OHH you know I am so anxious to finally be under that 300 mark' date=' I want it sooooo bad! I think that is why I got so impatient, because really I am usually very good to sticking with getting on it once a week. It truly is amazing how a household gadget can really trigger your emotions completely to happy, quickly to sad, sometimes ruining your whole spirit!I know it will happen, I just have to be patient [/quote']
I know exactly how you feel! I started out at 332 and was stuck at about 301 FOR-EV-ER. I was THRILLED when I hopped on and saw 298 :-) Now I'm creeping down towards 290. That jump from 301 to 298 has been my biggest motivator yet :-)

Sorry about the band troubles... But Congrats on your success & pregnancy! :-)

Thank you all for you're input. I'm happy to say I found out what the problem was. Between allergies and getting over a cold my post-nasal drip must have been (sorry, this is gross) filling my pouch up with mucus that wasn't draining.
I drank some hot tea and now I can eat again. My next phase is making better choices :-)

I was banded 4/24 and have since had three fills, the last being 8/22. Now I'm paranoid I have a slip.
I have a tendency of eating too fast and then PBing for relief. Since my last fill I've noticed a lot more restriction but here lately I'm wondering if it's too much.
Last night I ate about a half cup of Chef Boyardee spaghetti & meatballs and was satisfied. About 3 or 4 hours later I was able to get down a 1.5" x 1.5" piece of thin crust pizza then I was full.
About two hours later my stomach was growling so I ate about 2 forkfuls of meatloaf & maybe a 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes. I was full up.
Is that how much I should be able to eat? Maybe because pre-surgery I used to eat such huge portions I'm just having trouble getting used to eating so little. I haven't experienced any reflux or nausea. I have had brief moments of light-headedness but I just figured it was from lack of Protein.
For lunch today I ate about two forkfuls of beef taco salad and I'm completely stuffed.
Sorry for the boring, rambling post but any input would be much appreciated!

The biggest problem I have with bread is that its dry. I can tolerate crackers but sandwiches and cake are a no go.
My situation is the opposite. I can eat most dry breads like toast and crackers but moist bread gums up and gets stuck (Croissants, breadsticks ect). Best of luck!

I've "only" lost about 30 since surgery' date=' but am thrilled with my loss. I lost about 20 pre-surgery, and went into the Lapband as a lifestyle change. I do track food, but eat what I want and go about life in a healthier way.Could I have lost more? sure. But, I didn't want to be a slave to another diet. You just need to find what works for you. What are you eating on a daily basis?
Also, I only have between 4.5 to 5cc in my band and feel I am at a decent level.[/quote']
So glad to see this as I'm using the same approach. I had survey on 4/24, am at about 5 ccs and have lost 32 lbs. Could I have lost more by now? Yeah, but I am trying to make a lifestyle change I can live with.
To the OP, Congrats on your 30 lbs! Each day is a new day and each food choice is a new chance to start over. Hang in there!

Thanks everyone! It's still a little irritated today but better. I'm going to take it easy and wait & see :-)

Thanks for everyone's input, I hadn't thought about the insurance aspect, I think I'll check with them
I was actually given a picture, not an xray but an actual picture, of my band from the day of the surgery. I had completely forgotten about it- I dug it out but still can't make heads or tails. I've attached a picture...of the picture if anyone is interested :-)

Okay, maybe the title is a bit dramatic but I'm concerned...
I was banded in April of this year and have lost 32 lbs so far. When I started my pre-op diet my surgeon told me about the band with plication, I told her I was interested. On my last pre-op appointment I asked if we were doing the plication, she said no because it isn't approved yet. I was disappointed but figured, no big deal. A month after my procedure I found out that my surgeon was closing her practice...ughhh. I got two fills from her (she didn't keep track of how much but estimated that there were two ccs in at surgery, one in the first fill and one in the second).
I found a new doctor and at my first appointment with him he was looking over my paperwork and he looked confused. He said brought out the plastic lapband model and asked me to show him what my surgeon did. Long story short, he said my paperwork indicates that she went ahead with the plication without my knowledge. He looked at my barium swallow xrays from after the surgery and he says he's not sure, but he thinks she did the plication.
Granted, its what I wanted but its scary to think I went 4 months not knowing my stomach was all folded in on itself. Is there a way I can find out for sure what is going on in there without doing another barium swallow? Does anyone else have the plication?

I was banded 4 months ago and have lost 34 lbs. I have a horrible cold, or sinus infection and the area around my band is extremely irritated. Just swallowing saliva causes discomfort (minor but worrisome nonetheless). Had anyone else experienced this? Should I be concerned?

