  1. If anything it would be HYPERthyroid- an overactive thyroid. Causes wt loss, palpitations, anxiety. I agree you should see your doc- this could be many things from not getting enough calories, your metabolism being great at early 20's (wish mine were there!), to being a thyroid or other medical concern. Hope it helps!
  2. I had a similar thing. I had my sleeve on 2/8. My sutures are "spitting" They are supposed to be absorbable, but my body doesn't like that. My surgeon says that they will trim the ends that have spit out, but they do have a burning type feeling. I would definitely call your surgeon though. Any change in pain is a reason for a call.

    Heck Of An Nsv

I too can relate to the steroid weight gain, that is where a TON of mine came from- I have rheumatoid arthritis and that was the main treatment that worked for my symptoms. Its very frustrating that the treatment for one thing can cause another problem! So glad that you have overcome the trials that you have been given and are perservering!

    Newbie~ 2 Weeks Post Op!

Wow! I wish I could go even to stage 2!! I am on full liquids for another week and a half and I had my surgery on 2/8. I feel like I am starving all the time! I drink a ton of water, propel water so it has vitamins as they don't want me to start my vitamin chewables until 4 week mark. I am getting my protein in and liquid goal, but can't wait to actually put a little food in my mouth!! Good luck to you and CONGRATS on your huge wt loss so far!

    Emotional!

I have an IUD and NEVER had a period before surgery. I woke up the morning after surgery in the hospital with my period. It is very likely that you will have cycles and they can be irregular for a while. If you have depressed feelings for more than a few weeks, you should talk to your doc. Mine warned me that depression a few months later is common and if last longer than a few weeks, treatment might be necessary for awhile.
  6. So sorry to hear about this! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

    Did Medications Help You?

I left the hospital with pain med, generic pepcid, zofran for nausea, and hycosamine (Levsin). I took the pain med for a couple days after surgery and then at bedtime for a few more days, but then nothing. It wasn't really painful, except when I went to sleep. I might also add that before surgery I was taking a comprable pain medication 2-3 times a day for rheumatoid arthritis pain since I had to stop all of those meds a few months before surgery. Since surgery I have had to take ZERO for that (YAY!!). As for the other meds- I took hycosamine a few times a day for the first 1-2 weeks (it helps with bloating and spasms) the zofran only a few times and the pepcid I started, but stopped because I felt like it got stuck and I am not really having any heartburn type pain anyways. Hope that helps!! Good luck! It is good to have the meds on hand, because it does seem like you are in a bit of a fog from anesthesia the first few days and better to have the meds there than trying to get them if you need them!
  9. Nice job!! You are looking amazing!!

    Only 2 Pounds In A Week :(

Thank you everyone for your guidance and support!! I appreciate it all!!
  11. Had my sleeve on 2/8 and lost 17 pounds in a week and 2 days. The last week now only 2 pounds. I was really bummed when I got on the scale. I am only drinking water, protein drinks (one a day until today) and a little tomato soup or broth. My surgeon wants me on liquid only for a month. I am walking a lot and doing things around the house, so what gives??? I am disappointed and discouraged that my struggles with the liquid only is barely even paying off!!

What Should I Try And Stock Up On?

Thank you!! I started to put two and two together that every time I had dairy- either in protein shakes or milk in soup- that I was soon in the bathroom. Not coming back up, but the other way. Not pleasant.

What Should I Try And Stock Up On?

I have found that after the surgery I can no longer digest dairy, so I changed my protein to unjury powder. It comes in several flavors, including a "unflavored" one that you can add to broth or soups, etc.
  14. What a great thing to lose!!! Congrats!!
  15. Way to go! I am three weeks out and hope I can be as successful as you!
  16. WOW!!! Amazing! You look great! I appreciate the pointers on the protein! I have been struggling with that. Haven't found one I like, I will have to try the unjury!

    Anyone Feeling Moody?

You're not the only one. I too am extremely emotional. I have dropped dishes (plastic ones so nothing even broke) and burst into tears. I basically cry at the drop of a hat. And crabby too at times. My understanding is that it is from all the drastic changes going on and the large release of estrogen that has been stored in abdominal fat. But that doesn't make it any easier to take.....
  18. So, my surgeon wants me to stay on liquids only for 1 month post op. Any suggestions on things to try? I am getting to really sick of chicken broth, jello and juice/water.
  19. I am freezing all the time too!! I normally am warm, sleeping in a tshirt, but these days I am sleeping in sweats, socks, etc.

    Hidee-Hoo Everyone! Day Two Post-Op

Congrats!! Those spasms are wicked! It really gets better! Just had my surgery on the 8th. I have found that tea helps- the warmth is soothing.
  21. I was sleeved on 2/8. I have been told to stay on liquids only for a month. The long incision/staple line of your stomach needs time to heal....Hope it helps. I too have had "buyer remorse" but that has passed. I still feel sorry for myself at times and wonder if I am ever going to be normal again, but those times are getting fewer as the days post surgery go.

    When Can I Start Exercising?

I am 7 days out and saw my surgeon yesterday. He wanted me walking from the time I was in the hospital. More strenuous stuff he wanted to wait until I saw him again at 4 weeks post op.
  24. Help! I am 7 days post op. Have been well so far. Getting my liquids down fine. Last night took my pepcid half tab, but didn't cut it again like I normally do. Since then I have had a feeling of something stuck at the bottom of my throat/top of stomach. I can still drink and all, just this sensation. I can't imagine it is still this pill, as it should have disolved by now. Any tips??
  25. My starting BMI was just 40, the minimum for insurance to cover the surgery. They also make exceptions to the rule if there are other medical conditions present such as diabetes, heart disease, etc.
