  1. I've lost 175 pounds over the last year.

I lost 100 in the first 6 months' date=' which resulted in dropping about 6 sizes.

It feels amazing, I'm not sure I can even put in words. I never thought I'd feel this good.[/quote']

U r my hero! Congrats on all of your hard work and may your journey continue on a positive beat!

  2. There is a woman on a thread in Introductions saying that she was approved at 30 bmi. Maybe try another surgeon?

I was a BMI of 30 but self pay maybe that was the difference. Sorry to hear your frustrating news..keep searching you will find a doc willing to work with you.

  3. I think I'm finally at restriction! Yay! However clearly I'm a food addict and I'm obsessing about stuff I can get down but shouldn't (ice cream/crackers etc). How did you successful people get over this or get in control of this? Self help book? Therapy? I'm ready to try anything. I'm on this journey till I win the battle :)

    Thanks!!

I struggle with the same thing I have found ways of getting my sugar fix. We at all a work in progress.

  4. If I were in your shoes' date=' I'd go back to liquids for 24 hours and see if that doesn't fix the problem. Overeating can stretch the pouch and really irritate the band, causing the stomach to swell. A 24 hour liquid diet can more often than not take care of the problem by giving the stomach time to recover.

If you still have the pain even after 24 hours of liquids, then I'd call your doc.

    Best wishes.[/quote']

Thx Mis 73... I I'll stick to liquids for a couple more days or at least until the pain goes away. Ug I wish my brain would listen to my body so not worth the pain

  5. Hey guys! Just thought I would share my 5 month before an after pics with everybody. I got surgery 2/28/12 weighing 235 and I weighed myself this morning at 192.5! So I treated myself to shopping and tried on not a 2X or even 1X a frigen XL bathing suit.. Are you kidding me?? I hope this helps someone who's considering getting this surgery because it was the best decision I ever made (tough and frustrating at times yet still the best) I have a whiiiles to go till I'm at goal 130lbs but this is the movitation I need. I feel good' date=' i actually sleep since my sleep apea is GONE :) and whenever I need support come right to this website. Love my band!

    Xoxo

    Awesome

  6. Ate to much on Friday, pushed myself instead of listening to my body. I have pain under my ribs, a lump in my throat and no energy. I feel like I did one week after surgery. Of course I have nobody to blame but myself, but wondering if this is normal 48 hours later. I have had very little to eat this weekend, a Protein Shake and some tofu, mainly because I'm not hungry and it hurts to eat. Should I call my Dr. Tomorrow or is this just normal punishment for my bad behavior?

  7. Thanks ladies! Yea' date=' i don't know what I was thinking! After all I went thru with the one month of liquids and how it detoxed me from the carbs, I went and ate this dumb thing. M pretty disappointes in myself. I am swearing it off because it sucks to feel crappy like this. :-/

I sipped on warm tea this morning and it felt a little better. I'm having a shake now in small sips, and will continue with liquids all day.

Thanks again...guess I had to learn the hard way :(

Don't beat yourself up u r human! And we r all on this journey together

  8. I have the Realize band as well. My first fill was also 5cc. I have had two more additional fills since at 1cc a piece for a total of 7cc. I am due for another fill appointment on Monday and haven't decided if I want more. I feel I am in the zone and I usually stay satisfied for about 3.5 to 4 hours. My cravings and head hunger are gone and my appetite has diminished greatly.

I may ask for .5 cc not sure. I see the Nutritionist this Friday so I will get her opinion on things.