My port is right under my ribcage on the right side. No problems so far *knocks on wood*

I was banded on 4/24, have lost 28 lbs.

I just got my first fill on Tuesday, I already had about 2 cvs (they think...don't keep track) and she put in 1.5 more. I can definitely feel a difference. I can still eat more than I should but MUCH less than pre op.
I hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks for the input ladies. I have 3.5 so far and I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect :-)
-
I realize everyone is different but I'm curious, at what point did you reach your sweet spot?
If anyone would be willing to share how many ccs and the size of their band I'd surely appreciate it!

I know how you're feeling. My surgery was 4/24, I lost 27 pounds so far but gained back 3 since starting solids. I've kind of been going a little crazy without restriction.
I got my first fill yesterday, I now have 3.5 ccs in my 10 cc band. It's made a bit of a difference.
I'm SO upset with myself. My willpower sucks!
Good luck!

Has anyone with BCBS of IL ever been denied? I am waiting on my approval I'm just alittle paranoid and nervous.]I was denied once about two years ago because my doctor's notes werent specific enough. I started the process over again in September and I had to do 6 month pre-op diet. the day before my last appointment I found out they did away with the pre-op diet altogether.
Everything was submitted, I called every other day and got my approval over the phone 6 days later. Easy peesy! I was banded April 24.
Good luck!

I'm a numbnuts for not thinking of this sooner, but I'm not sure if my insurance covers my fills? My first fill is tomorrow (Surgery was 4/24). I'm really excited and hoping to get even a little restriction as I have none now.
I have BCBSIL. They covered 80% of my surgery. Does anyone know if they cover a portion of my fills?

Well' date=' it looks like I'm establishing a patter... Fine fine fine, eating under control, and then WHAM one day I need a fill and I'm out of control from the moment I realize it. Saturday night went out for dinner and could barely get 3/4 cup of food in... Sunday, able to eat 4-5 pork dumplings and a whole plate of lo mein... Clearly not what I'm supposed to be eating, and I think if I didn't suspect i could eat it I wouldn't have tried it. But now that I know, I'm on a bit of a tear. I think my body knows i'm getting a fill soon and I'm stocking up on last meals or something. I managed to get a grip today, but then tonight ate badly... tomorrw I will try again![/quote']I am going through the EXACT same thing. I was doing great until Friday, I've been going buck wild since then. I'm an animal! I'm trying to regain control but it's hard. I hate sounding like a wimp, but I have GOT to muster up some self control!
I just tried to eat a McDouble from McD's and it got stuck, first time I've experienced it and I honestly can't recommend it! I look at it as my band saying 'Ohhh no ya don't, biggirl!' Good luck!

Almost one month with the band. Just got my first fill. 2.4 cc. im wondering if anyone is having difficulty toleration dairy??? Im having pretty bad pains in my chest and I guess it's gas. Trying to figure out if it's something specific I'm eating.I'm having some trouble with dairy, particularly cottage cheese. I tried to eat it twice and both times got bad nausea the rest of the day. Now the thought of it makes me want to ralph!

To the OP- I realize I joined the party a bit late but I'm going to toss in my two cents anyhow :-)
I can seriously relate to your wife and the whole situation. My boyfriend and I live together, have for several months. He is amazing and I love him dearly. However I am generally disinterested in sex. I have been on an anti depressant for the last few years and I'm wondering if it plays a role.
Another part is, because of my weight I feel so incredibly unattractive. My bf is SO sweet and goes out of his way to make me feel beautiful and while I appreciate it, it still doesn't help much with my desire in the bedroom.
Kudos to you (and my guy <3) for being so patient and understanding. I hope you all rekindle the romance soon!

Is it high in your chest or towards the bottom of your rib cage? Last Friday I went to the ER because I was having such excruciating pain in my left side right under my rib cage. They did a scan and xrays and everything was fine. I figure it was a really bad case of trapped gas. I hope you get to feeling better.

Congratulations! You look fabulous, you're such an inspiration! I'm 3 weeks out, 25 lbs down :-)

In my opinion, no, I would not. Simply because I know I would go way overboard, which is why I'm overweight to begin with.
I get stuck every so often, usually due to taking to big of bites or not chewing enough. It IS a learning experience to some of us. To those who don't have issues with this...good for you!
That being said, and maybe I'm being overly sensitive... But a few responses to your post seemed very harsh to me. I'm not saying that they're not right, in fact, in principal I agree with them...but I think a little more tact could be used.
Of course one shouldn't encourage someone to do something they think might harm them, but using sarcasm and making the person asking the question feel foolish seems counterproductive to what this forum is about. We don't want to discourage people from asking questions, do we?
Just something to think about...
