  1. Whela, I can talk much faster than I can type on my phone , so I will send you my personal information do a private message ...but I will say that I am in the same boat as well .I live in san antonio texas , single and no kids as well . and have 50 pounds to lose ....I've had that extra 50 pounds for at least the last 7 years . I get the same criticism .....people saying it was a waste of money , why didnt I just go to the gym ... or that I look fine the way I am . even a couple of my sisters begging me not to do it saying that I would be throwing up all the time . I was banned in march 19th . I'm still on liquids and still off of work . I'm doing fine , losing weight and im very positive about my band in my decision im getting it !today is my 9th day and I'm down 9 lbs. BMI was 31 day of surgery. I'm sure it will not stay at this rate ....but I am happy with how I feel so far . glad I found a few people who are in the same boat as I am . I read the others and I never really know how much weight they have to lose it's different when you have a lot more weight to lose as well . everything plays a part . I wish you luck and support is here if you need it . call me, email me , text me ...anytime .....Gina in San Antonio

  2. I'm not worried about counting calories for glass of wine even if they are empty calories ...considering be rediculous amount of calories I have already given up . like all the burgers and fries and Pasta and pizza . so trust me ....I've made my sacrifice ....I feel no guilt as I drink my wine ....and I'm still dropping the pounds every morning when I get on the scale ! :)

  3. I asked this very question about a week ago' date=' and even found youtube videos, and alot of the experienced said no problem drinking, just dont do it while you eat, and yes to remember they are empty calories....but sometimes worth it!! lol...good luck!![/quote']

    Cheers! : )

  4. Don't want to sound like I'm an alcOholic or anything' date=' but at times I enjoy a glass of red wine. I'm 2 weeks post op, have a bridal shower I'm hosting on April 1st and was wondering of its ok to drink? I totally forgot to ask the doctor. And if so has anyone had any issues with drinking? I know it's empty calories...[/quote']

I am only 1 week post op and had my first glass of wine last night.I have my follow up tomorrow and plan on being completely honest about what I eat and drink everything is in my log . don't know if the dvd with facts about the lapband was given to everyone . but it talks about alcohol specifically red wine . video does not specify exactly when you can start drinking wine. but it said studies showed that patient who had a glass of red wine in the evening lost more weight than patient who didn't . it also states that they did not do studies with other spirits ...only red wine . I am only quoting the video information that was given to me ....I have watched that part of the dvd over and over again I was in heaven when I heard that news! this video was given to me twice 1 at the clinic before the surgery ..... and again at the surgery center after I was banded. it's the video on the 8 golden rule ...that came with the book and the food log and the 1 minute hourglass . I'm sure not all clinics give out the same packet . but I was so glad that mine did .

  5. I got banded on March 23rd too:) was going to go back to work Tuesday but I'm still having a lot of gas pain and can't walk without my hand on my tummy but I'm doing really good with the walking!

I made a mistake on my last post I was banded on the 19th ...so I'm a few days ahead of you . your gas will pass : ). it's great that you were doing good if you're walking this early ....I was not able to walk down the street until today . it's just been up and down the hallway and in the backyard . but today was a really good day for me ! even got out to the store for 2 hours and bought a dress ! it was my first time driving too since surgery day.

  6. I still get help ...in n out of bed . when I don't have help here I have to do it on my own and I really struggle . I am very surprised that I am not feeling better and this being my seventh day banded. I am walking around but not much a little bit in the backyard and here inside the house up and down the hallway . haven't got out on the street or at the park at all . I'm just being a big chicken and feel I will not last long out there . glad I have 1 more week away from work .
