    Self Pay Usa

one of my friends locally had her surgery here in the USA, had a leak and had to have it repaired. I think she was in the hospital on and off for over a month. also had to have IV antibiotics for a long time. She is doing better now but its been a very rough road for her! Then she got a bill for over $30,000 but it seems like the hospital and the doctors are going to write most of it off. I am just glad she is doing well now and on the road of weight loss!

    Self Pay Usa

usually even if they say it covers everything they do not cover complications, for example if God forbid you have a leak you end up having to pay for that and extra hospital days and such. I have a friend who is currently dealing with that, thankfully most will try to help you so you won't sue them
  3. sorry never heard of him
  4. They cannot make you stay in Mexico but they can certainly hold you up. For me it was safer to have the passport, but that is my personal opinion.
  5. Cool StrangelyNormal, I will check yours out. I had my passport, I heard people can come back with the driver license and birth certificate but I would not risk it. They can make you stay in Mexico or hold you up and lose your flight. I would get a passport or card if I was you.

    Sleeve Research

Thank you everyone for your willingness to participate!!! It will take us a few weeks to get the survey ready and the approval from our faculty. I will post it as soon as I have it! Any time postop works for us! We would actually love to have a good variety of lengths of time post op.

    Nicotine Blood Test?

For your safety is very very important that you really quit. blood clot risk is much buggering you smoke and your body will take longer to.heal. I am not sure what kind of test your surgeon does or what his policy is, but make sure you are completely honest with him, even if it means rescheduling your surgery. I have a video on youtube in which I talk about blood clots and embolisms, you might want to watch it. That was always my biggest fear and it still is now I am 2 weeks post op and I know it's still a possibility. The good news is that according to a lot of research the increased risk because of smoking ia decreased almost immediately after quiting. But please don't start again after surgery because your life could literally depends on it. Good luck!

    Scared!

I am two weeks post op and I would do it again, no hesitation. Yes complications are a real possibility, very unlikely but real. For me the pros far outweighed the cons and I had the surgery. I did all the research I could possibly do and had the best surgeon I could possibly find for myself, and continued doing research even to the morning of my surgery. When I went into that operation room I was 100% sure that this was what I wanted to do. It scared me to think I might have a complication and all of that but I know I had done my research well and had chose wisely. Good luck and hang in there. Do lots of research!

    How Long After To Drive?

I started driving about a week and a half post op. after surgery because of the lack of protein and food I felt a little weak and was afraid of driving, I did not feel safe to drive until then. Good luck!

    Frustrated Suggestions Please

I am so sorry to hear about your struggle. I live in fort worth and there are many bariatric surgeons here, but I am not sure how much going to one would cost you. You should definitely try it. There is Dr. smith here in fort worth he had surgery himself (bypass) but seems like a very kind guy. I had surgery in Mexico so I could not say how good or bad local surgeons are. I know that some doctors think is safer to wait because everytime they go in and do something they are adding to the scar tissue and aggrivieting the problem, so for caution they do nothing. At the same token many of them in the USA are not very experienced in the sleeve, it's one main reason why I chose to go to Mexico. Good luck and keep us posted! I hope you feel better soon!!!

    Need Help With Some Things

I recommend at least two weeks off work post op, some people have gone back earlier but it all depends on the type of job and the person. I highly recommend a magic bullet or something like it. I love mine and the shakes that you make yourself taste better (in my opinion) if made on it than just mixed with a spoon. I also use it to blend soups and things, the first few beeks you will only be having liquids. A blender works too but I like the combinience of the small bullet. You will not be eating/drinking much at one time. I love my lunch crockpot kkeeps my soup hot while I eat it, I hate cold soup! It takes me anywhere from 30 minutes to one and a half hours to drink six ounces of soup! I am a little over two weeks post op! Good luck in your journey!
  15. I had surgery May 10 with Dr. Ponce De Leon. My whole experience including my surgery is on my YouTube videos you are welcome to watch them. I loved my experience and would highly recommend him and his team! Cost was $5500 plus flight cost, I spent less than $6000 total including souvenirs and tips. I chose Dr. Ponce because of his experience level, he has taught many surgeons such as Dr. Kelly and Dr. Almanza on doing the sleeve and has done surgeries in many surgeons, doctors and medical staff in Mexico. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. Good luck in your journey!

Flying - How Long After Vsg Is Ok?

I would aim for surgery first week of june or right after the trip in July. You want to give your body every opportunity to heal.

Flying - How Long After Vsg Is Ok?

If that is shortly postop I don't recommend it! I too had surgery in mexico and the flying is not bad, but the following and chaperoning kids around will drain you. I am two weeks post op and I get very tired very fast just walking in the store for one hour drains me. If you are longer post op or pre op it should be ok, but if it's right after surgery the amount of fluids you can get in is very very limited. Good luck!

    Travel Question

Would you be driving? I had my surgery in Mexico. I was alone there, I did have a grea coordinator ad sleeve sisters bt I felt pretty well a couple of days post op. I was in the hospital two days then in a hotel two more days then I flew home. I felt pretty good but not good enough to drive drive for any amount of time. The lack of food scared me. If someone is driving you it would be nice to have some company for recovery specially in days that you are not feeling well and you might need some extra help. The drive should not be bad if someone else is driving, just make sure you stop at least every hour and walk around to prevent blood clots (it's what my surgeon suggested) and if possible wear some compression stockings. My worst fear as always been blood clots because they can kill you silently and fast! I made a YouTube video about preventing them. Good luck in your journey!
  19. Feel better soon! I am glad you went to the doctor. Take care of yourself
  20. I would definitely go to your pcp and get it checked out. It does look like strep and its better safe than sorry, you don't want an infection moving down specially since you are probably taking things to raise your stomach ph which bacteria loves. Strep and other bacteria and microbes live everywhere
