Thanks gals, I have been sleeved! Very nauseous but ok. I don't regret it one bit! Dr. Ponce and his team are amazing, not to mention Trish and all the nurses and staff!

Surgery Tomorrow W/ Dr. Ponce De Leon!

    Thanks a bunch!
  5. I talk a little it about that on one of my videos Melissa. It has to do with the mechanism of aspirin, versus low molecular weight heparin (or other blood thinners). I also posted links to some research if you want to look at it.
  6. I know Dr. Ponce does for both of your questions. I don't know about other Mexican surgeons.

    I Need Prayers

    Wonderful news! Congratulations!
  8. I am having mine with a wonderful surgeon in Mexico. All fees $6000 including airfare. He has a lot of experience and is in a fully equipped hospital. Mine is tomorrow! I cannot wait! Good luck!
  9. I need to study for my finals, still have to left but I cannot stop thinking about my upcoming surgery Thursday! I wish I could just stop thinking about it and concentrate in this last two finals! Then all of this stress is making me want to eat! I thankfully do not have a long liquid diet (only three days) but I have not been watching what I am eating very much today and it was supposed to be my first day. I guess since I am lower BMI and I am not eating things that greatly increase liver size I don't worry as much, but I should be following directions and I am not! Which makes me want to eat more. I really need to figure out what I am going to do about this emotional eating, soon! My surgery is in less than 3 days! Sorry for all the mumbling.

I Have To Cancel My Surgery. So Upset.

Well ladies I have had to remember so many abbreviations in the last two weeks HBsAG, HBeAG.......................... That my brain feels like is about to explode if I see another one LOL (and I have so many more still to memorize!).... Thanks for the translation LOL

Surgery W/ Dr. Ponce Excitement Vs Studying!

Thanks! My surgeon is actually in Mexico, Dr. Ponce De Leon, he actually taught Dr. Almanza (I see he is going to be your surgeon) how to do the sleeve and I believe he also did Dr. Almanzas sleeve. The twenty days will pass by really fast! I booked mine about 45 days ago and it all went very fast except for the last week!

    Motrin,advil

Definitely varies with surgeons... One thing most agree on is to stop taking Aspirin, motrin, advil and any NSAIDs two weeks before the surgery because they all act as blood thinners (well kind of). They are associated with Ulcers but some surgeons feel comfortable prescribing it. One thing that I have seen is often prescribed is acetaminophen/tylenol or medicines that contain that because the mechanism is different from NSAIDs. You should definitely ask your doctor because they will have a good history about your health and can give you their professional opinion.

I Have To Cancel My Surgery. So Upset.

I am sorry to hear that! that does suck. I am glad you are looking in the bright side of things. I am having my surgery May 10th with Dr. Ponce De Leon in Tijuana, he is also very good, and has been a surgeon for many many years. He is much cheaper than Dr. Aceves ($5500) so that might be a little more doable if at all. You are very close to 40, only a few pounds, drink a lot of water before going to the doctor LOL. I am sure everything will eventually workout. Good luck and keep the good attitude :-)

    I Need Prayers

I am very sorry to heat that Suzie! My prayers are with you and I hope everything works out well. Did you pay the deposit to the surgeon? if so they might be able to hold it until you have the money to actually do it, or given the circumstances they might refund you the money. Good luck, God bless and keep us posted.

    Any May Sleevers Here?

I am afraid of death too but like I told my family, its a lot more likely that I will die from a car accident or from obesity related issues than from the surgery. Its why I took so long and so much effort finding the right surgeon for me. My surgery is in less than three days and I am terrified at times and at other times I am sooooooooooooooo excitedddddddddddddddd! In a way I am glad I have finals at school because it leaves me less time to think about this. Like I told my aunt yesterday (who is thinking of having the surgery next) I know its not going to be easy and I know I am making a huge change in my body and my life, but everything in me tells me its for the best. Rai I wish I had time to wax my car! My daugther asked me yesterday what I wanted for mothers day (I will be gone for mothers day :-( since my surgery is in Mexico (on Mexican Mothers day!) and I don't return until Sunday. My answer was "I have more than I ever wanted, but it would be awesome if I find a my car clean when I get home!" LOL..... I should had mentioned I would love to have my house clean too but that might be pushing it LOL

    Flight Home After Surgery

I am booked with United, I just called them because I noticed in their website they have a number for persons with "disabilities". 1-800-228-2744 if anyone else is flying with them (you can do this even if you did not book directly with them, I booked my thru priceline.... I told them I was flying to have surgery and needed isle seats the closer to the restrooms the better (I am always afraid of having to throw up in a bag LOL) they gave me all isle seats and tried to get me as close to the restroom as possible. They also requested wheelchair assistance for me (I definitely won't need it on the way there but since I am going alone, it will be nice to have someone help me with the luggage, specially after surgery, I am afraid I will hurt after to carry it). I don't have to pay for any of this! I will make sure to get out of the seat often and walk around to prevent blood clots and will also be wearing compression stockings both ways.

    Any May Sleevers Here?

I feel the same way at times, you are not alone! I would be worried if you did not sometimes question it, its a life changing surgery. I talk about my fears in my last you tube video. Good luck, hangin there, you will know if its the right decision for you!
