luauna reacted to slojo in Belly And Clothing Prolong My Incision HealingMy surgeon said i could clean that and put a piece of surgical (sterile) tape over it to prevent rubbing and change it a few times a day if draining. If not draining daily...A non stick gauze changed often if it is really draining...

luauna reacted to O.T.R. sleever in Macho Cheese DoritosMost people are cleared for full foods somewhere between 4-8 weeks from surgery(Doritos would fall into this category) the staple line isn't considered fully healed till 6weeks post op, so I would at least wait till then.
Now that I have answered your "technical" question I would like to add
Carbs(white carbs)like chips trigger cravings. The more of them you eat, the more you want. So I strongly recommend stayin as far away from these as you can
If you just can't resist then I recommend you buy the smallest bag you can, chips are one of those things that just won't fill us up.
And most of all write your goals down this journey is so much easier with specific goals and timeframes. When you are pursuing a goal it's it's easy to say no to those garbage foods.

luauna reacted to lollyfidy1965 in Failure?Ali....unlike many who "fail" after WLS, you have the grace to say "this is all my fault." Do you realize how much strength it takes to do that?? Particularly in such a public forum?? I'm not sure I would be able to do the same. (Oh, I would place all the blame squarely on myself, but I doubt I'd wave that flag publicly!)
If you're strong enough to do that, surely you're strong enough to get yourself back on track...right? If you don't feel up to the task on your own (even with the support of the love of your life), reach out to the program that performed your surgery. I'm sure your surgeon and nutritionist would be thrilled to see you getting seriously back on the right path...and that they would be more than willing to help you rediscover the road to success! Do whatever you need to do in order to make it happen...its NEVER too late to get it right!! (It might be more challenging, but it will never be impossible!)
I wish you great success, and peace of mind, as you continue on your amazing journey!

For the first week post-op I would have strangled a grizzly bear with my bare hands for a Five Guys burger. Since then I've had no major cravings.

luauna reacted to DEZ1975 in Almost 2 Weeks Out Eating Normal FoodEvery time you eat something that isn't puréed or mushy this early, you greatly increase your risk of a leak, until weeks 6-8. It's not worth it. Take the food they are eating and purée it. Even that would help prevent a leak. Be careful! Leaks will land you in the hospital for quite some time. I watched someone go through this and it's nothing to mess with.

All I will say is if your gonna cheat at least get the good stuff. You should have gotten a Haagen Däs bar.

luauna reacted to Almont MI sleever in 9 Weeks OutI haven't posted in a while so I thought I would do a progress report. I started at 270 lbs. and am now 222! I have lost a total of 48 lbs and could not be happier with my decision to have the sleeve. I am wearing clothes that have been packed away for over 2 years. I feel so much better!! I can get my wedding rings on my finger again!! My best NSV so far was about a week ago. We have a really small bathroom and while I was in Front of the mirror getting ready for work my husband went to squeeze by me to use the bathroom and instead of squeezing through like he use to do he just walked right behind me. He stopped and was like wow!! Thats proof of how much smaller you are!! It really made me feel good!!

Happy Birthday to me! I turned 45 yesterday. For the first time ever, I did not have birthday cake for my birthday. Honestly, I didn't even want it, which was HUGE for me! Usually it is all I can think about leading up to my birthday. I never cared about the rest of the meal, but the cake would be something I gave considerable thought to. One year, I even baked my favorite cake for myself, german chocolate with the coconut pecan frosting. No one else in my family really likes it, so I ended up eating practically a whole cake over the course of a few days. This time, I was so full on my tiny dinner that cake (even a bite) would not have been an option. For a moment, I missed the birthday tradition, but when I realized that I did not even have the slightest desire for cake, I knew I had cause to really celebrate! Food, particularly sweets, no longer have a strangle hold over me! Woo Hoo! 45 is going to be a great year!!

luauna reacted to Dooter in Restaurant Booth Nsv (Pic)This must be the night for "Booth or Table" NSVs!! Hooray!!
7 months ago, I went to this pizza place here in Albuquerque, and the only place to sit was a teeny tiny booth for 2. I reluctantly sat there with my husband, and I had to SQUUUEEEEEEZE myself into it, and then it was hard to eat because the table was pressing me in half and I was hanging out in the aisle. I cried in frustration and embarrassment. I told him at the time I was going to come back in six months and make that booth my B***H!!
Well, here's my B***H:
Take THAT booth!!

luauna reacted to thebionicbroad in Hi...starting The Vsg Process With KaiserHopeful, I live in Wildomar, and had to travel all the way to Kaiser South Bay in Long Beach/Torrance for my surgery (last December). Now, Kaiser is doing it locally. Since I was an emergency lap-band revision, I only had to wait 2 weeks, and didn't have to go through the Options classes. What I did find out is that Kaiser is big on compliance. Do what they tell you to the letter, and things will go a lot smoother for you. Especially when they want you to lose weight pre-op to shrink your liver. They don't listen to excuses. Good luck, and keep us posted.

luauna reacted to lyndynojo in Before And AfterSo here are some photos almost exactly 1 year apart. ( I hope I can get them on here LOL)

I got my sleeve on June 5, 2012. I really started getting serious with my nut April 1, 2012, when I tipped the scale at 373. (5'6") I've lost a total of 100 pounds since. For any pre surgery folks that are reading, this is what you can look forward to.
I can tie my shoes without holdin my breath
I can cut my own toenails
I can go up at least 6 flights of stairs and not pass out
I can hug my kids and their hands touch at my back (first time in their lives)
I can sit at a booth when we go to a restaurant
I can buy pants off the rack, without going to a big and tall store
(on a funny note) I can put on my 'starter jeans' and my 14 year old son can get in them with me, and we still have room
I can walk 2.25 miles and still feel like going further
I can prepare healthy food that doesn't suck, even my kids love Emilybites.com recipes
I CAN, and I repeat I CAN do this. I CAN win this, I CAN be healthy and better for my wife and kids.
And trust me, if I can, so can you. Because I have sucked at this and failed my whole life, but now, it has become second nature and I have all the tools to fix what I let get broken, and so do you.
Much love
O

luauna reacted to Bigdogkc in Early Soft FoodsIt never ceases to amaze me how many absolute judmental jerks post on this board. Everyone here has a problem with food, so you would think that would bring people together and they would have sympathy for eachother. The point of the board is to SUPPORT one another. Instead I see post after post from people that get up on their high horse and talk down to those that are having a tougher time than they are. That isn't helpful it is hurtful. Didn't your mothers ever teach you that if you don't have something nice to say then keep your mouth shut? Izuri - you could have made the exact same points you wanted to make, but in a supportive way, instead you sound like a stuck up, know it all, that clearly never did anything wrong ever in your life. You are not the worst one on here, so I am sorry for singiling you out, but you are the last I will read. I am through with this site, and will find one that is actually supportive. I hope for the sake of new people that come here looking for help, that you people realize how detremental you are being to those in need.
