    I Want

I had not thought about the wetsuit thing. That is one of the reasons I no longer scuba dive. My wetsuit would never fit me. Maybe someday it will, and I will be able to comfortably have all the gear on, and still be able to put my flippers on!

  5. This is me with my husband in August, on the dinner train in Fort Myers, at most likely my heaviest. The second picture is me on Christimas after losing some weight, presurgery. Also the outfit is hiding some weight!

    Pre-op jitters...

Most people are very apprehensive prior to surgery. I was told once that it is due to the fact that we are losing control of ourselves when we undergo anesthesia. Some are afraid they will never wake up. When in fact, that is the easiest sleep to be woken from, as they do have drugs to revesrse the effects of anesthesia if needed. Also, it is a very controlled environment, one in which all vital signs are monitored, and the ariway is kept very patent. Most people never die during an operation, the ones most likely to, are the ones with a pre-existing condition, such as a very bad heart, that can not take the stress of surgery.
  10. Good luck to you, that is a big step!

    Help me help myself

I recently read on one of these posts that shows the surgery, in fact this came from the surgeon, not in the same words, but something to the effect of, the band encourages us to stay with the program, and keep up the work. If unbanded, many pt's. quickly revert to their old ways.

    Does Anybody Lose Serious Weight?

The idea of the lap band is to lose the weight more slowly, and steadily. Bypass pt's lose the weight much faster, due to a malnutrition process.

    Questions

I was same day surgery, too. Surgery too about 1 hour. Was sent home on lliquid Lortab (Vicodin). Needed it until the following day. Then it helped with the rib and shoulder pain later. Doing great now, 3 weeks later. Good luck, keep us informed how things go..............
  20. I was hungry almost from day one! Really need that first fill!
  21. Mine was same day surgery. I believe I was home by about 3PM that same day.
  22. My port area was a little hard to get used to, also. Very aware of it, and it was hard to bend over, felt as though it wanted to pop out. That is much better now. It took almost 3 weeks for total discomfort to go away. What lasted for me, was the gas type pains in my shoulder and left rib area. They are finally now gone.
  23. I loved my Diet Coke, too. I had switched to Caffeine Free years ago, so I did not have the headaches. I do miss it, but I have been very good, and sticking with the Crystal Light. Diet Coke has been associated with osteoporosis, among other things, and I do want to watch out for that, also.
  24. Haven't totally decided what I might do yet. Still have a ways to go. However, the fitness center thing is new for me.
