help asap: I am so tired
Hi, Was a Bubble Butt.................that is some very interesting information on the whey products. I have learned a lot. We just talked tonight about different whey proteins, and those shots you mentioned were discussed. I had never heard of them before. The gal said she bought them at the "Vitamin Shoppe". I do think that is a chain store. She said they were good and full of protein, but did not mention anything else about them. She most likely does not know much about them, though. How did you learn all of that info? I would love to read some of the things you have been teaching us here...................Nice to "see" you again! Lee

Vomiting blood
Vomiting at night sure sounds bad. I would worry about aspiration, from that type of vomiting, especially if you end up choking on it. I sure hope you can find the help you need...................Lee

Rough second fill
Wow, I wonder why that happens? Does not seem to be an idea that I can come up with, unless needle sticks in general make you feel that way. That does happen with some folks. I ate breakfast, worked out at the gym, got my fill, then went out to lunch, today. All went well. I have been wondering, and have found out today, that my port is tilted, but the doc had no problem getting the needle in right away!

food to avoid after a fill
I found (when I had restriction) that anything that took way too much chewing, like steak, etc, I quickly became very disinterested in, and spit it out!

My Doc Refuses To Give Fill
But the band does not do all of the work, it is a tool to assist with self control. Even with the band, there is still self control involved. And without self control, well heck, that is how I became overweight to begin with!

My Doc Refuses To Give Fill
I agree with Jenna. I too had the same problem today. Had one fill in March, and with restiction, good diet and going to the gym, I was losing nicely. However, the past week I have been super hungry, eating more than I should, and now have no restriction. Can eat anything, bread and all. I called and asked for a fill, and was turned down, and was told to use good judgement, and that I know the things to eat and not to eat! I thought the band was to help as a tool with our self control???

Rough second fill
Apparently that does happen. Two people in my support group mentioned it happening to them. I am wondering if the band moving against the stomach is irritating for some?

eating confessions
My liquids were a little "thick" at times. I would add some of those mashed potatoes that you buy in the containers, and add them to soup or broth Of course, those potatoes are not good for you, but it did help with taste!

February 2007 bandsters!
Slow, slow, slow here too. Banded 2/14, have not lost that much weight, either. However, I do not feel too bad, I have been going to the gym 3 times a week, and that relieves some of the non weight loss guilt! Good luck to all of us slow losers!

Soft boiled egg
I found that anything with any consistency to it, (not chewed to a pulp) got stuck. Eggs were one of them. Soft is not the same as chewed to nothingness! I have learned along the way to chew, chew, chew!

Weight Gain
I started in the gym 1 week post op. Even if you only do cardio for now, that will burn calories.

I am confused over the protein drinks
I was told to start drining the protein drinks two weeks prior to my surgery. My doctor also told me that most individuals don't get enough protein during the day anyway, so anyone can drink them. Also, if working out, they are very important in lean muscle growth and development.

Steady losers ;-)
Oh Jill, How horrible! I am so glad that she had not been more critically hurt. I did not know that either, that the shift can disengage while turned off and move like that. Thanks for the warning, and good luck with your baby!

Realisations to share?
Lunasa, since I love to learn about different lands, would you be able to post some pictures sometime, somewhere, like maybe on the general discussion site on your country, things you see and enjoy, so we can learn about a different country?

From what I understand they are valid co-morbid factors.

Janine, What was a Bubble Butt is saying that it is technically not shock. Shock is a life threatening condition that occurs when the body is not getting enough blood flow. This can damage multiple organs. Shock requires immediate medical attention and can get worse very rapidly. Types of shock are: Cardiogenic: associated with heart problems Hypovolemic: caused by inadequate blood volume Anaphylatctic: caused by an allergic reaction Septic: associated with infections Neurogenic: caused by damage to the nervous system. It can also be caused by any condition that reduces the blood flow; such as: Heart problems, as in heart attack or heart failure Low Blood Volume; as with heavy bleeding or dehydration Changes in blood vessels; as with infection or allergic reaction In our society people tend to use the word shock very loosely. I have come across many car crash scenes to hear people shouting to hurry, that the pt. is in shock! When in reality, they may be dazed from a spuck to the head, or any other trauma, but shock is usually not the case.

gallbladder?
I had my gall bladder surgery in November 06. He did not want to do the two surgeries together, but some do. My gall bladder surgery went much better than the banding. No pain, no gas, was active from day one! He used different sites for each surgery.

February 2007 bandsters!
I had my first fill today!!! Weird, I could feel it going in. He stated that a lot of people can feel the first one. I got 1 cc. He told me I did not need a fill, and I stated that I am very hungry, and it takes a lot to become full, so maybe that is why he did it? Has anyone ever gotten more than one cc the first time? I had no problems eating soup right after the fill.........

Be Careful
I am glad you are doing much better, and getting stronger. A good thing that you were most likely healthy to begin with. If one good things comes out of this, at least you lost some weight! Good luck to you!

Stomach/Churning question....confused
That is a good question. I take small bites, and chew forever. Have found that some meat I chew, gets gross after awhile and I end up spitting it out. Gross, huh? Not sure where the full digestion starts, though.
-
Be Careful
WOW, What a horrible thing to have happened. I am glad you shared your story, and too am glad that you were in the hospital overnight when it happened. I hope you continue to get well, and you will have the oportunity to make the decision about WLS again.

Frustrated
I was switched to full liquids in 4 days..............

hospital or outpatient?
There has been a recent thread about this somewhere. If you do a search you should find it. Anyway, I was outpatient, and a lot of others were too. Some did stay overnight, though.
