  1. I take Biotin and prenatal pills. U would be surprised what prenatal pills do for you whether u r pregnant or not.

Are you able to swallow pills at this time? I am not able to do that yet, but soooo looking forward to when I can. I tried the Bariatric Advantage Vitamins and almost hurled. I can't even choak them down. I am taking extra B vitamins though along with another chewable Vitamin. Is there any biotin that is chewable? Would like to get a jump on this issue. I also looked up foods that were higher in biotin, but since I am on pureed foods still, I can only get so much in. Thanks again for the info.

  2. I take it for my migrains, but I got it down to just 50 mg. The lowest dose and that is all I need. Yes. It does effect your memory and I NEVER lost one pound from taking it. It also helps my fibromyalgia and has fewer issues than some of those other drugs. I would never take it just for weight loss. I have been off it cold turkey since surgery. If I can keep the head pain at bay, I will never go back. Never effected my taste that I know of.

  3. I also was worried and felt the same, but feel so much better having lost some weight, I should have done it sooner. Yes, you miss your old "food friends", but you make new friends and you learn that those "food friends" were no friends at all. Just a ball and chain holding you back from a healthy life. We will be here for you. Keep us posted.

  4. Cottage cheese mashed potatoes, egg salad, tuna with light mayo and a bit of light ranch dressing. Add in some carrots... Just a few baby carrots and blend. FF refried Beans. I tried blended lentil Soup, it did not sit well for me. Blended bean and ham soup. That is all I can think of. Glad I purchased a Magic Bullet!!! It has been soooooo useful. Best of luck. I am on pureed for two weeks, then mushies for three and then transition to regular foods.

  5. I am starting week 3 and I was not allowed to leave the hoapital until my system was moving. I was also told to keep some Phillips liquid on hand and to never go 3 days with out moving my bowels. That said, I used the Philips when day 4 came around and nothing was moving. That was liquid needless to say

Two days later, happened on its own. Again, liquid. I was also told to expect that for a while based on what I am taking in. I just started pureed foods today.

  6. Karen' date='

I am more concerned with the Protein more than the liquids. My surgeon doesn't really want the Protein to count towards liquids, but I got to get in what I can right now.

    Melissa[/quote']

Thanks Melissa. I actually got 60 grams of protein down in shakes yesterday. A victory for sure. I have also seen that low protein means slower weight loss at least for me. I dropped 3 pounds just by getting my protein up. So, starting off this morning with a 30 gram Protein shake again. Have a good day. Karen

  7. I asked this somewhere else but no one replied. So hoping you all can help me...What can I eat for the soft foods stage that is lactose free? Right now I am mostly eating chicken & tuna salad' date=' protien shakes, popsicles and applesauce. Even the cream Soups bother my stomach.[/quote']

Have you tried getting the lactaid pills to see if they help with the lactose issue? I know they can be chewed as my mom has to do so before any dairy products. I am not sure that it is the lactose though that is bothering all of us with these dairy products as lactose usually acts up in the intestines, not the stomach.

Ummmm. Interesting. I feel your pain though. And egg salad just about killed me. I tried it myself two days ago. Sent me to bed and I had to take some Zofran I was so sick from it. On the other hand, the cream of chicken Soup is fine but potato, not so good on my tummy. Mashed potatoes on the other hand feel good on ky tum. So it is a bit odd how this is all working out.

Do you like rental soup? I love Progesso' s and plan to try that in my magic bullet today. Also, I am going to get some stoffers meatloaf in gravy and blend it as well to see how that goes as it is supper moist.

I'll pick up some lactaid pills today and see if it helps and let you all know.

I did get 60 grams of Protein down in shakes yesterday. Yippie. That was a first and tomorrow I will be starting week 3 post-op.

  8. I went to my post op class and drain removal. My pain is minimal . It was less once the drain was removed. I am still having a hard time getting in 40 grams of Protein and the 64 ounces of liquids. I am trying some new drinks to see if that helps. Does any one else have this problem? If I drink to fast my chest and stomach hurts.

Yes, I am still not getting all my protein. Some days are worse than others. I also don't make all my fluids. If I try to stuff all that in, I feel sick and feel pain. I believe that it is up to the surgeon as to the size of your sleeve, right? If that is true, then mine must be on the small side.

I am not feeling bad or lacking energy, but I am worried about the protein. I am using Premier Protein since it has 30mg of protein per serving. Karen

  9. I go in next Monday (30'th) at 6:30 and on the table at 8:00. I'm having moments of fear but I keep thinking as good as I feel with having lost 10 lbs on the pre-op diet' date=' how good will I feel when I loose some real weight. being on of the last ones to go under, I hope you guys will stick around a while and help me through the post-op stuff.[/quote']

We will be around, don't worry about that and those that have been sleeved so far in April will be able to cheer you and the rest of our final group on and share our seeds of wisdom we have learned so far. All my best to you and our remaining pre-op April sleeve buddies.

