I've never used those, but I would recommend eating one within thirty minutes of your run and then the other somewhere in between the middle of of eating the initial one and the end of the run. let us know how things go!

    Local Y, or Curves?

My vote would be for the Y. Maybe the hubs would like to join or maybe will eventually. I would try to do something where everyone would benefit. Working out can be a lot of fun when doing it together. More variety would be another reason to go with the y. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  3. Don't give up! Losing the last 97 is possible. U know that u r giving into temptation and r going back to old ways. Get back to the basics- it's what got u to 124 pounds gone. U CAN do this. U have a great tool. Put it to good use! I wish u the best. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  4. Thanks for the link! It was a good interview. I'm glad that they gave u a forum to not only talk about having a vsg, but I liked that u also discussed having it in TJ. I'm in awe. I know I've said it before, but u truly r an inspiration. The weight loss and physical achievements speak for themselves, but the fact that u r a positive voice that can speak to others about ur experience is admirable. Way to go on impacting the lives of others. Sent from my iPhone using VST

  8. I couldn't be happier! I reached my surgeon's goal and my first personal goal awhile ago. My weight fluctuates by one to three pounds every now and then. I think I would like to lose ten more pounds, but I'm not going to "diet" to get them off. I'm just going to keep doing what I have been doing and see what happens. I'm fine if I stay where I'm at. I hope everyone else is doing well!

I can give info about the runs at Disneyland! SO much fun!! However, I think that we were running in the park for maybe four (if that) miles out of of the 13.1. This was a lot of fun because there were characters out for taking pix (I did a run by with Capt. Jack Sparrow- lol). Lots of cheering! My favorite was the maintenance crew. They were all outside of their area and they had a banner up- it was cute. The rest of the mileage was completed around DL in Anaheim. Local high school bands/cheerleaders were spaced out throughout the course and there were lots of spectators. The highlights for me was the beginning (fireworks with a beautiful national anthem) and the ending (nothing beats getting your very first foil blanket and a big shiny gold medal that they place around your neck)! Overall a great time. I highly recommend it!

http://www.rundisney.com/coast-to-coast-race-challenge/ Coast to coast is more like a tiny running series. For Disney it's only two races. In order to earn the coast to coast medal, one has to finish a race at Disneyland and Disneyworld.

    Couch to 5k

Repeating weeks is a great strategy to help you finish the program! However, why are you doing c25k if you hate running/walking? Feeling great afterwards is wonderful, but sometimes it might be hard to get started if you really dislike it. I would recommend that you pick and stick with an exercise that you enjoy. This will help you stick with it. You get a great calorie burn with zumba and taebo as well. I love zumba and for some reason I always am sore after zumba. Lol! Keep running too if that's what you choose to do.

    Height, Weight, And Size Poll

I'm 34 and am 9 months postop. My current weight is 131. I used to weigh 235. I'm 5'3. I wear a size 4 pant and size small top (unless it's Nike or some tech shirt- I'm always a very fitting medium lol ). Sent from my iPhone using VST

You are going to have a BLAST! Boy, Disney knows how to put on a half! I had so much fun doing the tinkerbell. It would be nice to be wealthy, so that I could do the awesome races at disneyworld, well that and a whole lot more. im pretty sure that I'll be doing the tinkerbell again. U gonna do coast to coast? The evolution of profile pictures

Hmmm. This is an interesting topic. My pic is always a pic of me in my most recent adventure. I love being able to "do" things. I want it to represent me at my current state. I want it to reflect my state of being. I change it often and I enjoy doing so. maybe that's just me though- I am always changing. Hmmm. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    NO MORE SNORING!

Yay cpap breakups! Congrats on the absence of snoring. I was supposed to use a cpap. I could never get used to it, so it collected dust by my bed. I no longer snore after the weight loss, but I still will wake up tired or with headaches. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    No Caffiene!?

I used to be a HUGE soda drinker (HA! Literally I was huge, I crack myself up) Anyhow, I quite caffeine 12.26.11 and I am fine. I am still brilliant (depends on who is judging) and I can function in the morning. I don't trust myself to go back to soda. I will not take one sip! My husband thinks that this is a bit extreme, but I love where I am now. I love how I feel and look. Soda is one of those items that I think I will keep locked up in Pandora's box. With that being said, I have heard of people drinking coffee and diet soda after the sleeve. Am I personally recommending it?! No. I agree with the above poster that said that caffeine is hard on the tummy. I think my surgeon said that it can increase the possibility of ulcers. Best of luck with weaning off the caffeine. You can do it!

I'm still giggling about the olympic gold, you crack me up. As for diet, I have put carbs back into my food. I eat oatmeal fairly consistently and will often have half a sandwich on the days before a run. I use fruit in my smoothies. For me, it is a slippery slope- I would love to justify eating funyuns as carbing up for tomorrow's run! Lol. In all seriousness, it's tricky for me. I find that I feel the best when my carbs are at 150 or so. If they are not I have problems with coordination (I look like I barely have control of my arms and legs or I kick my ankle), or it feels like there's nothing left to push me, or I feel light headed. I find that carbs are a necessity for me. I went back and re-read the thread. I still haven't tried the gels, but need to. I did try some energy chews that have caffeine in them and they made me sick! I am not a coffee/tea/soda drinker. Basically I'm almost caffeine free. I plan on trying some gels that are caffeine free. Tried the thorlos socks. Boy, they were extra cushiony! I did get a blister though under the pad of my foot, so I'm sticking to my cheapy target socks. And, last but not least...we talked about running back to back! I knew the topic was familiar and I did a search. Apparently, it was already discussed. Boy, we are an efficient group. Keep running everyone!

    Who's small?

Congrats on the weight loss. What a great feeling it is when snuggling with hubs/boyfriend and feeling so close. I love this too. Yeah, self perception is a tricky thing and I think that most people struggle with trying to see ourselves as others see us (small or tiny for example). It has taken me awhile to adjust to my reflection, but like other things it gets more "normal" feeling as time passes by. In the mean time, enjoy all of the little nsvs that occur and keep on plugging towards goal. You will be there before you know it.

    Bread...?

Hi! I would try to stay away from bread if you can. I don't know when your surgery dates was, but if it's within the last six months or less I would stick to protein first and if there's any room have some veggies or fruit. Maximize your first six months. However, if you are going to take the plunge I would start really slow like 1 bite or so. For the longest I couldn't tolerate tortilla in the tiniest portions and bread was only okay if it was toasted. Good luck!
