Awesome post!!!! I remember experiencing that type of pure joy and accomplishment after doing something that I was unable to do before. That feeling has not gone completely away- I experience that type of high/rush when I do something new or extremely physical. It is one of the best feelings ever. I'm so happy that u had that neat experience. start keeping a tally because there's more of that to come!! Yay living and enjoying life.

Congrats to you!! 2 miles is a huge accomplishment. Way to stick it out when it's the HARDEST. I find its way easier to do. Is it because I'm in better shape? Is it because I weigh a lot less? Probably both. you will be amazed at how easy it gets. Keep at it IF you truly enjoy it as exercise.

Hi Fiddle. Have you considered the possibility that you're overtraining? Just a thought... I'm sorry that you're having difficulty getting some quality sleep in.

Hi! I was sleeved in 3.12 at 235 and I'm at 123. I don't want to lose any more weight and I've started playing a little with my cals to maintain and not lose. I was sleeved thru Kaiser and followed their rules pretty strictly until month 8 or so (can't remember exactly). I currently eat 1500-1800 cals and run like crazy. I log around 40 miles a week. It wasn't that difficult to reach goal- I stalled a couple times because I wasn't consuming enough calories to fuel long runs. I run 5 days a week, cross train one day, and take a day off for rest. I think my success is due to exercise. I took a week off two weeks ago and gained 4 pounds. I picked up my exercise and logging consistently and lost that plus a little extra in one week. But remember, everyone is different. for me it was following the prescribed eating plan mixed with trial and error plus lots of exercise. Good luck!

Great posts, Richard and BunnyK. I struggle with this way more than I'd like to admit. My husband tries and is for the most part my voice of reason. I feel fat quite a bit. I've been trying some new fitness classes/workouts and I feel like I did when I was post op- huge and out of place. It's weird, I know that I'm not fat. I'm at a healthy bmi and I'm thinner than what I weighed in high school, but oddly I feel fat. It's a total mind thing. You're not alone. -
Hello and Happy Fathers Day to those of u that r papas! I returned from an action packed 4 day stay at the local reservoir! My son and I participated in the Recon Run- a 5k obstacle course. The events were okay- I expected more challenging obstacles, but we had a blast nevertheless. There were two huge walls- one with a drop, some barbed wire, a mud pit, some mid sized walls to hop over, and a swim. Swimming in tennis shoes is TOUGH! We had lots of fun. We also kayaked and kayaked and kayaked some more. Lol! Best part was watching the sunset while out on the lake in relatively calm waters. I'm loving being fit. Camping is so much more fun! Love it! Here's a pic of my youngest and I after the run.

if long distance running keeps you from losing weight, why are marathoners so skinny?
danyelleb replied to Globetrotter's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Yeah, you're on to something. I was reading about Shalane Flannagan and Kara Goucher- daily intense training. But, I can also tell you about my experience because I think we are the same height. I was 235 and dos was 212. I started "running" at the beginning of May. I completed the couch to 10k program and then kept adding miles to my long run until I hit 20 miles for my long run alone. I consistently ran three times a week. On Tuesday and Thursday I would run 5-7 miles. Saturday would be my long run. Sure I would do some random exercise in occasionally as well- kayaking, bike riding, pole dancing, swimming, etc. the weight consistently melted off of me. I hit goal and my bones (clavicle, hip, spine, etc) are visible. I think I'm going to comfortable stay between 128-130. When I eat clean I drop more weight- I was down to 125. I don't think that I was holding on to fat at all. No HIIT or weight training (I know that this is not good) for me. I always would start a weight regime, but it's the first thing to go if I'm stretched for time. I really need it! Anyhow, I think I'm in shape. I could def tone the arms and butt. My point is- I think everyone is different and goals for body type are different. Long distance cardio definitely worked for me. Good luck GT. I hope u find something that works. I would stick with at least 50 minutes of cardio tho IMO. -

Aaahh!!! How r u?! I've missed seeing u around on the boards. I remember PMing u and PdXman. I'm very thankful that u both took the time to respond and didn't treat me like an askhole. I appreciate that! As for answering PMs, I take the time and do it. I hope to be as helpful as others were to me.

Okay peeps- last week SUCKED. It was the last week of school and I ate tons of junk. Im a stress eater. It also seemed like I was always eating. As a result of running around crazy, I didn't have the time to workout. I was working long hours and chose sleep over exercise. SO- this week I'm dusting myself and chasing after the wagon. I'm going to catch it and GET ON and strap myself in. Lol! I'm up 6 pounds. This boggles my mind! No exercise and eating about 1800 cals a day. eek! It has to be the lack of nutritional content in the foods I was eating- pizza, cake, Taco Bell. Aack! Oh well, here it goes again. I can do this! -
This is my most recent list. Hope u find something u like. Btw- love the new profile pic.

Anyone worried about being "too skinny"?
danyelleb replied to alyshac's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks! I'm 5'3 and I was 235 at my first doc visit. I was 212 on date of surgery. I was wearing size 18/20 pants and xl/xxl tops. It depended on fit and how uncomfortable I was willing to be in my clothes. I look back on pics and don't really recognize myself. It's the weirdest. I'm not sure how low my weight will go, but I was joking with my dh that I only have 7.5 pounds to go until I'm literally half the size I used to be. I'm sort of tempted, but it's not a hill I plan dying on. I hit goal awhile ago and everything since then has been bonus IMO. I'm currently at 125. Btw- I used to get a lot of ull never be that small, ur big boned, sturdy, etc. I used to believe it and then when I was a size six I almost died in the fitting room. Big boned, my saggy ass! Lol! -

Yikes! Hip pain can be the worst. If pain persists, please consider checking in with a doc. Also, taking time off (although I absolutely loathe doing this myself) is a good idea as well. I hope it works itself out soon. As for weighing I try to limit myself otherwise I can get a little OCD. This week was horrible. I hopped on the scale daily! Eek. I need to go back to twice a week. I'm a little envious if those who have the self control of not weighing all the time. Ur determination and perseverance is admirable!! (What I really wanted to say was, "yay u!!") I'm working on expanding my vocab. Lol! Have a great Sunday. -
Yay! I did a color run in Sacramento, Ca and had a blast too! Ur right about all types of people participating. This is a perfect first 5k event for people just starting out. It was the first race I registered for. I ended up doing two 5ks before it though. Lol! Color Runs are great! I'm glad u had a fun time!!
