  4. Lisa- I want to thank you for starting this thread. For some reason it's really helping me enter into fitday my entire day instead of quitting at dinner because I ate out and it's hard to count...and I'm not sure I want to know. Seeing everyone make good and bad choices and then get on with life is really helping me keep this all in perspective. And, I think I may have broken my plateau but shhhh...I don't want to jinx it if it's true... Congrats on your bandster day!!! Can you really binge on a cucumber? Friday Breakfast 9:30 half a cup of raisin bran crunch with milk lunch noon chicken thigh with teriyaki sauce Snack 1:00 half a cup of strawberries with a little sugar on them Calories: 317 Fat: 9 Carbs:41 Protein:22
  5. OK, since I'm the one that discovered this, I've had a little more time to let it sink in. I am on several dating sites, so having my photo and stats out there isn't that weird. The part, for me, that is a little disturbing is having my weight and my heartfelt thoughts easily accessed. One thing that I should not have done is make my profile name for LBT the same as other screen names so you *could* google it. I have to agree with Donali about the a third option. Megan
  6. I hope you have a wonderful year of love, happiness, and luck. Happy Birthday!!! Megan
  7. Ok, so I feel kind of violated. I didn't know that all of my posts to lapbandtalk .com would be easily accessible by doing a screen name search. Maybe I'm freaking out a little and I'll feel better about it, but that google spider thing really dug around. Megan
  8. Ummm... I have to ammend my daily journal because I just ate about two cups of chocolate ice cream. I don't know how it happened. I think I was kidnapped and forced to eat it. yeah, that's my story. Total Calories after adding about 450 for the ice cream: 1600

Being banded is more than just putting a little inflatable tube around your stomach and restricting calories. To me, it's about choosing a more healthy lifestyle. In my opinion, and it is only mine, drinking several cans of soda a day is not healthy for anyone, let alone someone who is serious about becoming a healthier person. I say this as a former diet coke junkie. I look longingly at my sister's diet coke at a meal and I - every once and awhile- take a sip and enjoy how it dances on my tongue. But now my skin is clearer than it's ever been, my body feels clean and strong. I no longer feel lethargic after a major caffeine binge. I get a headache now just from eating too much chocolate. Sure I miss diet coke, but it is a small price to pay to be healthy. Megan
  10. Estela- Good for you for seeking out counseling. It's a hard first step to take, but it is so worthwhile when you find the right counselor for you. Best of luck! Megan

  13. Final tally for me... Breakfast, 6 a.m. I did the drive of shame home this morning and stopped and got a sausage biscuit at McDonalds. I only ate one side of the buscuit, and about 3/4 of it. 8 oz milk lunch noon: 1 pouch of tuna and 3 tbls. light miracle whip UNLEASH THE SNACK MONSTER! 15. This is a facinating thread..everyone varies so much on amounts and kinds of foods. 16. I don't know where the heck I was when this thread originally appeared. I'm a single girl, and I've often had many of the thoughts that you all bring up. One of my best friends is a guy, and I can see it in his eyes that he's more attracted to me now that I've lost weight. I don't know how to feel about that- he's been my best friend through lots of stuff...I can count on him, I love him to death...but I'm a little pissed off that now I might be becoming girl friend material. Hmmm.... I get hit on so much more now. I've told my friends and they all say, "It's because you're more confident, that's all!" and I just want to scream and say, "No it's not you bozoo's ..I was TOO FAT TO FLIRT WITH!". But, because they love me for who I am, they don't really see that. Before I had surgery I had a couple of guys who were "hanger-on-ers". They both liked bigger women and thought I was a hunka burnin' love- great to screw, just not date. After banding I kicked them to the curb because my self esteem has blossomed and I no longer think that is all I deserve. Now I never call a guy first. I expect to be taken out on a date- not go hang out somewhere...It's funny how when you raise your standards the right people rise to the occasion and the wrong ones get left in the dirt. Megan
  17. T- I always thought I hated fat people too. Then I got the lapband and I realized that I hated that I might just look/act/move like them. It wasn't about the other people at all...it was about how I felt about myself. I used to use other people as my measuring stick of how I looked. I think I have some body dysmorphic issues and I can never quite grasp my size. I turned a "I don't look like that person, do I" thought into a "I don't look like that fatso, do I?" over time. Now that I'm banded, I have much more compassion for other obese people. I know their struggle. I feel their pain. I couldn't feel their pain before because I didn't have anything left over after feeling my own. You're not a bad person for feeling this way. We can't help the way we feel. Now that you know you have those thoughts, try to turn them into a compassionate thought. You may soon find that you are more compassionate with yourself, as well. Megan
