    Family S***s!

Take a deep breath, and realize that you are a grown woman and can make your own decisions. People who don't live in our shoes always think that we are taking the easy way out, but we aren't. WLS is alot of hard work. Please don't kick your parents out of your life, just tell them your mind is made up and you do not want to discuss this matter with them anymore. This is the beginning of the rest of your life, so be happy on this new journey. You have all of us up here for moral support. HUGS
  3. I do not want to use up my vacation time, so I am really thinking about going on STD for two weeks. Have any of you took this route after surgery and if so, how did it work out for you.
  4. Thank you so much for the advise, and good luck with everything.
  5. Keep up the good work, you should be proud of yourself because we are proud of you.

What I Won't Miss About Being Fat...

    Killing Herself

One of my best friends had the gastric sleeve surgery last Feb. She has lost about 130 lbs, and now weighs in at 165lbs. Personally I wish she was still a big girl, the reason why is because she was healthier when she was fat. She had surgery for all the wrong reasons and didn't do anything the doctor told her to from day one. Since she had her surgery, I believe she has been to the doctor only 2X.......................seriously are you freakin' kidding me? She doesn't follow any of the rules, that you suppose follow after WLS and the only thing she eats is a sh*tload of candy and junk food. Oh and salads. She might nibble on a piece of fish here or there ands when she tries to eat real food which is probably once or twice aweek, you guessed it, she throw up immediately. I am so worried about her and keep telling her that she needs to go to the doctor or go talk to a therapist or something...............................................her answer is, I AM SKINNY SO I AM HEALTHY!!!!! No you aren't healthy when you look sick and fragile. The kicker is she still think she is fat and want to lose 25 more lbs. Now that I have started my journey I can not worry about her. I don't mean to sound uncaring but she is older than me and she knows better, am I being selfish feeling this way? I have been trying to get her to go check on herself since last year and obviously you can led a horse to water but can't get it to drink. She is happy about me getting surgery and was like oh we are going to be throwing up together when you can't eat, and I was like sorry but no we arent because I am going to follow what my surgeon and nutrtionalist tells me from A-Z. A part of me feels bad that now I feel like whatever will be will be with her. The other part is telling me that I have done all that I can do and have to concentrate on me and what I have to do for my surgery when it comes up. Thanks for listening guys.

    Questions For Post-Op Sleevers

Quick question, did everyone who had the sleeve so far had to have a catheter, and a drainage tube, and if so, for how long? I am just curious about this.

    Yay Pre Op Diet!

Was your pre-op diet 1 or 2 weeks? I am worried about that part of the process. It is one thing going on a diet because you want to, but harder when it is mandatory, even though the end results will be worth it. Congrats on your weight loss and your burst of energy.

    Questions For Post-Op Sleevers

I really hope I don't have to use either one. I had a drainage tube when I had my gallbladder removed and it didn't hurt but was uncomfortable.
  17. I have quite a few piercings, some you can see and some that are let's just say.............................I am very fond of them*lol* . Is it true that I have to take them ALL out for my surgery? I heard that I can put retainers, but don't know if that is true or not, please advise.

    Piercings............................................

Thank you ladies. If I have to take them out then so be it, and I have had them all for over 5 years, so they shouldn't close. Discordya you are right, I can have someone help me put them back in.
  19. I am a newbie to the site and I must say that I am excited to be here. I just decides to have WLS about two months ago, and now I am getting a little scared because things are going quicker than I anticipated. I just met with my surgeon for the first time on May 21st. On that day I had to go to the lab to take blood work, and my surgeon also set up my first appt with the nutrionalist and I also have my first support group meeting to go to on Tuesday the 5th of June. Now I just received a call from the hospital this morning to set up an appt to take my sonogram. I am so nervous because I was under the impression that everything takes 6-8 months to do and set up. What do you guys think, does it seems like things are moving fast for me? Thanks in advance for your responses.

    Here We Go!

Good luck on your journey and you will succeed. People always have something negative to say so please don't let what this a**holes say get you down. At the end of the day you are doing what you have to do to get healthy and even though I don't know you I am proud of you because this is a big step, so take a bow*HUGS*

    Scared Newbie On Board

Hey guys, thanks for all the responses, and positive words. I am 110% sure that this is what I want and even though I am a little nervous I am excited and can't wait. So after I finish all the tests and everything, I will take any date that they decide to give me. I wish everyone well on their journey also. It really feels good to finally take control of my health and do something just for me. God Bless you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Wait until you see your surgeon because they usually tell you what you can and can not have to shrink your liver. Good luck.
  23. As you guys know, I am just getting started on this weight loss journey. I have my doctor's appt the 13th of April and meet with the surgeon on the 27th. I know this is a big decision and for the most part I am so excited. But now people are telling me that I shouldn't have surgery because it is dangerous and blah blah blah. Not for nothing it is really pissing me off and I don't know what to do. Any advice?

    Lapband Or Gastric Bypass

April 27th is the first meeting I have with my surgeon to decide what surgery I want to do. I am so excited about it and really thought I wanted the lapband, now I am not too sure. I think I might want to do the gastric bypass. I know I have plenty of time to decide and want to know if this is normal to go back and forth about what surgery to get. Can you guys tell me if any of you went thru this, and what at the end made you decide to get the lapband?

    The Journey Begins

This is my first blog posted and I just joined this site today. Friday I went to my very first seminar and it was very informative. I can make my appt to see a surgeon and discuss the lapband with him/her on Tuesday. This is my problem, I do not have a primary doctor and need a referral for my first visit with the surgeon and without it I can not start my process. Now will a primary doctor give me a referral with my first visit or is that something I have to wait on? Also since my GYN is the first one who suggested the surgery for me will he be able to give me a referral just to get the ball rolling? I am going to get me a primary doctor because I know I have no choice and need one for clearance, I just want to get the ball rolling as quickly as possible. Any advice?
