Who's small?
Yes, I think some thrift store shopping will be happening this week. That is one of the things that I can not deny... my pants are too big. The jeans I am wearing, 7 months ago I could not wear at all, and now they're getting too baggy to wear any longer. That, is still bizarre, but it is something I can not deny.

Who's small?
Hang in there! Have you talked with a nutritionist? She can help get you back on track. Sometimes, thats all we need is someone to help remind us that we can do this and remind us of the tools we have acess too.

Who's small?
Thank you. i do exercise. I walk, hoop dance, lift weights, and just started working with kettle bells. I have "cheated", but I don't really consider it cheating anymore. I just remember everything in moderation, and I only let myself have this mini break from being really disaplined during Christmas time. And so far, I have not gained weight, only held steady for weeks at a time with no loss.

Bread...?
I am one of those rare people I think, bread was ok with me at 5 months. But, I could only eat one (if that small slice). Stick to whole wheat, whole grain, or rye bread if you try it. There are some wraps from a company called, La Tortilla Factory that are low/no carb & high Fiber tortillas that my nutritionist recommended to me, and I love them. They're better for me than bread. I find them usually in Kroger's... don't know if you have those where you live. I think their website lets you store locate retailers that sell them. http://www.latortillafactory.com/

Who's small?
Walking down the hall way to my desk, our IT guy is walking behind me and says, "If you lose anymore weight, one day your clothes are gonna just fall right off!" He is referencing my now too big size 16s I keep wearing anyway. I smile, "And say I know. I need to go shopping. I have 40 more pounds to go before I'm done." As he turns down his row, he smirks, "Twig!" I laugh, and am torn between thinking, "ME!? A Twig!? What!? What. What?" and simply, "Thank you, for such a great compliment!" I am struggling a lot with percetion. I am struggling to see my new self. When I lookin the mirror, am I smaller? Yes, am I still chubby, and all I see is that chub? Yes. My boyfriend makes me feel small. He wraps his arms around me so tight now, its a wonderful feeling and I love it. When he hugged me the other day, I whispered, "This makes me feel small." He whispered back, "Thats because you are small." My brother in law hugged me on Thanksgiving, and yelled out, "Look at that! My arms go all the way around little girl!" I was flying high from happiness and embarassment. I'm now comfortably in as size 14 down from 20/22s. After this size, I'm entering into terriory I've not known as an adult, and frankly I'm excited and scared. My goal is to wear a size 10/11. I love being smaller, don't get me wrong. But, I most of the time still don't think that I am. I still think and feel most of the time, that I'm still size 20 me. I'm still ashamed and embarassed or worried that I look awful. My jeans are baggy, my coat is too big. My shoe size is smaller for heaven's sake... why can't I see and accept that I am smaller!? I'm less 75 pounds of me. Thats the size of a child! Recently, a coworker of mine, who knew I was getting surgery showed me a photo he took of me the day before my surgery. I didn't even recognize her. I was like, "That is me?" That person doesn't even register as me anymore. I'm exactly 7 months post op in two days. I've lost 75 pounds from my highest weight recorded in Febuary of 2011. Any of you struggle with this? What helped? Here is my before from my coworker, one I took the morning of surgery, and a picture I took just 2 weeks ago. This is the first time I've done a side by side.....

Week 23 Post-Op
I should add that quite poignantly, that fortune was from my "last meal" at my favorite Vietnamese restaurant right before I started my liquid diet. It was like a little extra nudge that I made the right decision.

Week 23 Post-Op
This has been true with me too! Nothing or little weight loss, and then boom! 3-5 pounds fall away.... I just keep going forward. As my fortune cookie I got (presurgery) told me, "Always remember where you are going and never forget where you've been."

Ok... it seems folks are a little timid to do the make an offer thing. So... I'll do this instead ... Dresses & jeans $5 Skirts, pants, & tops $3 I will ship single items in bags to help it be cheaper for shipping, and if you want multiple items I can do an amazing job at squishing stuff into flat rate boxes. Hope this helps!

P90X Post OP?
Well, sagging skin kinda happens along the journey, and its not a sure thing that lifting weights for a few months will stop sagging skin. Sometimes it takes time, and depends on so many other variables, including genetics and how dedicated you are in the long run. My surgeon told me I won't know for sure how my skin is going to reshape to me for sure for up to 2 years post op. I think it also depends on where on your body you're looking to put your tattoo. I had one previously on the center of my spine, and its weathered things pretty well. Good luck!

P90X Post OP?
I'm a hoop dancer, which uses lots of core muscle. My doc told me to wait until at least 6 weeks out before I started to do anything that would work my core. He said until then to stick with lighter cardio options such as walking, ellipticals, and the such. Just as was mentioned, at 3 weeks we're still healing, the last thing you want to do is stretch, pull, or rip anything before its ready to be pulled and stretched.

Using a straw?
I am just now 6.5 months out, and have just started to use straws comfortably. My doctor told me to wait at least 6 months. I did experiment at 5 months out, and you do really pull in a lot of air. Weird, because you never notice it pre-op. I'd avoid straws until at least 6 months, and then see how you feel using them. I also feel that the wider the straw, the easier it was to drink with.

How often?
I agree so much!! I mostly have keep wearing my baggy top, and have hit resale shops to supplement a few things that fit right. I've really struggled with pants and jeans! I was on a track where about 3 weeks after getting them, they were too big. I've got one pair of jeans that fits correctly, and they are now starting to get a little loose in the back. Such a weird thing to complain about, but I hear ya! I am going to hit up the resale shop again this weekend for jeans. And I guess Target for some underthings, since those are now too big too. My fiance thinks its hilarious that my underwear are too big.

Drinking before or after meals
I think that drinking before a meal may be more acceptable than after. I know that if I do drink too soon after eating, I get that stuffed feeling and well, that's just uncomfortable. I can also understand how it may speed food through your stomach allowing you to eat more calories than you should, and not feeling full. I've had this too, purely from an experimenting whim.

how long will this stall last?
I stalled about the same time! It lasted a month, and then finally I lost 2 pounds. It is so frustrating, because you get used to the numbers falling and the weight going away then bam.. nothing. I just try really hard to change something from what I've been doing, and that always seems to get the scale moving again.

Great to Find LGBT Support on Here!
Hi Kennedy! Congratulations on your decision for surgery.. it totally is a life changer thats for darn sure! I found the same thing you seem to have found. When I told my closest friends and family, they were all very supportive, and I think that I too was well-versed in all of the details of the surgery, good and bad it made them more comfortable that I had researched everything so thoroughly. It also I think, helped them to understand how very important it was to me. So, even though I know they all were scared, they all supported me. This online community is amazing, and so very supportive. There are a few over opinionated folks around here. I just try to remind myself that most of them mean well, even if we disagree. Good luck to you on your WLS journey!!
