  1. Hi Tara! Congrats on your 110 loss! That is so inspirational to those of us just starting out. I have no doubt you will get down 30 again. All the best. - Natalie
  2. Congrats Ashley! Once you get that date it suddenly feels real. lol. Exciting. - Natalie
  3. Welcome! Everyone on the pre op diet, glad to hear its going well! Take it a day at a time. SupportRO - WOW 10lbs is a great!! Congrats. I weighed myself on my 4th day and I had lost 7lbs. Starting day 5 of liquids now. Ryan - Sounds like you had to jump through hoops to get here. Be proud of yourself. Buffalogyrl - I know it's hard right now and the negative thoughts are clouding out the positive. I'm having many of the same thoughts, especially at night. "will I ever be able to enjoy food again?", "will I ever be able to go to a restaurant with friends and eat like a normal person?" the list goes on. I was eating at restaurants and takeout literally EVERY day before this (huge reason I got to this weight). It was my life. My friends and i love to eat so this is a big concern of mine. If you look at the success stories and post op here, the answer is YES you will be able to do those things again... Just not the way you did before because that is what got people like us to where we are. It will become more about enjoying your friends company than eating a large amount. As for pre-op diet, yes it really, really sucks. But at least you get to eat food right? Most only get liquids. I have to stay 1 night at the hospital too and I'm kinda looking forward to being taken care of. lol. Make a list of why you want to lose weight and look over it when you feel low. Emotional moments and self doubt are normal at a time like this. Chin up, you can and you will do this!!! - Natalie
  4. Look forward to hearing how it goes. sending positive energy your way. - Natalie
  5. Hmm. I am gonna call the nurse tomorrow and see if it's ok for me to take too. I wish you all the best with your surgery tomorrow. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone else having surgery tomorrow too.. This is the beginning of a new you!! Look forward to joining you soon.
  6. Thanks! I have been keeping a glass of water with me all day, sipping on it constantly and it seems to be helping. Your reply really lifted my spirits Deb. You're right. I am glad it's not just me that is feeling emotional and overwhelmed by this. I will be fine one minute then ready to scream or cry a minute later. lol! I talked to the bariatric nurse today and she said day 3 and 4 are hardest for everyone. But like you said, it took years to get this way and change won't happen overnight. This will all be worth it in the end. WHat is your surgery date? I am a week away. Once I started liquids I assumed I couldn't do vitamins. However, just got off the phone with the dietician after seeing your post and she said I can take my multivitamin and vitamin d. woohoo! Two weeks from now I will be there to remind you of all the things you told me. we just gotta hang in there.
  7. Glad the liquid diet is going well for you guys so far! Michele, I am really excited for you!! One day away from a fresh start. People on the liquid diet - is anyone else having constipation? I'm sorry if that's TMI.
  8. Ok, it sounds like you are following their instructions and being healthy. There is definitely no reason that should make you gain 7lbs. Have you changed any medications recently? I would ask the nutritionist of you are getting in enough calories. if you don't feel the weight loss counselor is sensitive to your needs, is there any way you can switch to a different one? Remember, these people work for YOU and should never make you feel like an idiot! The last thing you need through this journey is the extra stress. Wish you all the best
  9. Here is a great place to share your surgery day experience so those getting banded later in the month will know what to expect. Come here after your surgery and let us know how it went.
  10. Wow. I'm sorry the doctor is hassling you like that. Some of them really have no bedside manner. it sounds like you either gained, or the scales are different. DO NOT attempt to lose weight eating only 300-600 calories a day. That is dangerous and could mess up your metabolism, causing you to actually gain. My nutritionist was big on not trying to eat like I had the band, before I actually get it. She wanted me having normal portions and calories. For next month I recommend that you and your wife log everything that you are eating in a journal and show it to your nutritionist. Don't be afraid to ask questions or get help with meal planning. What are you doing for exercise?
  11. Ok Day 4! I am gonna have my first meal of the day shortly. Sticking to a schedule and having water constantly through the day. Hope it goes better. Congrats, Jennifer! How do you feel? I will keep you in my thoughts tomorrow. Update us after surgery.
  12. My nutritionist never mentioned water... I'm only having a couple of glasses a day so I think I definitely need to be drinking more. How much are you having every day?
  13. I think you are right about the schedule. I need to time it out instead of waiting til I get hungry. But the only thing that seems to keep me full is sipping on these protein drinks throughout the ENTIRE day. I don't stay full for more than 2 hours tops on these drinks. At first I thought it was mental, but I literally felt like I was going to pass out this afternoon. All of my drinks have 30-40g of protein in them and my doctor said I should be having 70g a day.. so I should be getting in enough protein since I am having a minimum of 3 a day. i also have at least 1 cup of jello and 1 bowl of broth. I am really confused.
  14. I have BCBS MN as well and was approved in 2 weeks.
  15. The computer questions are very easy to answer and I was laughing as I was going through it, because even a "crazy" person would know which way to correctly answer the questions to pass. lol. Just be honest and you will be fine! Then for the interview they go over your test results and ask a few basic questions about self esteem, emotional eating, how you may feel after the band, why you think you are overweight, and how it has effected you.
  16. If you are on a computer.. look at the area under my user pic... you will see "posts", "topics" etc and "social groups". Click on the may blooming one and it should take you there. Not sure about the password issue though.
  17. Looks like we are surgery day twins too. It is hell to have this constant hunger. I will be fine for 5 minutes then want to cry. My sister suggested drinking water constantly and it's helping a little bit. Have you tried that? All I can say is thank goodness for NBA playoffs starting the same day my liquid diet did... It has been the perfect distraction. lol
  18. Wow, a 15lb loss is awesome! Whatever root you choose I know you will do great.
  19. Congrats girls on surgery dates and sticking to the diet. Well today I had my first breakdown. 3rd day of liquids. Every day is harder, not easier. I am just so hungry today and feel so physically weak. I have had enough protein so far (50g) yet I have no energy. I feel frustrated.. I just went into my car and cried.
  20. Yes.. It's like a thicker gatorade as opposed to a creamy consistency. Nice way to mix it up if you get sick of shakes!
  21. I know that must be discouraging but you can totally do this. I started out at 326 but lost 36 lbs during my 6 month diet. It is hard but a nutritionist can help you make a plan and stay accountable each month. What I did was cut out pop entirely and start preparing my own meals instead of going out for dinner every night as I used to. I also joined a gym (was always too embarrassed in the past but forced myself) and worked out 5-6 days a week. If financially possible get a trainer. I think exercise is what will make a HUGE impact in a short amount of time, especially if you have not been active in the past. We are all rooting for you!!! You got this!
  22. I recommend: Isopure - alpine punch Oh Yeah - chocolate Pure Protein - chocolate Muscle Milk Light - Caffe Latte You should be able to find all those at Vitamin Shoppe or GNC. They taste pretty good.
