  1. I want to know how you are doing today? I am just reading your message in Sept. It is hard when snacking does not get stuck. I still cannot eat meat and vegetables almost two years later. Haven't lost any in 6 months. After reading all these post i am going to commit until December to do my best. I might be doing shakes a couple times a day to get on track. I really want to know how you are doing. Thanks

  2. Weight loss has helped me so much in that I FEEL like going places and being with people. Not because they might have minded but I did. I also know that I am not going to gain weight.

I do not care that some might think it is a short cut doing surgery. It is a life change. I cannot eat the breads, some of the meats and the amount of food I used to.

The past few months I have become very concerned about the way my body is looking. I noticed my arms are not only hanging but there it looks like wrinkles. My face is sagging all over, especially on my eyelids (difficult for putting in contacts) and around my mouth. My neck is bad. My stomach actually hurts at times due to the skin. I cannot wear shorts because of the skin.

I never thought plastic surgery was a real need for others. Now I hope something will be done to help us with the extra skin and making surgery to correct it affordable.

I am very thankful for the past two years of life with lap band. I

  3. Did you find a doctor? I use Jesse Lopez at Heartland spine and specialty. He and his staff are great!!!!!!!!!!!

quote=missourimule;499806]Is there any one out there that has had their surgery here in Kansas City??? I am looking into having mine there soon. I hope. My insurance won't cover it but they have an agreement with capitol one that I can get to cover the cost. I was wanting to know what all you had to do before the surgery and how long did you have to wait to have it done. Thanks

  4. I think you should file complaint with all agencies.

Thank you for telling us and good luck. I still love Dr. Lopez and Heartland spine and specialty is immaculate, too. I am pretty sure the price was $10,200 for self pay, but great west paid mine. Be sure to get everything in writing if you are going to an out of network place that promises to give you in network price. Everything to the last penny.

Dr. Lopez is checking into him being with Great West.

    Glad you are so happy!

  5. I know what you mean. I had to change docs but I am so happy and satisfied now. I am in Kansas and Dr. Lopez is great. I had felt abanded. Why don't you visit a doctor while in Florida? If you re having a "problem" while there and you think it's an emergency the insurance should pay the visit. Most doctors charge a $100.00 if cash and it would be worth resolution and success. Good Luck. Florida had alot of band doctors.

  6. My insurance made me do a six month doctor visit with his diet, psych work up, and dietician. But for self pays it is not required in Kansas but some doctors will make you. Dr. Jese Lopez is at Heartland Spine and Specialty(Leawood, KS). Very safe, great to work with staff. I hope you find the same there, if not come here. It's a great place to visit.

    Check other doctors.

  7. In overland Park. I hope you do well today. My regular doctor fought very hard and got it qualified. If you ever come this way, let me know. Many of us need each other for support. I knew that I needed to change my life so I could enjoy it. I know its the best decision I made for myself in many years. You will be glad, too. Some weeks I don't loose as much as I think I should, but I am not gaining. I am so much happier now with the surgery.

    Good Luck and fast recovery.:clap2:

I am self pay (not easy for my family to do). I have been turned down for private insurance because of my weight, with zero-health problems. DH is not offered insurance at his work. I have been "at home" since late 2004 and FINNALLY got pregnant and carried full term.... 10-19-05. That's the day I became Mazie's mommy!! I have chosen to stay home with her since then (and probably til' she turns 2).

My expenses are totalling just about $18,000.00 with a full year of follow up and fills. DH is "so" supportive that he used the word twice, and finally decided to take me to, and from, the hospital on sugery day! (my sister took time off from work to take me/never thought he would take me) DH does not want to be penalized/punished because I want to make changes! I know I'm in this for me.......But, a little help/suuport here......would be great!!! It does hurt my feelings when I get the eyerolls or comments that are...not so nice. As much as I want him to be Mr. Wonderful--sometimes he's just not!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL IN APRIL ---GREAT SURGERY --FAST RECOVERY -- LITTLE PAIN --BEST RESULTS ---AND MUCH HEALTH, TO EVERYONE!!!!!

  8. My dr told me the same thing. Because of the loss, the fat that was close moved, and that is why we need fills. I have been loosing alot slower than I thought I would. My new goal for the next week is to excercise every day. Everyone on this site swears it will make it a difference So I am going to try it for awhile. I am now only making weekly goals but keeping my desire to look and feel great at my goal weight. Thanks for sharing. Lets do great this week!

  9. I slept and slept, walked a few times that night. I was so excited about surgery. I didn't sleep as much days before. I really wanted to just sleep and be happy! Sweet dreams and good luck.

    Hey all

wow what a crayz couple of days. Yesterday I spent most of my day at the hospital but on a happy note:

I do not have any gallstoness

I do not have any blood clots

I do not have to have the sleep study

I got an extra script to keep me from throwing up after surgery, I always do

I do not have to go back or any other appts until April 16 when they do my banding !!!!! YIPEE!!

My friend Melissa (I met at support group) had her surgery yesterday and it went so well (she is on the March board here) her surgery was at 2 and took less than an hour, she couldn't get a room until 8:30 so unfortunately for her she was very alert and in the recovery room but they got her ipod and a book while she waited.

she is home tonight and sounded great and felt good when I talked to her. She showed me where he went it. I was so excited for her and was so great to be there with someone else ! I am going to visit her Monday so I'll get some tips!

So that is what I've been up to the last 2 days. I am so excited I can't stand it.

  10. maybe change doctors. Mine let me go to my norm. In fact, he wrote a letter in support of my surgery. My insurance would not pay for their psycko but paid for mine. I was stuck with their dietician though. My new doc disagrees with alot of what she told me. Where do you live?
