I am having an extra day too but part of me is regretting it because I will be missing my hubby and daughter so much!

I heard if you just ask they will let them know you just had surgery they will let you board early and will give you a good seat if is available without charge. But it all varies with airlines and how good of a mood the people are that day lol. I am planning on trying it in any case, I might even ask for a wheelchair when I arrive just so they will take me in and that normally gives them the clue. I will be wearing compression stockings and plan to walk as much as possible in the plain, at least every hour. (my flight is 5 hours with one hour layover). I meet with some friends today who are from LA also, she had her surgery a couple of months ago and today she ate a little gumbo with rice and had no problems. I think it depends on how well you tolerate it. Keep in mind rice is very filling and has no proteins (unless enriched) so if. You eat too much you will not be able to eat meats or other protein full stuff. Good luck!

Holly, so other than the robe what else do you think is a must? I got my robe, sleepers, pj, loose dress, small warmer for broth, heating pad, gas x, iPad, chargers, phone, and other miscellaneous. Are the hospital gowns like the USA ones? Trish has been amazing and I am not even there yet, I am looking forward to meeting her, Dr. Ponce, Krista and her hubby. I cannot wait!

I made mine about a month ago, Krista about two weeks? For Dr. Ponce since he is also a teacher, sometimes he is presenting at conferences and such, and has a lot of patients but they normally work with you to give you the day that you want. He also does not do more than 4 (I believe,have to double check that) bariatric surgeries on one day.

Yay! I cannot wait! This last week has been feeling like a year!

Anyone can get a drain, it depends on the surgeon. Some see an added benefit on having a drain, some don't agree. It's more a surgeons preference.

May 10th with Dr. Ponce De Leon in Tijuana Mexico, I only have a 3 day diet because my BMI is 36. I am super excited and nervous! Good luck everyone in your surgeries!

I did not mean to lie, but just not tell if it made you think they would not give you the things you needed to get your money. Unfortunately there are many people who don't understand why we choose to go to other countries for our surgery. I am glad you got it all worked out. Good luck!

Do you have to tell them where the surgery is? The surgeon can fill out paperwork is needed without disclosing location!

I would tell your doctor you don't have the money for that, I don't think they can actually "require" you to buy that, if they do I would find another doctor too. Keep in mind protein supplements are expensive, but since you won't be eating much for a while it kind of balances out. I bought some of my shakes very cheap (unopened) in Craigslist of all places. Hang in there!

Hang in there! Just be persistent and let them know you are not going away,so the sooner they do their job the sooner you can get healthier! Call your doctor after hours if this nurse does not help you, normally most doctors answer "emergency" calls. Good luck!
