  1. You have my positive energy at 9. I know how you all feel. I must have checked my phone once every hour today at work. The same once I got home. This goes beyond the sleeve. It feels so good to know I am in touch with such caring people. Jimmy, like the others, my concern runs deep. Hugs and healing.

  2. Yes, I have it and was sleeved on April 16. Did it help? Well, I think it did some. I am still having upper back and shoulder pain under my shoulder blades. My hip ropy muscles are improved. Lower back is a bit better. I was not expecting this to cure it since it is not weight related but we know that the more we can keep moving, the better we are, so on that front, the weightloss is very helpful.

  3. I did it. I am 299.5 this morning!!!! I made it to the 200's. I can't believe it. I don't even recall the last time the scale was under the 300's. So glad I made this decision. It was so right for me.

Now if we can just know that Jimmy is ok, I would truly have a reason to Celebrate. This is the bad part of our close April group. How far away we are all. I am pretty sure that if we lived close, we would all be there in person for him. Hang in there Jimmy. We are still pulling for your recovery. Hugs via the cyber network.

  4. Well I finally broke through my 304, 302, 304 pattern. This morning I am 300.4. Yippee. I am so happy. 200's here I come. Once I hit them, I will weigh less than I have in 14 years when I was pregnant and I had to keep taking steroid shots to help develop my girls lungs. I knew she was going to be born early.

I feel almost giddy. I am so glad I had this surgery. Seems like when I add in fruit to my diet, I start to go down. Guess I will keep up the apple sauce and melon.

    Happy Saturday everyone!!!

  5. Went to Doctor today' date=' down 50 lbs woohoo. I am loving my new life. Best of all down 4 sizes since surgery down 2 inches in waist, 1 1/2 inches in arms and 2 on legs that's a big deal to me.[/quote']

Wow. Way to go. Is that all just post-op? If so, I think you better post your food and let me know what exercising you are doing. I am not moving any where near that speed. Keep up the wonderful job.

  6. So first three weeks I had to take Philips to keep things moving. Now, just the opposite. Out of the blue, I feel like someone is slipping me Ali. I am running for the bathroom here at work. How crazy. LOL.

On a different note, my 14 y.o. is at Worlds of Fun amusement park with her school and that got me to thinking. By fall, I might feel good enough to go, able to walk all of that and ride any rides I want too. LOL.

It was a pleasant thought. Happy Friday everyone.

  7. I had my survey in Mexico and had wondered about support/info meetings that were open to people not sleeved locally. I will try and contact malley's to see if they allow outsiders. =).

Let us know what you find out. To me it should not matter and if it does then there is an even greater need for us to just meet as a group.

  8. OMG--can so identify with the Peanut Butter thing--had what I refer to as a "near death experience" after adding Peanut Butter into a smoothie a couple of nights ago. I was so sick! It felt more like motion sickness than typical nausea. It will be a loooooooonnnnnngggg time before I try any pb again!

LOL and I used to love it. Beef of any kind gives me terrible heart burn even with the omeprazole so that is off my list as well for now. I tried roast and ground beef. Yuck. Tasted good, but man did I pay shortly after even though I eat slow and chew food to dust.

  9. I've had bad acid reflux since I've jumped from Pre to post. My DR said to crush the pills but i take him both ways whole and crushed. They reflux is driving me crazy! In the beginning I got it A LOT now I only get it a few times a day. It hits me the hardest in the morning and at work. I hope this **** passes soon cause I can't stand it. :(

I am on a double dose of omeprazole. 20 mg a.m. and 20 mg p.m. they found ulcers when I had my EGD so that is why I am on that dose. I am to take it for 6 months. I swallow mine, but I asked if I was healed enough to do so. I really feel it after I eat, when I wake up and at night. Certain foods make it worse.

  10. God... Anything chewable would be nice. Sleeved 4-18. Had one week of clear liquids' date=' not even Protein shakes, and am still on 4 week full liquids. To add to it, only down 17 pounds in the 3 weeks since surgery. But staying positive. When else would I have lost 17 pounds in 3 weeks and know for certain that will be the last time I see that number on the scale[/quote']

Do stay positive. That is really good. Congrats on that 17 pounds. Slow is actually better for your health. Keep up the good work and try gum to satisfy that urge to chew.

  11. Have anyone tried Pasta on the soft food stage?

Yes, I have. Twice now and it did not sit well either time. I tried it one week apart. I made white meat ground turkey last night with low sodium taco seasoning and melted a bit of cheese over it and a bit of mild salsa. It was really good. Got about 2.5 oz. down and sat well. Chewed it to mush. Had more for lunch today, along with Motts pear applesauce. All of that sat well. I tried the berry applesauce and the pear sat better. Beans... refried, blended, any way you look at it has just pushed me over the edge and made me sick with just one teaspoon. Same with Peanut Butter. Can't do it. Not even in a smoothy.

