What can I expect the first few day and few weeks? How about pain?
danyelleb replied to kimmy42083's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a relatively easy recovery and did not have to go back to the doc/er for complications or dehydration. I was sore after surgery, but was up and walking that eve. Went home the next day and did more walking. I slept in a recliner for a couple of days because it hurt to lie down in bed. Just remember to keep sipping and walking. I also recommend taking the prescribed pain medication. I was able to walk and stay awake if I took my pain meds. Can't drink fluids when you are sleeping. Lol! Good luck with your surgery. -
Just had a pre-op ooops. Ugh.
danyelleb replied to Im done mooing.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, let it go! Do not use that as a way to screw up the entire day <- I used to do this. It's easy to get in the mindset of, "It doesn't matter what my day of eating looks like because I already screwed it all up with 800 cals on cookies. What's the point, I'll start fresh tomorrow. Yada, yada, yada. Don't do it! You are doing great- 84 pounds is remarkable. Don't stress! -
TUMMY TUCK TOMORROW MORNING
danyelleb replied to frumpynomore's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Wow! You look amazing as well! That's a lot of work done and you are already planning more?! I guess that's testimony to how quickly you are healing and how satisfied you are with how things are going. You and frumpynomore are definitely inspiring. Thank you, too, for sharing. I hope that you continue to heal quickly and fully recover from surgery. -
TUMMY TUCK TOMORROW MORNING

Wow, frumpynomore! Congrats! Even without the crease down the middle gone (I know it will leave eventually), you can see quite a remarkable difference. Geez, you are going to rock the bikini season. Thanks again for posting! I hope that you will be able to stand all the way up in the very near future. -
Holy Goodness, BTB! I'm usually on my phone, so I don't see the tickers. 172 pounds is AMAZING! You will be at goal in no time. Wow, that's super impressive. I think it's funny that most of us seem to experience very similar feelings. Believe me, I have had those short runs where I refused to start walking in the middle of my run. My legs felt like bricks, my body felt like it weighed a ton, I felt like I had nothing in the tank to keep pushing me, etc... I just kept pushing and at the end of these short runs I felt so accomplished. Moral victory indeed. I think back to that documentary - Running the Sahara. They guy said something like, "Running is 90 percent mental...and the other 10 percent is mental." Lol! It's so true. As for the intimidation, I'm experiencing that myself. I was so confident, but I have had a rough couple of weeks in regards to getting in my three runs a week. It's been awhile since I've logged anything over 15 and I have a marathon quickly approaching in March. Like you, I try to reflect on accomplishments like running a 5K. I just did the Tinkerbell Half last Sunday. As I was running, I thought about all of the accomplishments that I achieved. My husband actually tried to talk me out of registering back in June because I couldn't even run 2 miles. Heck, he reminded me that in April I couldn't even run a 1/4 mile. He was afraid and actually told me that he didn't think I could do it. It sounds horrible, but he meant well and he was concerned that I was going to hurt myself. This conversation flooded back to me as I was running that race - talk about emotional. I did do it! I CAN do this marathon too! Every once in awhile though I need to remind myself that I am capable. You are too! You can do it! Look at what you have done already!

That's awesome! I wish that I could choose when the high hit. I love how I feel afterwards. I wish I felt that throughout the entire run. was it a trail run?? If so, ur gonna find that running on flat surfaces is easy peasy. Sent from my iPhone using VST

While school is in session I like to exercise at 5. This gives me an hour and a half, plus I have enough time to still get ready for work. I have to work out in the morning. I don't have the time to do it in the afternoon and by then I'm exhausted. While on vacation I like 830 am. I get to sleep in but still exercise in the morning. It's a great way to start the day! TUMMY TUCK TOMORROW MORNING

Walking is a great start! It's free and u can do it anywhere! Zumba is lots of fun too! Don't worry about what other people think. Believe me I laugh at myself quite a bit when zumbaing. That's part of the fun. Find the fun in exercise in whatever u choose to do. It increases the odds that u will do it again. good luck! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Lilmissdiva has a back to basics bootcamp. Sometimes people refer to this as a reset plan. I copied the below from her original post. U can find the entire thread if u search "back to basics". Good luck. The BASICS BOOTCAMP: For 5 STRICT DAYS I will eat only... Proteins: Seafoods, Poultry and eggs, Dairies, nuts/seeds including Peanut Butter. Veggies: Green only. Fruits: None. Breads/Cereals/Other Carbs: None. Fluids: One gallon of Water (128 oz.) Protein drinks (RTD or Powder). Avoid: Sugar and Sodium Once the 5 days are over, I am pretty much over the Sugar Carb Demon. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate carbs! I do need them to live a healthy life and since I workout a lot it is important I have them. However, I need GOOD carbs. Whole grains, fruits, veggies... But I don't need processed sugars. White carbs, in cereals, breads, rice... etc. Lots will do the 5 day pouch test. http://www.5daypouchtest.com/ Great! To each their own. I personally do not do this. My first reason is because I don't have a pouch. I have a sleeve. The second reason is because for me, this has proven nothing but torture for me. I don't feel like I should have to do that. My personal program works just as good without that side effect. The only reasons I've ever done liquids only is simply from being threatened with my life (post op) or if I'm just feeling sick and to let my Sleevie rest. That's it. Sent from my iPhone using VST

It's a running plan that helps u slowly and systematically build up to running 3.1 miles. It's wonderful. I would recommend that u download the app if u have a smart phone. If u don't have a smart phone there is also a podcast. I prefer the app because I can play music as well. There is also couch to 10k and 10k to half marathon through heavy duty apps. Embrace the baggy! In all seriousness tho, I did that and took hand me downs from my friends. I bought a few dresses because I hate baggy butt. I know it's cold right now, but I wear leggings and boots. Now a days I'd rather spend my money on race registration or new running apparel. I still wear baggy clothes. Currently, I own ONE pair of jeans that actually fit. Sent from my iPhone using VST

I wish that could forget to eat! What a gift to those who do this. I'm starving most of the time. I will resist the temptation of eating for u. Lol Sent from my iPhone using VST

Exercise after VSG!
danyelleb replied to christy38's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would like to say its a MUST, but there are sleevers out there who don't. I enjoy doing it and I find myself pushing myself because I am capable of so much. It's so much easier because I don't weigh as much. In short, I highly recommend it! Sent from my iPhone using VST
