    Vertical Sleeve...

A coworker of mine had the sleeve done almost two years ago. What should have been an outpatient procedure, ended up an ICU stay and hospital transfer. The staples in her sleeve leaked and she ended up in ICU. She then had to be transferred to another hospital for a procedure that put a mesh like stent in to allow healing. I know her experience is rare, but it hit close to home, thus why I chose the band. Get all the facts and ask your doctor questions.
  3. Thanks for all the replays. I have stuck to liquids and the shakes since yesterday and I'm at the weight I need to be. Let's just hope that it stays there until 10am tomorrow. Hopefully the scale at the doctors takes into account for clothing weight!
  4. Ok I will try that. I didn't even eat dinner cause I'm so nervous. So I will make a shake. I feel like such a failure already and I haven't even been banded yet.
  5. Yes, I'm to do 2 Protein shakes and sensible dinner. Unlimited diet soda Water ss Jello. I have to admit I have been doing one shake a day a dinner as I'm eating Breakfast late. I have had a few snackings such s a handful of roasted sunflower seeds and yes once I did have about a 1/4 cup of rice. I have not had sweetsop carbs. I have some keto sticks and have checked my urine and they show small ketones. Maybe I'm not eating enough but im scared cause when I did have another shake my weight went up. I just can't get the last 2 lbs off.
  6. As I type this I'm drinking my first protein shake. Bought the Magic Bullet so I can make my shakes at work, and that little thing is great! I'm scheduled May 2 for the band and I'm starting to get nervous. Not so much about the surgery, but about failing. I didn't have to start my prep diet until Wednesday but im so scared about not losing 5lbs before my last dr appointment on 4/30. I have always had a large appetite and I'm nervous about being hungry while during this pre-op phase. I just have to try and stay focused.

Does 370 Per Fill Seem Expensive?

I am paying out of pocket and will be coverednfornany fills in the first 90 days. After that it is $200 a fill and within 14 days of that fill if I'm not satisfied I can go back for more or less at no charge.

    Need Info!

Hi. I haven't had my lap band yet. I go to see th coordinator tomorrow. I am 5'4 and weigh 203. I'm worried that I'll be the one not to lose weight or I'll never have goo restriction. I am paying oort of pocket and I don't want it to be a waste of money. When are you getting banded?
  9. Let me introduce myself. My name is Hope, I'm 40 years old married with 3 boys. Weight became an issue with me in the past 8 years. I have tried numerous things WW, prescription medications, diet shakes, and yes...Alli. Had results with the medication only to have the weight come back on and then some. I will be attending a seminar this saturday with my husband's support to learn more on the lap band. This will be a self pay since I fall between the cracks. BMI is 34 with comorbity of high cholesterol. Our insurance, wants BMI of 35 so no go, Thankfully my husband is willing to pay out of pocket for me to have a better body image and most importantly to feel healthy. I've been reading through the forums and it looks like so many happy banded people. I look foward to sharing my success. I would love any advice or tips. thanks Hope
  10. Dr doctor i plan on going to, offers the lap band, self pay for people with bmi 30-35. So, i won't have to worry about the insurance issues. thank goodness. Small price to pay for my health