    Hope this helps.

  12. I was sleeved 4/16 and so far no regrets at all. I have to say that I am right there with many others. Why did I not do this sooner. On the other hand, I don't think my head was in the right place sooner. Too many fears, not ready to give up my old food lifestyle even though it was making me fat. Sure, I miss certain foods like salad, and some fruits, but I know in time, I will probably be able to eat them again - just in smaller portions and that is the goal. I have been lucky, so far, no major complications. I have one incision that is taking a long time to heal. It is right about where my bra band goes and when I walk, it rubs, so I have to keep a bandage on it. It is not infected (I keep Neosporin on it per Dr. instructions), but I can't go swimming until I am 6 weeks out and if it has not healed by then, I still will not be able to swim. I also won't lie, the first week was hard. Gas pains, incision pain, shoulder pain when you drink due to how small and swollen your sleeve is, but this all passes with healing. Every surgery is an affront to your physical body and it takes time to heal. Just keep it in mind and allow yourself time to heal.

Also remember, that each of us is an individual. We will all lose at a different rate, just as we all heal at a different rate and that is ok. While I could not be happier for every ones weight loss, I have stopped comparing mine to theirs. We are individuals. If you decide to have the surgery, let us know. We will be here to support you. Best of luck and let us know what you decide.

  13. Even though the pizza was delicious I used my WILL to negate the thought and in the process used my selflessness to allow my family the meal they so desired w/o having to walk on egg shells around me. This was definitely a win/win situation for me and it felt great...has anyone else had a similar predicament?

Yes. Saturday I went to a gathering and there were so many foods. I took fruit and a really good friend of mine made salmon. I ate the salmon. I just chewed it to mush and ate very slowly. It was very moist so by the time it went down, it was no different than if I had blended it in the magic bullet. I also ate some melon. Chewed it to death also. It tasted great and sat well in my sleeve. The extra fluids from the melon was a plus as well. Yes, I know the fruit has sugar in it, but at least it is natural sugar. I am one of the rare ones (I think) that does not want to be in a state of ketosis. I don't want to start burning muscle and my doctor does not want me in that state either.

Am I the only one who feels this way or whose doctor feels this way? I know my loss will be a bit slower, but I just don't see any health benefits to losing muscle. My mother did a high Protein diet way back when. She ended up burning muscle on her lower arms and she has never been able to get it back. Her arms are flat and not attractive at all because of this.

I would love to hear from others on this issue. Don't worry about offending me. I really am curious about what others think or are being told about this issue from their health care teams. Thanks much in advance and Jimmy, I am ok with whatever anyone else eats around me. I find I don't crave what they are eating. Most of the junk food stuff - Cookies, chips, popcorn (which someone made here at work in the microwave just yesterday - smelled wonderful, but I had no desire to eat it) just does not appeal to me. I miss fruit and veggies at this point. I was a big salad eater. That is what has gotten to me... no salads :(

  14. Step Away From the SCALE! I am 3 weeks out and I only touch a scale at the Dr.'s right now.

You are so right on this front. I am a scale addict!! I find myself checking my weight at least once a day. I have always been a scale addict... not that it has helped me at all in the weight department!! I was down to 302 yesterday and today 305. I had more salt yesterday, so I am sure this is what it is, but mentally, I need to start only weighing myself once a week. I am going to make myself a chart and pick a weigh-in day and have that be it. I am making myself crazy over this. It is silly and so counterproductive.

  15. How are all my fellow Kansas City area sleevers doing. I am a single mom and things have been a bit crazy for me. Doing pretty good but I know I lifted too much on Sunday when the tornado sirens went off. I hauled both cats to the basement at the same time. I was not thinking about their weight. One is a Maine Coon so he is a big cat.

I was and still am a bit sore and hope that I did not do any damage. You know when they say that a tornado is on the ground just down the street you run and think later!!!! Ah well, such is life.

I hope you all had a good weekend. Take care all.

  17. I'm 3 weeks out today' date=' and looked down at my lowest lap site to see..... 1 cm of white suture sticking out, in a loop. WTF? Odd that it should decide to make an appearance now. Now wonder why that site's been so itchy![/quote']

I also have that with my lower left. Funny thing is, my upper right one opened up a bit as the glue wore away and I don't see any there. LOL

  18. hmmmm, haven't had cardiologist appt, my surgery is in two weeks. I do have a pre-op appt at the hospital next Monday, is that when they might do cardiology tests?

At your pre-op they will run an EKG and see what it shows. If it is abnormal, they will probably send you to the cardiologist to see what is doing with it. It might mean more appointments, but better that then not making it off the table during surgery, that is for sure. Best of luck with your pre-op. I hope it all goes well.
