One of my friends had the procedure in June and she's had wine. I will go crazy without some wine!

It's a whole lot cheaper if you don't have health insurance or if health insurance won't cover it. And there are meant fine doctors there.

I confess that I am sitting here on the day before surgery reading these confessions eating sugar free jello and slurping chicken broth and wishing I had a double cheese burger from Wendy's with a large fry and a coke!!

You were right! It is here already! I'm doing pretty well. I've got to be at the hospital at 5:30 am Monday! Woohoo! Let's get this show on the road! Tomorrow I'm going to clean out the old pipes with magnesium citrate. And Sunday I'll do all clear liquids! How are you? How far out are you? Are you pleased with your progress?

I bought several bottles and liked the Alpine Punch. I was going to buy a big container for the clear liquid week, but you guys have made me change my mind. Thanks.

I personally love high heels! That has probably contributed to my aching joints! So, I guess I'm no help, but maybe look at a Nine West or Bandolino. Some of their short boot styles tend to have chunky heels rather than pointy heels.

Surgery on Monday. Top weight 303! Present weight 294. Goal weight 195. Personal goal 185 (1 lb less than the weight on my license!)

I am having a hiatal hernia repair too. My surgery was supposed to be today, but had to be rescheduled to Monday. Long story... But, initially, my ins said that they would cover the sleeve and not the hernia because I had no record of problems with it. I couldn't wait to get a hold of that ins rep and say that if you look at my chart, I have had abdominal problems for years. Just because I didn't know it was the hernia and acid reflux causing these problems, doesn't mean that the problem didn't exist! Of course, now they are paying for both! Do you have any extra problems associated with the repair and not the sleeve?

I agree on the no return calls from the coordinator, but she did respond to emails.

When I was waiting for approval, I was told by the nurse with the ins that they needed more info about my weightloss history. I asked if she needed that from me and she said she had requested it from my surgeon's office. It may have delayed the process some, but I was approved after 2 weeks. So, it's not unusual.

Thanks guys for the support! I do appreciate it! My assistant is out having a baby, so she called this morning when I was crying to check on me. She heard me sobbing and said, 'Oh, no you don't ! You've wanted this too long to doubt yourself now! Pull your big girl panties up and let's do this!' That's pretty much what I told her when she called me crying during labor from her hospital bed! So, I offer the same advice to all of us - let's pull the big girl panties up and get through this! The rest of it (how much will I lose, will I be successful, etc.) can wait until the surgery is done!

I had a slight breakdown this morning! I was getting ready for work and just started crying my eyes out! It's not that I'm scared.... Okay, maybe a little, but I think my biggest fear is failure once again. What if it doesn't work for me? This seems like such a last ditch effort and I don't want to screw this up! Anybody feeling my pain out there?

This is the week! Getting a bit anxious and nervous... I bought post-op stuff over the weekend! This is an expensive journey!

For those who had both a hernia repair and VSG, was your recovery time longer? People seem to suggest recovery is longer if you have both. I am having surgery Aug. 16.

I don't take lexapro, but I do take an anti-depressant. I was told to take before and after because anesthesia can aggravate depression.

One of my friends had the VSG on a Thursday and was back at work Monday. She didnt know that she should take 2 weeks off. So, it's possible.

I've always been one to lose lots of inches and less weight. I would be happy with that!
