  1. wow - isn't there someone you can report that office too???? i don't know what area you are in but maybe you can find another dr. who is more "pro sleeve". don't let it get to you - we are all here, loosing.
  2. i eat really small every 3-4 hours - it best suits me because i don't eat much at all when i sit down for a meal.
  3. 1 - some foods are easier then others but you get to know what your body can tolerate and what it can't. it does not hurt but if your body is not happy with it it will let you know. you are full very easily and yes at times you will get nauseous and even throw up. 2 - i felt no pain at all. i was on a morphine drip the first day and they disconnected it the second. they tried to give me pain meds in my iv but it did not sit well so i told them i didn't want any more. 3 - because my dr. put me on low carbs as soon as i had a consult with him it was easy for me to get used to not eating the carbs after the fact. sometimes i can honestly say i get frustrated because i think i am hungry make food and then i take a bite and am not hungry. i am 6 1/2 weeks out and yogurt has been my best friend. 4 - as of now - no regrets at all i am 40 lbs down since surgery on jan. 12, 2011. i am very happy with the results thus far. 5 - sometimes i think i don't want to be able to ever eat "normal" food again cause i don't want to gain any weight back. but i just keep thinking to what my dr. told me, no pretzels, popcorn, crackers, chips, Pasta or rice. no ice cream even if its sugar free. all of these foods are snack foods and they will stretch your pouch and make you more hungry. one thing tho. i did stop drinking soda completely 6-8 months prior to surgery. 2 months prior i stopped drinking coffee and any caffeine these two things were probably the best thing i could of done to prepare. good luck on your journey - keep us posted. I've been reading a bit on these forums and I have some questions. 1. I've noticed a couple of people mention they can hardly get food down after the surgery. Why is this? Does it hurt? Are you simply full? Nauseous? 2. Do you feel any pain the surgery? 3. Just how hard is it? If you're hungry in your head (which I'm thinking happens a lot), how do you work through that? Do you crave solid food or is the liquid diet doable? 4. Did any of you regret having the surgery? 5. Can you ever eat normal food again? Ok, I think that's all for now. Thanks for the info and feel free to throw anything else in there that I forgot. : )

  6. i too had issues with fish until just recent and even now still can't eat tuna fish from the can or any kind of salmon. I did find a talapia that settles nicely. good luck.
  7. So there are times when i can eat and everything is fine, no problems no issues. Then there are times where I am so hungry and nothing sits well in my stomach. I am a little over 5 weeks out .... what does this mean??? All suggestions are accepted - this is not the first time this has happened.

I go once a week (i know tmi sorry) which is so not comfortable for me. Before surgery I would go after every meal and then some. It was not uncomfortable it was almost a releif. I know that sounds totally bazzaar but when you are so used to going to not going at all i am misrable. Can someone help me???? My 2 week vent

Anna - i am three weeks and two days out - mushies aren't any better trust me. I drink chicken broth all the time. I think it helps with some kind of craving. Don't ask me what it is but i feel a boost of energy and its warm and goes down so easy i swear to you i could drink it all day. The only thing the mushies have done for me is make me constipated. So talk about no weight loss in the last few days, well your lookin at it. I almost feel better just drinking warm fluids then eating when i am backed up (TMI sorry). Just do what you can - i am in the same boat - but love my chicken broth. Try it it might help and its 3 grams of protein a cup so its some protein. good luck carmy
  13. I am 3 weeks out minus a day and the last 4 days have been horrible for me. I feel sick when i eat and i feel sick when i don't eat. I know doesn't make sense but has anyone gone through this??? I almost feel like I want to go back to just liquids. Any suggestions will help.
  14. I was having the same problem in the beginning. try stool softners - i usually take one or two a day and its keeps me regular. I have read on here that a lot of people like the liquid form but if i have to drink any more then i already do i might float away. good luck - i know that can be the worst feeling ever. carmy

  18. I am a new sleever but am doing a lot of research on donating my clothes to abused women or women trying to get back on their feet. Anyone have any suggestions???? I am in the San Diego area and really have a lot of clothes all different kinds - I know that I haven't changed sizes yet but I feel it in the next week or so I will begin to clean out drawers and closets. If anyone needs anything just ask.

    64 oz water, really?

I just asked my dr about this the other day. How do you know if you are drinking enough? I said. Say you have a 16-20 bottle of Water of some kind, how long should it take you to drink it? His answer to me was. If you take a sip every minute or two you should be drinking at least 30 oz in one hour. Yes i had the same look on my face, but its true, or so he says so. I have always heard in the past you should drink 64 oz of water in a day plus 8 oz for every 20 lbs you want to loose. Hmmmm Maybe it was true all along.

    First Time Getting Sick

Who knew it would be so bad - I don't know if i ate too much or if the Salmon didn't agree with me. I had more pain being sick then i did having the surgery - is that normal. I finally got it out and felt a little better after an hour or so but OMG i will never do that again.
  21. I drink "Pure Protein Shake" they have vanilla and Cookies and cream that are so good. They come in a can shaped like a bottle. I put it in the freezer about 20 mins before i start to drink it and its really cold and stays cold. But even at room temp they are really good. Taste like Ice Cream. 23 grams of protein per can. good luck
  22. Protein Protein Protein - i feel a total difference when i am in need of some protein. drink broth throughout the day - it helps a ton.
  23. You should never go back to having caffeinated coffee. My Dr. said I could drink De-Caf right away. I am 10 days post op and I sip on coffee (decaf) every morning. I use Truvia as my sweetener and use milk or soy to lighten it up. I look at it this way ..... the pain i went through to get off the caffeine reminds me just to stay away from it all together. good luck