  10. Janet... I had a 6 pound weight gain after surgery. Don't fret. It took me almost 6 days to see a drop on the scale at home. If your bowels are not moving, that can have an impact. Also all those fluids in the hospital really did a number on me.

As soon as I was able to drink more Water and get in some proper nutrition, things really improved. I was 314 day of surgery. Two days post op on hospital scale I was 320!!! Today, I am 307. Take heart, it will get better. I am living proof. I thought what the heck...only I can go for WLS and GAIN weight!!!!

Hang in there. You will do fine and sorry about the bruising. I still hurt too and bending over really gives me pain. We are going to make it. I know we will. Cyber hug to you.

  11. Had my surgery on mon the 23rd

God I wasn't prepared for the pain

Have your bowels started moving? Not to get too personal, but I made sure of that by day three. That really helped with all my gas pains. I was April 16 and doing ok, but I still have a bit of pain in my large upper right incision. Hang in there. It really does get better and walk, even if it is only short periods. Also Gas-ex really helps. Take care. Karen

  12. Several items in one post. No drain for me and no leak test the next day. Doc said he performed the leak test while I was in surgery and no need for another. No staples for me either. They used a medical sort of super glue to close up my 4 openings and I think my leftover stomach came out top right. I am the most sore there.

Finally, and certainly the most important, congratulations to those that have now joined us on the bench and all my best and tons of good healing vibes to those getting sleeved this week. I am thinking of you all and can sympathize with how you are feeling right before and when you wake. You all have our support. Keep is posted as you can.

    Go April Sleevers!!!!!

  13. I know when I take my omeprozale I don't get that hungry feeling. I am just struggling to get all my liquids in as well as getting all my Protein. I can't wait until I get to pureed foods as I can then do some sloppy scrambled eggs, and cottage cheese mashed potatoes so that I can have other ways to get my protein in by doing something other than Protein Drinks. At first I thought I would have no problems with the drinks, but until the swelling goes down more, they have been really difficult for me. I keep trying, even getting a few more sips before bed, but between them and Water, I just feel full all the time and I don't like that feeling. I get shoulder pain when I am full and I feel sluggish, sort of yucky.

  14. I was sleeved on the 16th. I had pain Monday and Tuesday. It felt like I had done 1,000 crunches. I walked a lot in the hospital and it helped tremendously. I had bad reflux on Tuesday night and was afraid this would be a nightly occurance. Thankfully it has not been back. I walked 1.5 miles Wednesday and Thursday and 3 miles today. I feel great. My scale says I'm down 10 lbs. I'm so excited. Today was the first day of pureed foods so for Breakfast I had Muscle Milk Light with 2 tbsp of Peanut Butter, lunch was a small cottage cheese and refried Beans, I had another Muscle Milk Light in the afternoon and for dinner I had a half pureed Purdue Perfect Portion chicken breast and some pureed mashed potatoes and green beans. I got in my Water intake and my 80 grams of Protein today. I'm so thankful that I've had no complications.

Nice you are on pureed foods already. My docs have me on full liquids for the first two weeks, so I won't start them until week 3. We were both sleeved on the same day. You seem to be doing super. How wonderful. I think I must have more swelling, because not only are foods not on my eating plan yet, I can't even think about eating even pureed foods. I am still only getting a few sips of Protein Drink down at a time. I am currently working on 8 oz. of a chocolate protein drink that I added 3 tablespoons of powdered peanut butter protein too so that I could increase the amount of protein I was getting. I have been working on getting it down now for over an hour and am only 1/2 way there.

Can't wait until I get up to where you are at. Keep up the good work. You are doing amazing!

  15. I was sleeved on the 18th. @ 830 in the am. was up walking the halls by 530 i so did not want the gas. I have a great recovery I am still not eating or drinking so much. I have a cup with Water in it that is 44 onces i have drank maybe 15 and i have had jell-o and little spagetti sause. I have to learn how to sip i have always used a straw. Good Luck everyone it is a journey that I am happy to be on cannot wait to see the final results. Only hard this is that today is my 10th anniversary and would love to have lobster.

Spagetti sauce? Wow, I would think that would be very irritating as it is acidic. I was told no Tomato products for a good 6 weeks. That suprised me that they gave that to you or did you try it at home? You must have a cast Iron stomach :) Wish I could say the same. I am still on water, Protein Drinks, popcicles and that is about all my tummy will tolerate. It is a real deal to get the Protein all in and I have yet to get more than 45 to 60 mg in one day.

  16. I also go to one associated with my surgeons office at KU Medwest, but I would be interested. I am in Belton, MO. Wonder if we could set a group up on Meet-up? Has anyone ever done a group on their? I belong to groups on Meet-up, but know nothing about setting one up. It is nice as far as getting meeting information out. Has anyone searched Meet-up to find if there is already a local group? Keep me posted.
