  1. Gig41 no need to be nervous, you'll be out before you even realize it. I just had my surgery yesterday and it was a breeze. I'm tender and it hurts to get up and down but other than that all is good. Just think of things that make you happy and why you're going lap band....keep your eye on the prize, you'll do great! Deb

Hope you are doing well post-op. i'm glad the surgery went well. Thank you for the encouragment!!

  2. GOOD cuz I need it. This pre-op diet SUCKS. If I was any good at dieting I would be a skinny B already, AND I know it's all mental. Like I'm having a hard time losing 10 lbs because I've been told I have to.

    I'm pouting today.

I so agree with you!!!! The pre-op diet sucks bad but it's almost over and then we are on to the POST-OP diet!!!! Yay for us. LOL

  3. Welcome glg41! It's great to see our group is growing rapidly! I feel very fortunate to be among all you nurses. Good luck tomorrow with starting your liquid diet. I have been dieting since January 4, the day after I met with my surgeon. My required doctor appointments passed by quickly, but now that I am actually scheduled for surgery, it seems like the days are creeping by.

I am now on day 7 of the 14 day pre op diet. It has been difficult but not as bad as I feared. I did have a slip yesterday. I ate a slice of pizza. I felt so guilty afterwards. I was back on track immediately!! I don't want to ruin by chance at being banded next Tuesday.

  4. I am the nurse that circulates the lap band surgeries so I definitely know what is going to take place as far as the procedure goes!! So there is no keeping it secret for me but that's fine with me. I am hoiping it will make me more accountable! I am so glad I stumbled along this website.

Hi gig. I think one of the things I have to put under my nervous column is that I am also having my procedure done at the hospital where I work also. It's a pretty large facility, so most of the people who will be caring for me don't know me since I work in cardiology. Plus, I tend to be a private person and haven't told but 3 people at work yet. I have no plans of hiding that I am having lap band surgery, but I am also not shouting it through the hallways. You probably know how us medical people can be. Once I return to work and say I was out for 3 weeks due to having surgery, there will be questions galore.

  5. Hello! I am due to have my surgery on March 27! I am so excited but also nervous which is normal I'm sure. I am starting the 2 week liquid diet on Tuesday March 13. I am a RN and I work in surgery. I will be having the procedure at the facility where I work. I have been overweight my entire life and I can't wait to begin this life change!!
