Experiences After Immediately Waking Up? Comment Please..
I just had my surgery on the 22nd. I had hardly any pain in the hospital. No nausea. I was on a morphine pump so pain wasn't an issue, thank God! Now I'm home and 2 days after surgery I can say I'm not having nearly as many issues as I expected. The gas is annoying and uncomfortable, but that's only temporary and not too big of a deal. My biggest problem is not knowing whether I can drink or not. I don't feel hungry and I don't feel full. So I'm just confused. I need to get more water and protein in but I'm not sure how much I can drink at a time. Long story short---don't worry too much!! It's not nearly as scary as it seems, and it'll all be worth it!

Had Surgery Yesterday
And I'm trying to figure out how this air is supposed to come out of me?? It's so uncomfortable! I've walked and walked and that hasn't helped. Also, I can't tell when I'm hungry or full. How do I know how much I can drink if I can't feel any of that?

what kind of insurance do you have? I have bcbs and had to do the 6 month diet. My first visit was fairly simple. I saw the doctotr, nutritionist, physical therapist, and psychologist. It was a long day of appointments but it was great to get all of the info I needed. First I saw the doctor and he explained the surgery and talked to me about the benefits of it. Then the nutritionist explained what the sizes of food would be after surgery and explained the pre op diet. then I saw the physical therapist who showed me some exercises to firm things up so that after surgery I would have less trouble with loose skin. And then the psychologist talked to me about food addiction and also about having a support system through this. If you have any other questions let me know Good luck at your visit!!

woo hooooo! This just got me pumped lol!! my out of office message goes up tomorrow!!! yay go us!!! :)- March 2012 Vsg
I know exactly how you feel!! Mine is this thursday and it still is hard to realize that this is really happening! But then some moments it hits me how close it is and I'mjust like..wow what am I doing!? we will get through this! and we will be better for it!- Pregnancy After Surgery
Hey all! I'm 24 and married and me and my husband are ready to start trying for kids. When I decided to do the surgery I went back and forth on whether I wanted to try and get pregnant first or have surgery first. I decided for surgery because my weight could harm me and a baby during pregnancy. That being said---How long do I need to wait after surgery to get pregnant? I know at the very least 6 months, but after that is it fair game? Also, does the sleeve cause any additional problems when it comes to getting enough food and nutrition for your baby?- Pre Op Diet Tips
Okay I have had so much trouble with my pre-op diet so I thought maybe all of us putting together some ideas and tips to make it more manageable would be nice for all of those just starting it! For me, what I finally figured out is that chewing ice helped tons! I'm not a Water drinker at all so having to switch from my very loved diet cokes to water has been a huge challenge, but I've found that in between drinking water I'll chew ice and that for some reason helps me out! Also, I've made crystal light and put it in an ice tray and chewed that so it feels like I'm having a treat instead of just drinking boring water! Another thing I have done is using minty chapstick any time I feel like I am getting hungry. I don't want to eat if my mouth feels minty so that has worked well for me! any other tips to share?- Nausea And Pooping
Just want to ditch the whole lady like thing for a minute to ask a few questions that I really am freaking out about! first of all---how bad and how long is the nausea after surgery? I think of all pains in the world this would have to be my very least favorite. I can handle a lot of things like a champ, but nausea isn't one of them. I've read a lot of people had bad nausea when the pain medicine gave them a bad reaction and stuff like that, but just in general...pain medicine was fine, anestesia was good...how nauseous were you? okay, and the sweetest topic ever...poop. What is it like after surgery? Do you have to go more often or less often? I mean, my thought is that you are eating much less so it would seem you'd go a lot less, but then I've read tons of people talking about diarhea. SO...what's that all about? I am going back to work 10 days after surgery and am just super nervous about how these things will effect me then. <3- 9 Days Post Op - Sleeved In Mexico - Dr. Ponce - Long Story
I loled many a time reading this! great story girl!- I Want To Understand!
I've kept mine very private. Only close family and really close friends know about it. My co workers have no idea...which has been difficult!! They know I'm having surgery but that's it. For me, I think I main reason for keeping it as secretive as possible is because EVERYONE seems to have an opionion on it. I can't hear anymore opinions because at this point my minbd is more than made up and every negative opinion is just aggrevating or insulting. Also, I think being fat is something we all want to hide but we can't. At least for me it is. It is something I am terribly ashamed of and always have been. So when it comes to this surgery, talking about it is basically talking about me being fat and that is something I try and avoid. Hope this helps you to kind of understand it...I am proud of myself for making this decision that I know will save my life, but it's just a very personal thing. - Just Put My Out Of Office Message On!