  18. Thanks for the well wishes. I'm feeling much better today and ate real food. I was scared I'd be too swollen to eat but I guess having two days on Clear liquids did the trick. I did get some nasty trapped gas (TMI, I know, but this is a stomach flu thread) so I took some Gas X and that "went away" if you get my drift. The suppository the Dr. perscribed is called "Tigan (generic form)". Kimberly- I sure would suggest calling your doctor and getting a perscription just in case, especially when you KNOW you've been exposed. Once again, thanks everyone! Now go get your suppositories!!! Hee hee... Megan
  19. Thanks for the kind words Darcy and Donali. Donali- I had stored my surgeon's number in my cell phone...what a life saver!!! Megan
  20. Yep...I got it this weekend. I hadn't been feeling all that great for several days. Then I went out to dinner and started to feel a little queasy...but I just thought, I won't eat any popcorn at the movie and I"ll be fine. Well, half way through the movie "Wedding Date", they start talking about throwing up and well, that was all I could take. I calmly walked to the bathroom and barely made it into the stallbefore it started. Holy crap, with the first spasm I thought I was going to pull my band right off my stomach and throw it up. It hurt like an SOB, let me tell you! Then I kept throwing up, but nothing came up. It was horrid!!! After I stopped dry heaving, I burped the loudest burp that has ever come out of my body. I sounded like a thirteen year old boy after drinking a can of coke. Anyway...I ended up on the toilet with it coming out the other end... As soon as I could, I got my sister out of the movie and had her drive me to the hospital. On the way there, I called the Resident on Call for my surgeon. I had another round of heaving and it seriously hurt like someone had reached into my gut and was pulling out my stomach. The resident called in to the ER so they new to expect me, and told the doctor there to administer some anti-nausea meds. The resident also kept telling my sister that I shouldn't worry that I'm hurting my band, that after a year and four months it can take some vomitting. That made me feel a little better. When we got to the ER, the nurses had no clue what I was talking about, and I was so glad the resident had talked to the doctor because I don't think they would have treated me any differently and given me the anti-nausea meds. The meds started working right away and I felt much better. The ER doc perscribed some supositories to use when I got home, and however gross it is to use them, they worked. I'm on liquids for another day or so..but I'm feeling much better after sleeping all day yesterday and keeping my fever at bay with some children's liquid tylenol. I sure hope no one get's the stomach flu...if you do, make sure to get some anti-nausea meds quickly!!! I'm going to keep some in my purse and in my medicine cupboard from now on. Megan
  21. Alexandra.... I feel exactly the same way...but I couldn't articulate it quite yet. Donali's post has had me thinking, too, and I'm so glad to know that I'm not alone in feeling like this is the rest of my life and it's ok to not have an answer when people say "how much weight do you want to loose?" Megan
  22. Joan- I was back at work in three days...I believe there are some lifting restrictions, but laproscopic surgery makes the recovery so much easier. Every one is different- some people have severe gas pains for a few days, some people don't need any pain meds after the first day or so. Best of luck! Megan
  23. Jonathan- I'm so sorry you're going through this! I was one of those that recovered very fast with little trouble so I can't tell you that I've been through it and know what you're going through but I wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you. As long as you are in constant contact with your doctor, and you're on fluids, I'm assuming that you aren't going to die. You may feel like it, but odds are pretty slim. I know for me that every PB I have, I get more and more swollen. I hope that once you get a tiny bit unswollen you'll be able to keep your siliva down, at least. I sure hope you are feeling better soon. Keep us posted and I'll be sure to send positive thoughts your way. Megan
  24. FINALLY you got the help you needed. Dr. Billy sounds like a fantastic Dr. and I am so glad he took such good care of you. You deserve it! It really sounds like he is an angel and exactly what you need to get you healed up finally. Can I ask what homework he gave you? I'm on a recommittment to my band journey at the moment. Did he say anything that really hit home that all of us might benefit from? Thanks for the NSAIDs info...I hate Tylenol but it's a small price to pay. Reading everything that Penni and John have done for you is wonderful. I'm so glad she has been there for you through all of this. I'm sure there are times when you don't feel you deserve her help and love, but you do, Lisa. And Penni knows that you'll be there for her too. That's what true friends do for each other. You two are so lucky to have found each other. Feel better soon... Megan
  25. This is just the kind of thread I need today. When I start to get discouraged, I try to get out my before photos and not only look at the difference physically, but feel how different I am inside as well. Thanks, Lisa for doing this! I've lost another 10 since this photo but I don't have a new one scanned in yet. I'll work on getting a new one scanned in this weekend. Megan