Jim how long have you been banded? Head hunger is a huge struggle for me. Thanks for your feedback

  9. Ok thank you for the input ladies. I do have some Protein powder but rarely use it... Guess I'll start by putting a little in my breakfast. I never overdo it with my portions especially with my Protein snack' date=' but I don't wanna get in the habit of eating mindlessly, so I gotta get myself in check. I am also going to discuss this with the doctor at my next fill. I guess I'd rather be under my protein goal than eating when I'm not hungry..[/quote']

Girl u look amazing! I believe we are about the same amount of time post

  10. I got my band 5/31/2006' date=' I have never had problems with it very seldom something would get stuck because I wasn't paying attention to something I was eating or I ate too large of a piece of food.. My question to other bandsters is how many people that have had to have theirs removed? I started having problems about 1 1/2 months ago. It started with a tightness in my chest and food started getting stuck a lot and there was some vomiting happening as soon as I ate. I went to my surgeon and he took out 2 cc's of a 4 cc band. In 2 weeks I went back on July 3rd for an endoscopy, as soon as he did it I had to have emergency surgery. Dr. Fegelman said I had a very badly eroded band. He told me that he had attended seminar recently and they were saying as much as 80% of bandsters have been getting erosion. Mine was eroded in my stomach and my insurance did not cover the first surgery, so I doubt it will cover this surgery. Is there anyone out there that has had a eroded band? I have never had such pain,my surgeon said it is some from the gas but mostly from the erosion in my stomach. The worst part is at night because you cannot get comfortable to sleep. I have been off work for almost 1 week now and it doesn't look like I will be going back soon. I would appreciate any feedback. Oh and by the way I lost 64 pounds with my band.

    Thanks,

    Kim[/quote']

I'm sorry to hear this news. My Dr is having a bandsters conference in Sept for his patients because of all the new info and changes he learned of at a recent conference. I wonder if this is one of the urgent issues. Im a newbie to bandsters life but always wonder what long term side effects of this is. I just know in my heart something this good is to good to be forever. Hope you are feeling strong and healthy and continue to reach your health goals.

  11. Having never carried an awful lot of my weight on my stomach mine was visible from very early on. I started at a bmi of 36. By the time Id hit 30 it was a very obvious lump and at 20 it looked like a walnut under my skin. I had it moved and as there is no low profile port for my seven year old band' date=' the doc yook the bavk of it to lower its profile.

Now its right by my bellybutton in that natural pad of fat instead of in the hollow below my ribs. Its still visible as a slight mound that just throws my bellybutton a little off centre but it waaaay better than the big knobbly lump it was, i could even see and feel tubing.

You will probably see and feel it permanently to some degree, you cant have something tht size and shape on your abdomen just under the skin if you are of normal weight and not see/ feel it! But placement and profile make a difference.[/quote']

Yes me too I started with a low BMi and it protrudes out of my belly an has since day one. In fact my Doc mentioned having to replace my port with a smaller one. I'm use to it now but need to be careful sitting at my work desk because if I lean the wrong way and hit my port I see stars!

  12. Actually the rants and raves section is a totally off topic section of the website. A lot of us have grown to know and like each other since joining LBT and we like to discuss things other than the Lap Band. In the rants and raves section nothing is sacrosant. You can feel free to discuss politics' date=' religion , in fact anything that you wish to rant or rave about.

Whilst we might all aspire to be perfect , most of us are not. Political correctness is not normal human behaviour, it is something that has been thrust on us. None of us would condone anything that was hateful or racist etc but if we wish to pick on a thing that annoys us that is fine. We are picking on the thing, not on a person. Most of us know that feeling this way about certain things is silly or irrational but we cannot help the way we feel.

So if these threads offend your sensibilities then the best thing to do is stay out of this area, and be very careful too if you wander into the powder room gone wild section. You could of course always start your own rant & rave .

    Maybe

I hate people that pick on silly spelling mistakes? :)[/quote']

    I heart you! Lol

  13. I realized that for many years I didn't Love Myself. Loving others and food was more easier then loving me!! I hated the way I looked and allowed many to just come into my life and treat me so bad. As a way of medicating myself I turned to food! It was easier then facing the truth!! I away's wondered why God kept me repeating the same cycle in my life as if I were in a summer school class. Then I got it clear as day. I had to repeat those classes (Life) because I had not learned from my mistakes. If you don't love You then no one else will!! I love myself more and more each day and will never allow food' date=' men. harsh people take advantage of me ever again!! I learned from my mistakes and I am going all the way to being a much better me!!! NO MORE SUMMER SCHOOL!!![/quote']

Thank you for sharing very powerful and I can soooooo relate
