    Post Prandial Ghrelin Response

Nice to know and thanks for posting. What is surprising is that it is completely opposite to the saying/recommendation that we should eat our carbs early in the day. I should get back on the wagon. Cheers !

I Did It. Ran My First 5K.

    Congratulations. Very inspiring indeed.
  3. You simply should not be doing this. Your stomach secretes much lower levels of Grehlin now. I really have no explanation as why you cheat ?!? If your acid reflux without cheating persists, you must call your doctor.
  4. Don't believe a word of what she said. She might be scared. But she also might be jealous.... However bare in mind that surgeries in general have risks, and no one has immunity, even if their girlfriend tells them that they are going to be fine.

    Alcohol After Surgery?

No alcohol, no smoking after surgery. Alcohols gives you much calories without nutrients. Instead you should maximize nutrients, minimize cals, eat small quantities to match your new pouch. Smoking can cause ulceration of the stomach, as well as make you sometimes dizzy and breathless. Six months down the road, yo can do alcohol and smoke.
  6. Good luck on your journey. I like your strong attitude and will. Keep us updated in case you need remote support.

@changing b4 your eyes : it is one year after reaching and stabilizing your optimum weight. So it can be at least two years post-op.

    Helppp

No need for panic, it happens. As long as you are not eating less, chewing more, keeping yourself well hydrated, and upping your metabolism with exercise, it will eventually come off.
  9. Your diet seems ok. I hope you mean raw almonds not roasted almonds which are very fattening. Also please remember that 10 raw almonds put you at about 100 cals. Drink more water, and up your metabolism through exercise. It will come off, trust in yourself.
  10. I had this before, and it was due to not drinking enough water. When I increased my water intake to 2.5-3 liters per day, the pain went away. I am not sure if you have the same condition, hence I advise you to see your doctor ASAP. Meanwhile drink lots of water. To make it easier for you, I would suggest you cut one slices of lemon, cucumbers, carrots, and drink the water. Cheers to you.

    Not Losing

No problem. Don't focus on the balance. Keep your water intake high. It will come. During a recent vacation travel, I did not weigh myself for 3 weeks and when I got back, I found I let an additional 14 pounds. Don't worry.

    242 To Go.. :(

Welcome Amanda, I was 495 pounds on surgery date back in march 2012. I lost 130 pounds so far, and I gained a new me. I still a lot to go, and still very encouraged by the results so far. VSG will transform your life. I am now able to do things that were impossible for to do pre-op. I always have the urge to move, to go out, and not to stay at home. I am not afraid of stairs. I fit in the airplane seat without using an extension belt. I ride cable cars, and walk long distances. I eat intelligently, and only nutritious food. I share more activities with my family. I fit in theatre chairs with no problem. My appetite is completely transformed, I have no cravings, I do not wake up in the middle of the night to graze anymore. In short I have zero negative side effects and tons of positives. Go for it !
  13. Jessfharris, your friend is plain ignorant. The amount of grehlin hormone secreted by the anterior wall of the stomach, has an extremely powerful effect on the brain. Doing a VSG reduces the amount of hormones by 90% !!! It is amazing how ignorant people can talk as if they know everything !
  14. Goodluck for both of you. One week difference between both ops is good, because he will need personal during that period.
  15. Congratulations on your new you. You look awesome. It seems that thebhair loss is due to low vitamins/protein. I would like to ask you, did you excercise ? Congrats again.
  16. I had no post op diet. I did it at 225kg, now , 5 month later i weight 181 kg. I enjoyed the liquid phase, at least i was not hungry at all, and did not fantasize about food like pre op. It seems that the anterior wall of stomack, which generates the grehlin hormone, was responsible for most of my food fantasizing. Good luck and enjoy
  17. Angelofmercy, you hang-in there. The benefits of the vsg outshines any fears of it, by light years. I took 5 different appointments with 5 different surgeons in 3 different countries over the las 3 years, to bail out every single time, until i reached 225kg ! When i found a surgeon who ha d a different approach related to surgery risk management, i braced myslef and said this time there is no turning back. My determination, made everybody around in the supporting camp instantaneously. This surgeon was using a special robot, that reduced the risk of leakage a lot. No i am a completely different person. No side effects at all. Stand firm, and goodluck.
  18. That was great. Congratulations and wishing you the best of luck keeping it up.

    Middle East

Hello everybody, I am now almost 6 months post-op. i lost 42 kilos so far and went down 2 sizes. This i my fourth stall, but this one is different, i actually picked up 2 kilos. I still eat sensibly, and try o kepp my water/luid intake to about 2-2.5 liters per day. Sometimes however i overeat, and feel very uncomfortable afterwards. I still avoid carbs and sweets, but can have a fork or two jut for tasting. Life is great at his stage. I am reaal looking for more weightloss through exercise now, but unfortunately i have a heel spur that gives e great pain. As for the medicines, i stopped taking Calcium pills bcause it was giving me very painful constipations. I still take my Vitamins. I am also down to half dose for my blood pressure medicine. What works best for me, is to have multiple small meals/snacks, instead of 3 full meals. When i do not eat for a few hours i feel pain around the oesophagus area. To make it disapear i have to eat something, or drink lots of Water in medium sips, untl i can eat. I eat fruits in small quantities as Snacks. I also add some nuts (10 almonds or cashews make about a 100 calories, and are very good for heart.) I aslo make veggy juices or vegy/fruit juices. I use cantaloup, celery, apple, carrot, orrange,.... They give a great boost of energy of vitality. Good luck to all of you in your new life. Please share your stories more often. Cheers !

Why Does The Elliptical Kick My Butt?

Pre surgery, i could do the elliptical for only 5 sec, really. Post-op and after losing around 60 pounds, i could do it for 2 minutes. Then, I saw someone who was doing it slowly, and on minimum resistance, and it inspired me to do the same. Yesterday, i did a whole seven minutes. It is the best exercise i have, much better than the treadmill. It exercises more muscles, and it is much gentler on my knees. As a bonus, i can easily climb a flight of stairs without huffing and puffing.

    Morning Wood

I can safely confirm the morning wood case here. I would rarely have it before surgery, but post-up, whenever I wake up, it is here saluting me. Another thing worth mentioning is the increased level of libido. This surgery is full of positives.
  22. Nothing to add here. You have to call your doctor. I am surprised by your navel comment, since the surgery site is quite distant !? Let us know what you did.
  23. You lost quite some weight. You know it. You feel it. You can also see it if you have before and after pics. One thing is for sure : Your body needs time to reshape. Exercise will help. Good luck.

    2Am And Pretty Scared

I hope you are not smoking. If you are, you have to quit immediately to avoid ulceration of the stomach. See you doctor, and have some blood tests.
