  1. YAY! I live in the Cypress area! How arethings going? Hope you're feeling great. What doctor did you choose? Totally need to friend each other!
  2. I'm June 27th as well!
  3. If someone one compliments my eyes, hair, etc. I take those compliments. I don't think they mean to disrespect or insult your figure. Most people really do just mean they like your eyes.
  4. How do you prepare it? I mean. I roasted mine in the oven, and then tried just putting sauce on it, but the texture was chewy and the taste no so great. Did I not cook it long enough? Tips from a pro?
  5. Best wishes to you! Hope its smooth sailing. Look forward to you update!
  6. I currently (preop) use wonton wrappers to make cheater raviolis. They're pretty delish. I need to look at the package though, and check out the nutritional info. I've tried spaghetti squash twice. Once made by someone else and once by me. The time I had it prepared by someone else it was the best thing I've ever eaten. When I tried, I wasn't really very good. I missed something. I'll be trying again though. I have had the tofu noodles, and I loved those. I found the at HEB, but I also saw that you can order them online from Amazon. I love Amazon.
  7. Hoping you have good news to share!
  8. I've been told that exact statement many times. I've also had other colorful backhanded compliments such as, "Wow, if you lost a little weight you'd be smokin'" or, "If you lost weight you could be a model!" Really!? Really!? Most recently, I had some people tell me that I don't have nearly as far to go as some other people do, and it will be a piece of cake for me because I'm not "that big." Mostly, it just made me feel uncomfortable.
  9. Webchickadee- Nah, no parade raining. I really appreciate when folks are upfront about what they went through. I'd rather be mentally prepared for the worst and then have a cake walk, than the other way around. I keep trying to remind myself that no one knows what my journey will be like, I could be one of the lucky ones who have no issues at all and minor discomfort, or I could struggle. I keep reminding myself that I CAN'T know that. Congratulations on your amazing weigh loss so far! I hope that your discomfort is soon to be over.
  10. Glad to know I'm not the only one with the nerves. I've seen a lot of people who only mention the excitment and the "I can't wait." But, what about the nervous part? LOL
  11. [quote name=McSleevy ' timestamp='1339009388' post='365907] That is wild! My best friend lives in Cypress and is school teacher in Cy-Fair. My husband and I just moved to Dickinson a year ago to be closer to family and our church. So is your surgeon in the Houston area? What hospital is your surgery going to be at? My doctor is Dr. Shernan Yu at TLC, (their commercials air all the time)... Lol So what is your PRE-OP diet? Yes, my surgeon is Dr. Todd Worley. He is at Methodist Willowbrook. He has so far been the best decision. Hopefully, I'm still staying the same thing post-op! I have a one week liquid diet pre-op. I'm soooo not looking forward to it, because I'll still be going to work. I've warned my co-workers, that who ever tries to tease me with food that week will be who I stand next too if I get queasy sick after surgery. That seemed to quiet them. LOL We for sure should stay in touch!!
  12. HA! I so get you. I was walking through the mall with my boyfriend the other day, pointing out all the store I want to shop from when I get close to goal! Thats what I've been doing so far too. Reminding myself of all the good things a week or so of discomfort will bring. But, sometimes those unknowns get the better of me.
  13. Was it difficult starting on your pre-op. In some ways, I'm most concerned about surviving that week!
  14. So, now that I finally have approval and a date (6/27), my head is reeling full of thoughts. How will I look? How will everyone treat me? How will life change? Will it? Can I really do this? Ohemgee its really happening. Will it hurt? Can I handle the pain? I can't believe I'm actually doing this? Will it work? Whats the anesthesia like? I could go on, but I'll stop here. How did you all calm your racing thoughts?
  15. This is good to hear! Hoping after surgery I return to "normal" too.
  16. Oh my gosh! McSleevy, not only are you and I June 27th sleevers, but I'm from Santa Fe, right next door! My parent's house is practically in Dickinson. HA! I didn't expect to see anyone on here from around home. I live in the Cypress area now, but am hoping to relocate back that way early next year.

  18. I'm a June sleever! June 27th. I'm in the OMG its happening place. I'm nerves and excitement.
  19. Good luck, hon! I hope everything falls into place for you. And if it doesn't this time, keep fighting to find a way to make it happen. I just got my surgery date, so I'm that phase of , Whoa, its really happening. June 27th I will be reborn. Hope to see your story as it evolves!
  20. For the Protein drinks, have you tried nut milks? My nutritionist recommended that I use plain soy or almond milks instead of cow's milk. She said that the lactose in the cow's milk is a sugar, and if I can avoid it in my milk, then that much better! Even though they are yummy, while you're healing, steer clear of the flavored soy or almond milk, they do have a little bit of added sugar. Silk is the brand that I prefer most for both of these, and is relatively easy to find in most grocery stores. I also was told to get the flavorings that you buy for baking to add to my shakes or puddings. Add a couple of drops of vanilla, rum, almond, orange, etc... to help the taste or just for variety. My nutritionist suggested also getting the super soft tofu to blender in to shakes and pudding to hide protein that way. I'm not where you are yet, so I'll be watching this thread! My surgery is 6/27! I'm in that excited/nervous place now.
  21. Very inspiring story! Thank you for sharing it with all of us. I look forward to watching your continued and amazing progress! To do what you did pre-surgery is so, just... strong. You are a rock star.
  22. Wow Spatters.... glad to see your positive follow up comment. *huge hugs to you!* Your post actually just hit a note for me. I have PCOS, and it has caused some complications, which is a small word for all the issues. My Oby-gyn told me that if I don't lose weight, I'm a prime candidate walking down the road to uterine cancer. I'm pre-op and I get wobbly about my decision sometimes, thinking about all the foods I have to give up, but this post is a reminder as to the real reasons why this is an important decision. Thank you for sharing with us.
  23. Thats awesome!! I can't wait for that moment myself!
