  1. I have always told everyone. I really don't care what people think. It was a choice for me and my life and it is a part of me. Of course you have to do what you feel is best. I have a coworker that had a band as well, she wants no one to know. She only told me now cause I have been open and told everyone I have it. It was easy to figure out since we eat lunch together and I noticed alot of the same habits. But I waited for her to tell me. To each it's own I say. But as far as your boss it's really none of their business to even ask you a question like that. It's your choice whether you want to tell them or not. I would just use a general term, like it's an outpatient procedure I have to get done, and that's it.

  2. So saw the doctor today he ordered an ultrasound and imaging for next week to see what is wrong. He also threw out "possible gallbladder issue". Isn't your gallbladder on the right side? My pain is on the left at he bottom of my ribs. But I know the tests will show what is going on. Hopefully it's nothing serious! I'm praying!

  3. My first thought was gall bladder too. From what I've read on this forum and from my sister (had hers removed but no wls). Second thought was diet. Have you introduced a new food/recipe or whatever recently? Did you start drinking carbonated sodas? Are you eating more than you were before?

No I haven't. I quit drinking all carbonated drinks right before surgery. I ate a lot of vegetables on Monday and I think It may have been hard to digest? Maybe it stretched it? I have my appt in the am so I will keep this up to date with the results.

    Thanks for the suggestions though!

  4. That's great to hear! I know it is slow but I feel it is the best way to keep it off! I know I'm not at my goal weight yet, but I feel great and I believe I look great! Such a relief just to not have to worry anymore! I am so happy for your success! We will continue to reach our goals I'm sure of it!

  5. By chance are you consuming a high amount of gassy vegetables? I have been going through these phases off and on and it is severe gas cramping along with a lot of flatulence and occasional diarrhea. Sorry for the TMI. Just trying to help. I found once I cut down my veggie intake a bit it smoothed out but still occasionally get it. Seems Brussels sprouts are a trigger for me. Also, I really like Cauliflower as well and that is known for causing gas. . This site has a little more information: http://howtostayhealthy.hubpages.com/hub/Foods-That-Make-You-Gassy-and-Bloated

Yes it definitely could be. I am a vegetarian but I do eat seafood. I have just never had it last for this many days. On Monday for lunch I had a hibachi grill with all veggies and shrimp. It started hurting around 7pm that night. Even yesterday it kept coming back( the bloat). I only had liquids on Tuesday and that may have made it worse. Only due to I was so nauseated. I'm going to try to eat normal today and see if it helps. That you for the link, I'm definitely going to read it and try to stay away from gassy foods.

  6. Could it by any chance be your gallbladder? I know when I first had trouble with mine, I really thought I had horrible gas pains that I couldn't get rid of. I tried everything to no avail and wound up in the ER in the middle of the night when the pain finally had me vomiting. It felt like I had huge pockets of gas roaming around in my entire abdominal cavity.

Ughhhh I have no idea. But yes that is the exact feeling. The bloat and pain go away for a whole after I drink a hot tea or broth, or after I eat. I have the appt with the lap band dr Friday so hopefully he can see what it is. Thank u for your help!

  7. I've tried rice three times since being banded and all three times I got stuck and vomited. I've tried eating slow, chewing until the cows came home and even tried mixing in some sauce. Each time...stuck. It is one of the few foods I absolutely avoid because it isn't worth it.

Me too! I stay far away from rice it always gets stuck! Also any type of bread, I can do small bites of tortilla sometimes. I do fine with chips. But cake, breads, donuts... Any fluffy bread will get stuck! I'm glad for this since it's all bad news!

To the poster: good for you! Eat up! I actually quit eating red meat and chicken since I had too many issues with it, so enjoy you a juicy cheeseburger! And a beer;)

  8. With any surgery it's scary. Believe me I know it's a big decision. The reason I chose lap band because the risks are minimal. I will be honest and tell you the first week after surgery you are going to think..

What did I do to myself???

    It's the pain talking

If you follow your dr. you will have great results. It will change your life forever!

