  1. I agree control with be the big tool. I am working on that too I don't want to feel "full" again I like feeling satisfied and comfortable.
  2. I have been able to eat since the 2nd week out, I had no problems with food digestion and my doctor gave me the green light to eat anything I could tolerate. So far I can eat anything except I became lactose intolerant. It scares me that I can eat so easily. I see my doctor again on Wed. the 14th will post what he tells me. Thanks for your response I am also watching other peoples replies.

  5. hello Britgal, I my insurance paid for my surgery as it was medically necessary. I have a variety of issues that require my losing weight. Good luck with your surgery I would do it again in a second...I am so glad I had it done and that I chose Sleeve verus Lap Band. My daughter had lap band and she is doing great but it is a lot more involved. All the fills etc. Nice to meet you too.

  6. I am somewhat the exception in this case as I had absolutely no problems from day one so I can not think of anything I would do differently but I will say I would have tried to find out more about Protein rich foods since I am still haveing a hard time working all my protein into my diet. I have found I can't tolerate the protein powders as they literally make me feel sick to my stomache It may be mind over matter but everytime I try to drink one I end up with a stomache ache. Good luck with your journey
  7. I have been telling everyone that I had my sleeve done on August 9th and I am doing great. Well I saw my doctor today for my two week post op and I am doing better than great. I know this will sound crazy but he released me to eating anything I can tolerate as of today. I did become lactose intolerant after the 1st week and was told to go ahead to stage 2 soft foods at that time. I did great on the soft foods. When the doctor asked me how I was feeling and how I was tolerating my soft foods I told him it was going great. He also wanted to be sure I was not having any problems with my bowels and I assured him that was fine too. After talking and my examine he said I have progressed faster than he ever expected from any of his patients and said he sees no reason to restrict my diet. WOW I was shocked but elated. Crazy as this sounds I feel like a brand new person, being given a new lease on life. I lost 6 lbs in two weeks and the doctor was really happy with that. I am 59 years old, 4' 10 " tall and weighed in at 175 at my surgery. I am not what you call extremely heavy but I have lots of medical issues that created the need for this surgery. High Blood pressure, sleep Apnea, spinal stenosis, hip joint degeneration, arthritis in both knees, just to name a few. I was classified as disabled by SS in 2008 and I hate that I can't enjoy life like I should. I have tried every diet out on the market and then some and nothing helps, I had my thyroid radiated as it was not working and that didn't help with the weight issues at all. The weight has been pulling me down physically and emotionally. When I found out about the sleeve I was so glad to know there was finally something that might help me. I have a total of 50 lbs to lose and I am just glad this surgery is available to help when nothing else did. I am so looking forward to getting healthy again. This is going to be my chance to enjoy life again. Thanks for listening.
  8. I just saw my doctor on Wednesday and that is exactly one of the questions I asked him... He didn't give me a total for each day but he did tell me to try to keep the sugar less than 10 grams if at all possible but if an item had more, then be sure to keep it under 15 grams of sugar. I would say you just have to be aware of the amount of sugar you are consuming and keep it as low as you can. It can be hard finding low sugar in things but it is well worth it when you see the loss on the scale. This is a life style and it takes some work but you will be glad you did it.

    Breakfast Meatballs

Do you know the Protein count on these? Thanks for sharing
  10. That is really great...I understand I had to have my thyroid radiated for similar conditions. It makes it nearly impossible to get the weight off. Thank Heavens for the sleeve. Keep up the good work.

I am sure you will be happy with the sleeve, I had the choice of either the sleeve or the full gastric by pass and choose the sleeve as it was considered to be about the same basis results for me and I am happy I did. I am two weeks since my surgery and feel great...I see my doctor tomorrow for my post op appointment and am looking forward to seeing my weight loss results. Good luck and good health to you.

  13. Susan, I enjoyed your story it was so very vivid. I laughed at so many of your experiences and was almost jealous I couldn't relate with something funny from my own sleeve surgery. I had mine done in Colorado in a "perfect American" hospital...boring by comparison. You should indeed write a story of your life, anything you write when expressed as you did in the story of your sleeve surgery would surely be a best seller. You are a very talented writer. I am glad all went well and your are home and looking forward to your second chance at life. Please keep writing with more information as you go thru the trials finding new foods and new ideas of how to eat. Thanks again for the great laughs.
  14. I am two weeks out tomorrow and was given the go ahead to start soft foods last Thursday. I had become lactose intolerant. I find I can get my protein in as long as I continue to drink the Protein Drink but am still having trouble getting my fluids completed, I am afraid to try to push things too fast. I know it will come with time. Hang in there it is great to be able to have the soft foods.
  15. I am only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery but so far I feel wonderful I look forward to support from anyone else who has had this surgery.

My daughter had the lap band surgery ayear ago and now I have had the sleeve. we are both supportive of each other but neither of us are competative as we know each person loses at his or her own pace. Good luck I know you will both be very happy with your decision.

I had my sleeve gastrectomy on August 9th and I feel wonderful, I had almost no pain even on my first day of surgery and so far I am still feeling great. I am now on stage 2, soft food diet and all is going well I hope this continues as I am very happy with my decision to have the sleeve.
