    Judgement About Wls

When she brings it up again and she will, just look at her and say "How does me taking control of my life, health and weight and the way I choose to do that affect you in any way?" and then smile really big of course!! That should send her packing and let her know you aren't interested and her opinion isn't going to change your mind.

    Nsv - Participating In Life

Whoo hoo!! I am almost 3 months out and I too am rejoining life! Going to the beach, lake, dinner, etc with friends, not feeling like cancelling plans because I don't feel well or am embarrassed! It is such an awesome feeling and I love my "sleeved" life!!

Not Cool! Frustration To The Max!

Just a stall! You will be fine and will start losing again! I have had them last 2 weeks. Just keep walking, eating what you are allowed, getting your protein and your water in. It will start again, but during the meantime start looking at your body in the mirror everyday and I guarantee you will see some changing going on. Good luck and congrats on your sleevie!!
  8. I was on 3 meds for my diabetes. Insulin, Victoza and Metformin x2 a day. I quit the Victoza at the start of my 2 week pre-op diet and adjusted my insulin at my PCP's direction as my sugars started dropping over those two weeks. I started the 2 weeks taking 80 units a night and ended it taking 35 units. I continued the Metformin throughout the entire 2 weeks. They gave me two shots of insulin in the hospital as my sugars were over 180 but less than 200. I took no meds after I left the hospital for my diabetes. Sugars running around 110 fasting. Less than 60 days out of surgery my diabetic A1C was down to 5.7%. It was 6.7% before surgery with the 3 meds. A bonus: my high blood pressure is back into the normal ranges. I was on 2 meds before surgery. No meds since surgery for that one either. Test daily at least 3 times a day and have a plan in place with your PCP as to what you should do as it lowers. Good luck and God bless you!

Sound Off On Post Op Appetite

3 months out - real hunger nope - sometimes forget to eat. Most days though I eat when I am suppose to and when I get that empty feeling. Water will usually satisfy that. I usually carry some Atkins protein bars around with me or cheese sticks just to make sure I get my protein in for the day, especially if I am running around town.
  10. I chose the sleeve for because I didn't want my insides rerouted either. But, doesn't mean it doesn't work for others. I just knew after much research that the Sleeve was meant for me. Less than 60 days out of surgery I accomplished what I wanted and knocked my diabetic A1C down to 5.7% and my high blood pressure back into the normal ranges - all of this without the 5 medications I was on to control those two diseases before surgery. I am proud of myself for taking control and making such a smart decision. Good luck with your new life and kudos for taking the time to reflect on what you want from the surgery. God bless!

  13. I am 60+ days out and very happy with my decision.
  14. Just tell them you have started a new routine by dieting and exercising and have lost (fill in the blank) ________ pounds so far. Tell them you are doing proteins first, etc and that protein is very filling. Let them know that even though you are on vacation you have made a life decision to make changes and won't be persuaded to derail yourself. Then move the conversation on........ Have fun and don't let them decide when you have your surgery!

    Who Did You Tell?

I only told my family, close friends and a few people at work before I had the surgery. Now that the surgery has accomplished what I wanted and knocked my diabetic A1C down to 5.7% and my high blood pressure back into the normal ranges - all of this without the 5 medications I was on to control those two diseases I am ready to tell whomever asks me! I changed my life and I am proud of myself for taking control and making such a smart decision. If they have negative things to think or say let them because I will let it roll off my back and let them know it wasn't about them anyway!
