Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
- Week 1 - Weigh In
Well done! Looking forward to following your journey:)- Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Right behind you on the 26th Debbie and couldn't agree more. Just imagine how amazing we'll all feel in a few months time...!- Salad/raw Veggies - When Can I Have?
Does seem strange to be suggesting that you can have that already though. I'm not sleeved 'til 26 April but the literature that I got from the dietician recommends Clear liquids for first two weeks (I can hardly wait?!) Hope you are keeping well. Looks like you've had a bit of a rough time having gone through a slipped band and removal last year. After all that you really DESERVE to be slim:))- Salad/raw Veggies - When Can I Have?
Textured Vegetable Proteins (TVP) is a vegetarian substitute for meat that's generally made from soy flour. www.livestrong.com/article/270264-what-is-textured-vegetable-protein-made-from- I'm Sleeved!
I have a friend who sobbed uncontrollably at around day 3 or 4 mark. Probably a mix of relief that it's over, nerves about the next few weeks, mixed in with post-anesthesia reaction. She was sleeved at the end of September, is around 84lbs lighter and couldn't be happier! Hang in there you are not crazy, this too will pass:)- Nervous
Remember to take your measurements today and some photos. I know, I know it's a VSG-er's worst nightmare but most of us haven't had a photo taken in years and have absolutely no idea what our measurements are. My Bariatric Nurse says that however much you hate the idea now you'll be glad you did when you are much further down the line or when you hit one of those "stalls" that we've heard a lot about. Often the number on the scales doesn't move but the number on the tape measure does!- Nervous
Hi Avilva I didn't know anything about drains either?! Hope you manage to get a good night's sleep. I'm sure they'll answer all your questions when you get there. This time tomorrow it'll all be over:)- Nervous
How are you holding up? Just think how well (and slimmer) you'll feel this time next week, next month...- Nervous
The very best of luck tomorrow. We'll be thinking of you:) Keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on.- Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

The very best of luck. Look forward to following your journey.- To Tell Or Not To Tell?
My Dietician said that I should decide in advance what I wanted to tell people because the weight loss can be rapid and substantial and people will assume I've been very ill (I have to say, that never occurred to me...)! I have told close friends and family who have all had their share of diet success and failures over the years. It didn't seem fair for me to lose weight and have them ask me how and for me to say "eat less move more". I know they would go away feeling pleased for me but a failure for not being able to do it themselves (we've all been there). Didn't seem fair. Each to their own though. You must do what feels right for you.- Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Hope all went well. Look forward to hearing about your "journey" to slimsville:)- Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Thanks for taking the time to update:) Was wondering how you were. It's amazing how a group of people can come together and be genuinly caring about people they will probably never meet! Take your time, make sure you are ready to go home, physically & mentally. It's exciting to think of how things are going to get better & better from here on in. Your health and being overweight affect so much - things can only get better!- Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
Great to hear from you Carly and so good of you to let us know how you are so soon after your op! Glad you are doing well. So it begins...- Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
We're nearly the last of the April Sleevers to go, Jimmy! We're going to be going crazy by the 26th The very best of luck to all those who are going before us. Here's to being healthy, happy and able to wear high heels again (maybe not you Jimmy!)- Interesting Article About Emotions Surrounding Weight
Great article, thanks!- Interesting Article About Emotions Surrounding Weight
I don't know if this link will work or if this is the place to post it but thought, as my fellow "April Sleever Buddies" and I are on the cusp of major changes, I would show you a documentary that was shown here in Scotland a couple of weeks ago that I found interesting and encouraging. It is about a surgeon who investigates what makes some people fat and she starts from her personal view that we should eat-less-and-move-more and by the end her views have changed about what makes some people overweight and how they can be helped. It deals with Gastric By-Pass but the principles hold true for us "Sleevers" too I think. Interesting, particularly the sections on hunger hormones and stress. I found it encouraging, I hope you do too... www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01dzfgb (If you can't get this link it might be on Youtube. It's a called Horizon: The Truth about Fat) Quote MultiQuote Edit- Lots Of Surgeries Scheduled For Week Of April 1

Hi Jimmy, I'm 26th April sleever too. Seems like forever away though, doesn't it! The very best of luck to you. Alison- Just To Introduce Myself
Wow Courtney, just noticed you've lost 7lbs already!!! Well done- Just To Introduce Myself
...and to you! Here's to being slimmer and a whole lot healthier by the end of the year.- Nerves Are Starting To Kick In
Isn't this interesting. At 14 all I ate was 3 dry Cream Crackers all day and toast/jam (jelly) for dinner. Hope somebody somewhere is taking note of this pattern. ( Linkybo, what's a "Hoho"? I've heard my daughter use the word as a euphemism for part of her anatomy! Clearly not the same thing in the US as it is here in Scotland:) ) At least none of our kids will hopefully follow our pattern. They will see us eating good food, in small amounts and looking slim and healthy- Nerves Are Starting To Kick In
I know what you mean, it'll be good to free up the closet space as we get rid of those larger sizes one and for all!! I'm going on a family holiday to the island of Tenerife next week and come back to immediately start my pre-op diet. This will be the last holiday that I wear my sarong to the edge of the pool, stand pretending to look for my children in the pool when actually I'm waiting until the ladder is free so that I can quickly drop to sarong and get into the Water without anyone noticing. Next holiday I will be striding confidently to the poolside in my small swimming costume (my body has NEVER seen a bikini, even when I was a US 6/8 (I'm 5' 2") )! - too much pale Scottish skin on show is not a good look). Might even get a spray tan... - Week 1 - Weigh In
