  1. Hello,

I've not been around much lately. I apologize for not staying in touch., I had Gastric Plication in MX on April 2, I've lost 16 lbs. I'm thrilled. I feel better than I've felt in a long time.

Please feel free to email me gaynor.debra@att.net. I'm much better at answering email than getting on a board.

  2. The ins. turned me down again yesterday. I cried all morning. Well enough crying. It accomplished nothing.

Whe reason they turned me down....I only have one co-morbility....guess I need to be ready for a coffin for bcbsil to pay.

I'm going to Mexico ... The Obesity Control Center in Tiajana. It is a US accredited facility.

    Instead of lapband I'm having

The newest weight loss procedure is known as Gastric Plication. It is being described as “the most exciting advancement in weight loss surgery since adjustable gastric banding.” The surgeons at OCC are proud to pioneer this procedure which has

Have any of you been there?

So I tell my husband show him the website, etc and he agrees it is the way to go. I made the mistake of tell our sons. One hit the roof. It was rather hurtful. "God made you the way you are and if he wanted you to change he would have made the ins. to pay for the surgery.

When I told him I don't want to live this way. "Then we need to get you therapy."

To get him to shut up I promised to see if I could find any where in the US that would be reasonably priced. I did look but to no avail.

    I wish I hadn't told him.

I've told very few people. It was none of their business but felt I owed it to my children. I won't make that mistake again.

  3. I think I have you all added as friends. I hope I didn't miss anyone.

  5. Well I've cried most of the day. I got that out of the way and now I will act. I have already made reservations and scheduled surgery for Mexico. I'll keep you posted. Surgery date....April 2

If anything goes wrong. Which I don't think it will. It will be the INS co. fault.

  6. I really think I'll hear from the ins. company today. Last time I called they told me it had already been in the hands of the "physician" longer than usual. I don't know if that's a good sign or bad. I'm concerned it is bad.

But I'm trying to have positive thinking.

  7. Hello, Hello, Hello,

I just spoke to bcbsil. They told me no physician diet but 6 months of comprehensive diet with documentation. I'm wondering if it depends on the group you are with. Such as: our insurance is through the company he works for. Maybe it varies.

I also asked them if they had made a decision on my surgery. They said they should have one by Monday. I know I will call again tomorrow. I'm so eager to know.

  8. Debra,

Where do you see that part, I don't see it on the document- or is that what they sent you?

Documentation of active participation in a comprehensive, non-surgical program of weight reduction for at least six (6) months, occurring within the twenty-four (24) months prior to the proposed surgery.

I found this in what you sent me.

  9. I'm on my cell phone but I think I can post a link to the document:

    http://medicalpolicy...t=Surgery#hlink

Thank you! this is the part I was refering to.

    2. Evidence that comprehensive non-surgical treatment of morbid obesity has been attempted prior to surgical treatment of morbid obesity:

    • Documentation of active participation in a comprehensive, non-surgical program of weight reduction for at least six (6) months, occurring within the twenty-four (24) months prior to the proposed surgery.

I had to prove that I had attempted to lose the weight and had participated in a program for at least 6 months. I am thankful I had been going to my doctor and she had kept great records saying we discussed diet and she had weighed me at each visit. I had the 6 month documentation...if they accept it.

They sent me a letter saying Weight Watchers, Nurtisystem, Jenny Craig, etc. were acceptable if I had done them 6 consecutive months. which I hadn't

  10. If you go to their website they have the requirements listed and there is no diet anymore. The date on the document is 2/2012 so it must be a very recent change. Good luck everyone. Hopefully I'll be submitting the request to insurance tomorrow!

Could you tell me how to find it on their site?

I knew there had been a change to their requirements on 2/1/12 but they told my surgeon and sent me a letter stating....No longer need a physicain suppervised diet . instead need six months document diet, non surgical.

I don't doubt you at all. I think they tell different people different things. i sure would like to find that statement, make a copy of it and be prepared ... i f they turn me down i will show it to them.

  11. I just got off the phone with BCBSIL about an hour ago. My sixth appointment for my six month pre-op diet is tomorrow and I found out today that they've done away with the pre-op diet altogether. Has anyone else heard this?

I hadn't heard this. WOW that would be great. I got a letter from them just 2 weeks ago saying I had to have the 6 month diet. I fooled them. I had it. My paper work went in Monday. Now I'm waiting to see if they approve me.
