rather than nag him towards the healthy things he can enjoy that will help him get stronger without clogging up the arteries or gastric tract. He loves fresh fruit & veggies so we are good there. we are in Texas afterall, so good steak is plentiful. He & I are both allergic to fish so so we do gravitate to the chicken & steak & pork. I think I got ahead of myself & was just picturing the gorge at first & not the realistic methodical approach. Thank you for the clarity & kind words ladies! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  5. My BF is coming home tomorrow after being in the hospital for about 2 1/2 months. In new York. We live in Texas. Other than the major readjustment of life in general, he has had major health issues and lost 50-70 lbs of weight/muscle he didn't have to spare. Now he has been put on meds to help him regain an appetite & they want him to eat & eat & eat and gain some weight before even thinking about starting to exercise again. So, I buy skim milk for me, he needs whole milk. I get no fat salad dressing/vinagrette, he goes for blue cheese with a side of bacon lol. Can you say complete opposite of what I need to do? Grocery shopping is going to be a b***h. Excited he will be home but nervous too. I've done ok while he was gone & lost 24 lbs in that time. I didn't have many outside influences & didnt have all this crap food in my house that I know will be here now & eating wasn't the focus of my day. Now its like my life is going to revolve around food between making sure he's getting all his needs met & me spending the time & effort I do into making better choices for myself. Am I bitching? Yeah, probably... I'm just going to have to suck it up... Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  6. I love that line & love Aldi. I've compared labels on it & for processed convenience foods I think it's a good option & sure beats the heck out the prices elsewhere. I'm trying to remember anything I've tried that I didn't like, and I can't recall offhand. Like anything, read the labels & check the counts to be sure it's in line with your own needs but overall I think it's definately worth a try. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  7. I realized today I weigh less than what my drivers license says I do, which was a "wishful thinking" number too start with! Thank goodness they dont call you on it! I always figure DMV & police must look at the weights people have down for themselves & laugh. I think when I hit goal Im going to insist on a new license with my real weight & a new pic & then find reasons to get pulled over just so I can show it off ~lol. 8. *damn phone... Lol Two weeks later I was with him as he passed and I decided I was not going to wait until I got cancer, chemo, or had let anymore of life pass me by before I did something about it. Within two weeks of getting back after his passing I had an appt, went self pay and had the surgery less than a month from when he passed. I wasn't fully educated & was making an emotional decision - which I know is not the right thing to do - but I don't regret it one bit. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  9. I was with my father while he was in his final months and watched him fight the lung cancer that was starting to win. He had been heavy his entire adult life and was a hard worker but missed out on a lot of enjoyable experiences because he was just too tired with the extra weight. In the end, after the chemo and cancer took its toll he was as skinny as he had been since high school. He was so proud of how skinny he was, even tho it wasn't for good reasons. He started talking in wishful thinking of all the things he wanted to do before it was too late. Two weeks later I Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  10. So... I don't know if I'm sadistic or what is going on with my head, but... Lately when im craving something in bad hard way I find myself logging into GrubHub and perusing the online menus for all these restaurants over and over again, I go so far as picking things an putting them in my "basket" and get myself all worked up and then... Wham, reality or willpower - I'm not sure if its either one really but I'd like to think so - set in and I cancel it out before ever actually ordering it. I think it's like my food porn... So, there are support groups for porn addicts & food addicts, I wonder if I'm crossing into food porn addict territory? Lol... Just a crazy quirk I guess... So far its been harmless Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  11. I love my "hello kitty" toddler fork and spoon. I am not super coordinated but if I really want to slow myself down I use chopsticks when eating things like steak or meats. I once did it with baked Beans. Not recommended lol think I got as far as ten bites each consisting of an individual baked bean lol. meat i will cut up in small bites to start & then It makes me work for each bite. I get tired of trying to master the chopsticks (thanks ADD) and end up savoring each bite. Maybe it helps me more because only about half of my attempts ever make my mouth. I've not yet attempted this in public nor have I started a concealed carry with the toddler ware but it sure has helped me at home. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

  13. Forest Park Medical Center. 75 & Forest Lane. I had to wait 4 weeks from the time I called for a Sat appt. it was worth the wait to me. Fill done with fluoroscopy for $50 self pay. Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  14. I'm on Adderall for my ADD and I think my band might be tightening up as the day goes on after i take it & its been in my system a couple hours(no problem getting it down). My schedule was weird this weekend & didn't take my adderall sat or sun so of course my appetite was increased because of it ~ which i fully expected But I don't think it was all head hunger as it felt as if the volume of food I could comfortably . I didn't go crazy but I did eat more than I normally do. Monday rolls around and I take my adderall as usual and by noon I can barely get down my lunch. I'm wondering if due to adderall being a stimulant is it perhaps it is causing my band to swell and give me a wee bit more restriction during the peak day hours? Or is it the stress at work? Maybe both? Im not complaining about it, but wondered if anyone taking ADD meds like adderall or vyvanse has had anything similar? Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  15. Thank you! So far so good
  16. I had my first fill ever there this past Saturday. It took me a month to get in, but it was so worth it. $50, as a self pay without insurance. Didnt get mine done there originally. They did it with flouroscope and were amazing! Checked my level with barium before unhooking me. No hidden charges, very informative and interested in what my goals were and what I had been doing and eating prior to gauge what my fill level should be. I got the feeling they really were I was so nervous before hand because I hate needles, but they were really great. Being a self pay who financed, the thought of having to pay 150-200 in addition to my monthly payments was kinda overwhelming. I definately would recommend them. I had to call a scheduling service at 1-855-BANDFIL. Calling for my six week follow up appt next week so I can be sure to get back in.
  17. I'm in North Dallas and just getting myself in the swing of things. Had my surgery June 2010 with very little restriction, 2.5; which was ok since I was traveling for work & having to do business dinners fairly often the less restriction gave me freedom for that. I had not had a fill and lost about 45 lbs, but this weekend i finally got one and really want to do this not so half-ass as I admittedly have been. Rapid weight loss was not my original goal, overall health and feeling better about myself was. I think now the my two year mark is approaching I'm having a freak out moment where I realize I have let precious time go by that I could have had much better results with. When I went in they measured my fill at 2.0 and filled me to 3.5. I Was doing so mny things wrong I'm surprised I lost any weight at all. I'd love to know some Texas peeps going thru this. No one I know can fathom my decision other than a handful wh
