Some one please send me some motivation to get me jumpstarted again. I really want to lose 20 pounds and I can't seem to do it. I can't even lose 1 lb. I am at 1 cc right now due to having all of it taking out from being too tight. I go get a fill on the 21st. I am hoping that gets me going again. I can pretty much eat anything and alot lately!! I feel like I should be at 150 by now. I have been at this plateau since before August of last year. I had lost 65 lbs by my year anniversary and I have not lost since before then. Will I ever lose this weight or am I stuck???

This is not a joke, just something I thought was good to pass on. "Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guestroom. Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied,"Things aren't always what they seem." The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest. When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field. The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel how could you have let this happen? The first man had everything, yet you helped him, she accused. The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let the cow die. "Things aren't always what they seem," the older angel replied." The first couple had a hole in the wall and behind it was lots of gold. I fixed it so they would never find it. The Angel of Death came to the second couple that night for the wife, instead I gave him the cow. Things aren't always what they seem!!!! Just sometimes:-)

In the November 4-2003 issue of Family Circle they have an article about Weight Loss surgery and the Lap-Band is mentioned...but here is some advice they gave when looking for a Dr. I will post what they said about the lap-band in another post. Since all bariatric surgeries involve considerable risks, it is vialt to ask as many questions as possible, including the following, before deciding if a procedure is right for you: 1. Does the surgeon work with a team? Will a doctor, nutritionist and therapist screen you? Be wary of those planning little presurgery evaluation and follow-up. 2. Does the Doctor keep data on patients? Don't be concerned solely with how many pounds patients lose; complications and death rates are more important. 3. Are support groups available? Are there meetings, where, before opting for it, you can talk to people who have had the surgery? Are both medical and psychological issues related to the procedure addressed safisfactorily? 4. Check out the hospital where your operation would be performed. Does it have proper safety procedures for bariatric patients? 5. Does the surgeon follow patients longterm? Avoid those who dismiss patients after 3-6 months. Hope this helps all of the newbies out there!!

I am 27 and had the lap-band done in Aug of 2003. I was 26 when I had it done. I have lost 65 lbs and have another 20 to go. I love my band. I had the surgery on Wed and went back to work on Monday. I did not take any pain meds after the surgery. I was on diabetes meds and no longer take those either. Good Luck to you and a big WELCOME from TEXAS!!!