Just look forward to the big change you are about to make.

And even if you are nervous it won't matter, they give you the gas and you are out in a second. It will be the best sleep you have ever had :) no joke

  9. Haven't been on in forever! I wanted to see how everyone is doing since it's almost been 2 years now!

    I started at 233. Size 18/20

    I'm now 178. Size 14!

It has been a slow journey but I feel this time I will keep it off! And only 28 more lbs to reach my goal weight!

I am extremely happy with my band and how it was changed my life! I no longer worry about gaining weight!

  10. I was banded March 2012. I have been extremely happy with my band and the results. I still have 20 pounds to go, but I feel I have done well. I have been in the green zone for over a year and a half. Have had the typical issues of food getting stuck once in a while but that's it. Last week I started getting abdominal pain on and off but just thought it was indigestion? Wasn't sure. I haven't had a fill/ adjustment in over a year or been to a doctor. Monday night I started getting the pain again. Lasted all day yesterday and I can feel the gas just moving around in there. Tried gas x and drinking hot tea and broth. Feeling better today just some pain on and off. I made an appt but it's not til Friday. Just wanted to see if anyone had this happen before and maybe a clue of what it is or what I did.

    Thanks for your responses!!

    Lori

  11. I have the same thing, usually when I eat bread, tortilla etc. I asked my doctor about it. He said its called sliming and not to worry. It's just we are eating too much, too fast, too big of a bite etc.. So the food gets stuck and the natural reaction is a thick saliva tries to go to the pouch to help digestion. The problem is there is no room so it usually comes up. When it happens to me it's just feels like I cant swallow until a few slimed come up, then I'm fine. I just hope this doesn't cause slippage. I have this probably once a week at least. I'm in the green zone also.

  12. loneil0, I use myfitnesspal where can I find the barcode scanner I have an iphone. I would love the barcode scanner please help me find it.

    thank you

When you go to enter the food it is the the right of the search box. If you haven't updated your app in a while might want to do that first. I have an iphone too, so know you have it! Good Luck!

  13. In 2 weeks its been a year since I've been banded. No fills and 45 pounds down. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. U thought I would be down way more than that. But I guess its good with no fills and all. But I think its time for me to get one. Hopefully it don't open up a new issue for me

Well I was fixing to post on here as well. i must have the slowest weight loss ever!!! I will be almost a year in 2 weeks also, only down 26 pounds, but I have had fills, My dr put the band in empty and I have gotten fills little by little every 6 weeks. I reached restriction probably 3-4 months agao, but not helping much with the weight loss. I do exactly what my dr tells me. 1500 calories/day, workout every other day cardio and strength, drink all my Water, 85 g Protein per day. I eat super healthy, no junk! i am a vegetarian but I do eat seafood. I get my protein from fish, bars, and shakes. My sugar and carbs are always on point. I am so frustrated, I was a cash patient too, so I am still paying for this!

I guess I should be glad though becuase I don't have to worry about gaining weight ever again. I don't overeat or eat bad the band has helped me with that. I started at 229 lbs and am now at 203. Been struggling to get the onederland!!! I would just love to be at 150...thats my goal...maybe one day!

  14. I live about 30 min from Galveston and there is some fabulous seafood there that you can eat and not feel guilty!

    Just remember everything grilled!

Stay away from bread and sugar!

Order any fish, shrimp, crab, etc with veggies

Try to ask for no butter or salt when you can

Use my fitness pal or lookup calories on the restaurants website.

  15. I also have been struggling i was banded in March abd lost only 21lbs, but I have been eating not the best choices, even though it is less. I am committed to make this work. Please join myfitnesspal log in your food. We do have to count calories and the Protein. My dr says 1200-1500 cal per day and 75-85g protein a day. The protein is EXTREMELY important for weight loss, so we have to get that in! Also my dr said to lose a pound a week we have to burn 3500 Calories. The exercise for me is easy, I still struggle with food. But I'm committing myself to hold myself accountable with myfitnesspal.
