    13 Days Post Op!

Or maybe all those commercials is one of the reasons some many Americans are overweight. Keep bombarding the food ideas over and over into our brains that we couldn't resist if we tried! LOL- okay maybe not entirely, but I'm sure it contributes! Thanks for sharing your experiences!!

    Sleeved On March 1St

Time2Lose "I spent most of the night making trips to the bathroom - too hydrated - which given the intake restriction post op isn't a bad idea. The next morning, we received medicine packs to take home with us. Naproxen, Cipro, Maalox and antibacterial spray for the incision sites." Naproxen??? I didn't think they wanted us to take NSAIDs because of the possibly of ulcers, but I guess all doctors are different and I know it helps with the swelling.

    Emotional Eating

I sometimes answer with "My mother was an alcoholic and attended AA, sometimes daily, and I know that if she could have had surgery to help her addiction to alcohol she would have done it in a heartbeat! Difference is she could manage hers by not in-taking alcohol and attending support groups and true while I could attend support groups and try to manage my intake, I still have to indulge in food! So no, I have no doubts about my choice. Thank you! (Of course said with a smile! LOL)

    Pre-Op Diet

My doctor started me on my third medication for my Diabetes - Victoza and it has helped curb my appetite some. I started walking on my breaks at work around the building with a group of girls. Eating the things I know are right most of the time. I have lost 30lbs since October 2011. 9 of those lbs I lost since February 20 on the Pre-Op diet and that is with a meal in the evening consisting of 3-4 oz lean protein and vegetables. I didn't think I could lose that much on this diet but proof is on the scale . Why then couldn't I just do that once every two months and lose it all? Because without the $225 a month medication and an all protein shake/small meal plan diet everyday I would put all of that back on plus some. Good luck on your journey!
  19. What an awesome idea! I intend to borrow the idea from you as well because although I have made it through several surgeries the concern that this time might result differently is there of course. One thing that struck me when I was reading your post was that I have been diligent in preparing such as: Making sure the following documents are handy: Will, Medical Power of Attorney, HIPPA Release Authorization, Advance Directive. But, what I had failed to think about is that although I know that my children know how much I love them, how much they mean to me and how very proud I am of them, I should still write them letters too, in case the worst case scenario happens and I fall into that <1% category! Since surgery is Monday, guess I better get to writing! Thank you for sharing!!
  20. This is also my last weekend as a full stomach woman and a permanent "fat chick"! From the sounds of it you aren't allowed a small meal in the evenings. Bummer!! My pre-op fortunately allows that! I am chewing gum as well for my chewing needs. Good luck on Wednesday, I will be 2 days out and will be wishing you well! God bless!

    Time Off Work

My doctor has given me 6 weeks off and I intend to take it to heal. I am 50, have type 2 diabetes and on 3 medications to control it, 2 medications for high blood pressure, so I am guessing my body may take a little longer to heal. If I feel extra great sooner then I will return sooner. Some people may not be lucky enough to be able to take that much paid time off. I would say just don't push it, it is your health and that is what you are trying to regain. God bless and have a great day!

One Week To Go.... Week 1 Pre-Op Diet Complete.

LOL - nothing interesting about it! Sugar free jello and popsicles are nice and they are a little solid. Bullion is good too, there are different flavors of that, just make sure you get extra water to flush out the salt.
