    Byetta? Has Anyone Used It?

I had to take nausea pills with the byetta or I would throw up. I lost weight on it but was miserable.

Not Sure What Is Okay To Post

I wouldn't worry about people being down or rude. I usually write it off to posting online and not being sure how it came across. I have been lucky because I have friends and people I work with who are supportive, although a couple of my friends lead off with ,"how the f@@@ you doin' , anything you need let me know." guys tend to get used to that and expect a bit of needling, sometimes guys forget women have a bit different sensibilities and can come across as rude. Ignore the negatives and accept only the positives. Good luck!

    My Best Nsv!

congratulations! That is a great victory! I had my surgery because of comorbidities but the loss of clothes sizes has been a joy! Sadly Patrick, even if I lose weight I will still be shopping in the tall section, just not the BIG and tall.

Sleeved 4-24-12 What Were/are You Eating And How Much?

I am 6'3" and I can eat 4-5 oz of protein fish or very moist beef. Grilled chicken has caused me nausea after a single bite, too dry I think so I only eat very moist chicken. I was sleeved on 4-10-12.
  5. Congratulations! Great work!

    Warning... Debbie Downer

I think some remorse over not eating is normal. I have a good friend who is italian. He told me that he used to eat a whole plate of lasagna and say as he loosened his belt"ah that's a meal". He told me he no longer enjoys food and when he gets depressed he looks in the mirror and says @@@@@ suck it up and put your big boy pants on. I have left out all of the 4 letter words he sprinkled in but I think support is helpful. My buddies tend to give support with a healthy dose of profanity. For the ladies maybe find a therapist or lady to talk to. It helps.
  7. Congratulations! Keep up the good work!
  8. Most of the employees in my office are women and we have 70 employees. I told my secretary and the office manager I was having a sleeve done prep. Postop word got out pretty quickly so I just admitted that I had the surgery, it saves me time having to explain my weight loss. My staff has been supportive and sent me get well cards, a balloon, and a stuffed possum I gave to my son and told him it was templeton the rat(he is 5). Post op a couple of my staff that weren't told acted a bit hurt. For me it would have been incredibly difficult to keep the sleeve private since a few ladies in my office love to ferret out gossip and being one of the partners it would become public quickly, regardless of who I told.

    Spicy Foods<<<I Miss U!

I haven' tried spicy foods very much since my surgery but am slowly building up to it. I plan to stop at the Thai restaurant run by a local family and get their homemade Tom yum gai soup. It has fresh lemon grass and is made from medium to hot depending on your tolerance but is absolutely wonderful.

    New Guy From San Diego!

Congratulations! You are doing better than I did. Even the thought of a protein shake makes me nauseous. After throwing up many different shakes I waited until mushies and worked on protein at that time. San Diego is a beautiful town and one of my favorites. I have been to the lodge at torrie pines for a meeting and they have a great golf course and a beautiful state park near there. Good luck!
  11. I am still relatively new since surgery but swim laps with my son. He is 5 but can swim like a champ but plays as we swim. I have started to put muscle back on my chest and arms and am up 3 pounds but I think it is muscle, since I think part of my early loss was muscle from not working out.

    Movie Theater Seats

Congratulations! I went to the movies recently and am fitting in the seat better. I still run to the bathroom since I buy a liter bottle of water and drink it during the movie.
  14. I take two of the flintstones chewable vitamins. They taste good and the bariatric center gave a list of vitamin supplements and flintstones chewables are one of the suggested choices. If you take children's they prescribe 2 of them.
  15. I gave up on protein drinks and I am 5.5 weeks post op. I am hitting my protein targets but I pretty muck only eat high protein foods. I am sure there is a protein drink that is tolerable for me, I just haven't found it yet.

    Low Bp! Yay!

So i have felt tired today and I asked one of the nurses to check my bp. I was 110/60. My bp has been dropping since surgery and I am on a low dose only of lisinopril. The dose is going to be cut in half and I will soon be off it!. This is a great NSV for me! I used to be on 3 drugs now almost on none for bp!

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

So I wanted to send a prayer to everyone post op and a prayer to everyone prep. I am day 4 post op on clear liquids. I am getting in fluids ok and tolerating milk and soups. I am nowhere near the target of 70 grams of protein. The protein drinks all make me nauseated that I have tried so far. I have ordered unjury protein powder to try. The pain is better and I haven't had any narcotics in 48 hours. I am still fairly weak but I am improving. One thing I think about is solid foods. Those are still a ways away. A final silly thought was is my sleeve big enough for me? I am a large framed 6'3" guy. Anyways, to everyone else, get well soon and to all those waiting good luck!

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

I am now two days post op and I feel better. I can only sip sip burp at this point. The pain on surgery day was tough but was much better on day 2 and I am off pain meds today unless needed. So far I can only tolerate room temp water and camp bells chicken noodle broth. My pastor visited yesterday and I had friends and family with me. Some of my staff brought me a stuffed possum with a bandage on its belly and a balloon. I gave the possum to me son. He and my wife made me a get well soon card(my son is 5). The staff at the hospital has been fantastic from the surgery techs to the nurses. I have an aspirin allergy so I couldn't take the iv ibuprofen which everyone said did better than the narcotics. But I am better. I think that the protein will be a tough challenge since most of it tastes like dirt. I have ordered the injury chicken broth to try since none of the grape juices or apple juices taste right. I will send out prayers for everyone else! Good luck!

Week 4/ One Month Since Surgery!

I hope you feel better. The er at our hospital is very busy with 75k visits per year but they track patient wait times and times for care to be delivered. I am sorry you had that experience, any other hospitals nearby? Anyways get well soon! One thing to keep in mind is that if you get fluids without vitamins people have been reported to get werneikes encephalopathy(if you are not taking your vitamins).

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

I am on liquids awaiting tuesday at 6 am. I picked up subway for my family for lunch yesterday and pizza last night. That was tough since I am on liquids! I wanted to eat the pizza and the box it was in but I didn't. Thankfully I have been working all weekend and monday till 6pm, so I have been too busy to dwell on food.
  24. April 10th for me. I have been working every day thankfully so I haven't had any time to worry.
