  1. I am so frustrated! I am not loosing weight during my pre op diet!! I have lost 13 pounds prior to starting this phase. What was funny was my dietician told me initially (1 month ago) I hadn't been eating enough (quality not empty calories) so I began to eat more (good for you foods not junk) and the weight began dropping. Now I haven't lost a pound in 8 days. I have gained!! I am strictly following my doctors orders . 2 shakes a day, 2-3 special snack bars, 4 oz lean meat & 2 cups steamed veggies.

    Any May Sleevers Here?

May 15th for me!! I am down 13 pounds with the Pre Op... but my body isn't liking all of the protein ! I have a bowel obstruction & am miserable. I have been doing Miralax since day 1 & tons of water. I am lactose intolerant already and have watched it.

    Dallas June Sleevers?

I am from Plano! Love to see so many people that are close. My date is May 15th!! I will be at Forest Park with Dr. Nick.... so nervous/excited/scared!!! I got info about support groups for after surgery. There are a few Dietitian classes throughout the process that they gave me & a support group that meets at Forest Park Medical Center the second Wed @7.

    Bcbs Of Texas---Rowan Companies

It depends if it is an H.M.O. or PPO. I have the PPO and all that it required was a psych eval & sleep study. It is covered like any other surgery, subject to deductibles & co insurance. Call the insurance and ask if the surgery is covered under your policy.
  7. I have BCBS TX (I have a high deductible policy) with a $1000 deductible & then they cover 70%. I don't really have a lot of hoops to jump through, I just had to do a psych eval. My ins & Dr's office are kind of wishy washy about this. They are asking for $1000 up front (expected) but I am trying to figure out how much this will cost me after everything is said and done. I know I will owe 30% of all charges beyond that as well as my $150 hospital. I am just trying to gauge this before hand. I am pretty versed in ins (kid with med issues) & I have had the shock of opening bills months after a surgery and just not know what I was getting myself into.

    Ghrelin and memory / learning?

Hey,it isn't that I am disagreeing with any science or your research. I am not making any assumptions about what causes memory loss, I am sure that there could be numerous reasons even related to nutrition or dehydration. This was just a complaint that I had heard from numerous people post surgery. I am just curious if it got better over time or when the weight loss leveled out. I found this thread from a specific search of memory loss & VSG surgery.

    Ghrelin and memory / learning?

Okay... so has it gotten better for anyone? I consider myself a sharp person & a major part of my job is to be very detailed oriented (keeping up with a very artistic add genius). This scares the crap out of me.
  10. I am right there with you... I just had my appt on 3/9 and am scheduled on the 4th. My head is spinning and I have spent the last 2 days scouring the internet about complications, side effects, and and before and after photos. I know that this is the right choice. I keep reading about the hair loss, the excess skin...etc. Bottom line, this is where I am and I need to move forward for myself and my kids. I haven't told anyone and don't know if I am right now. I have 3 people that I know that have just had the surgery (1 who is still keeping it a secret).
