Janedeaux...ME TOO!! Sleeve sister!

I got a book on Ebay that was for therapists with WLS patients. It said that, with relationships and marriages where the partner was heavy at the beginning of the relationship, there was an 80-85% chance that the relationship would dissolve after the weight loss that came after surgery. Hmmmm...makes you wonder, huh?

Just a month away from my surgery date, and I am dreaming in slimness! My me in dreams is the me I am envisioning. Isn't that funny? LOL

Eek...typos galore on that last post! Hope you can read it!

PEvette....the glitter nails ound so great but you should heck to see if you can have your nails colored during surgery. I know the color of the skin under your nails is a big indicator of oxygen issues during operations so many places don't want you to wear it...

My approval came through last Thursday! Yippee! June 25 is getting closer...thank God I am so hyperbusy at school so my mind is occupied. The initial thrill has lessened and left some room nor anxiety and fear. Already on a roller coaster of emotions.

Thanks, Skifast, for your suggestions and advice. I am reading a lot about it, taking notes, ordering Protein samples and generally getting very excited. I went to my PCP, who is equally excited for me. He noticed my B12 was done, so I had a series of shots, and will get one a week until my surgery date. Topping up the tank, he calls it. I'm also going to start taking Iron pills, as my levels there are on the low side. I am 54 years old, and food has been an issue all my life. My mother used to say that my sister would ask, 'what can I do?' while I would ask, 'what can I eat?' LOL. I went through a few years in high school where I shed a lot of weight, was quite thin and kept to a healthy weight until I was about 40. After that, I had a series of bad events happen in my life, and it was ll I could do to get up in the morning, let alone put energy into eating well. Now I am 5'7" and 280 lbs. My knees hurt, I am pre-diabetic, I have low energy all the time and worry about having a heart attack. My dad was exactly my age when he died of one. So, I know I can do this thing, if I work at getting back to a good mindset. I just bought an Urban Rebounder, which is kind of fun, but makes me out of breath very quickly. I hope it won't be the case when I am not moving so much weight around. I wish I didn't have to wait so long for surgery. I find myself having 'food funerals' and I don't think this is a good way to think or act. Sanssouci, good for you on your upcoming! I'll be looking forward to hearing how it goes for you. -
A Story From A Newbie
Artichokes replied to NancyJerry's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm lucky, I suppose...I've been very vocal about my upcoming surgery and am so darned excited about it, I don't think anyone would dare to say anything against it. . If they did, I suppose I would give them my reasons for doing it and, if they still weren't on board, I might just go the distance & tell them evryone's entitled to their opinion, but their's isn't going to change mine, so perhaps they should quit while they are ahead. . So far as those nurses go, shame on them! I would tell your surgeon about it. You're in a vulnerable state & they are saying things that are somewhat treasonous...don't you think? I don't understand why strangers feel the need to comment on the decision of someone that isn't known to them. Crazy! -
June 25th here, as well. Dr lautz at Brigham & Women's in Boston. I teach 4th grade.

Artichokes replied to Hopeful Spirit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone. I'm scheduled for surgery on June 25, which will be just after I get out of school for the summer (4th grade teacher). I will be having Dr. David Lautz as my surgeon at the Brigham. Is this still an active group? I'm looking forward to chatting with you all throughout the process. -
